Mt. Gilead State Park Campground Reviews
Camped a long weekend here, nice camp ground, great hiking trails, great lake to kayak in. Had a kayak launch that made it really easy in and out of the water with kayaks. Nice playground for the kids. Small camp ground, but nice, friendly staff. Some of the sites are very unlevel, so be sure to have plenty of stacks to level your camper. Nice clean facilities. We recommend to camp here.
Oct 02, 2024 · BeccaMt Gilead probably is better than what I experienced for a non-primitive Ohio State Park.Campground. I fault the online reservation service and the inaccurate site description. There was not a level square inch on the site for tent camping. The camp host would not convenience me a better level site, even though most of the campground was empty and it was already late on a weeknight. I ended up pitching the tent on the edge of the unlevel gravel pad. The site was so unlevel even setting up the stove for a cup of coffee was risky with the burner and pot almost tipping over. I give the campground 4 stars anyway... I just got a bad site and host. Restroom and campground was clean and relatively quiet through the night.
Feb 20, 2025 · Jef CrewNice park/campground with large pond (small lake?). About half RV sites have electric, but no water/sewer. Dump station is available. Other half have full hookups, but a bit tight quarters. Some sites are reservable, others 1st come.Met a nice young naturalist Meredith, who hosted a class on turtles. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Learned a lot about turtles, and answered every question. It's a good place to camp, not far from Mid-Ohio racetrack. There's a KOA across the road from this site, but little to no shady sites. Not a "shade" on KOA, but if you want real shade, this park has it.Going further, plenty of new kiddie playgrounds, new shower house and remote toilets at every parking lot..Here's a photo of the turtle and some campsite shots.
Jul 02, 2023 · John BeckerCamp sites are very small, as if they cut a normal in half. Should be RV only. There was a trail at the back of our site & people would walk through our site to access. Don't expect to have that peaceful "woods time" you are searching for. Don't bother hiking any of the short trails that were not maintained. The only good thing was clean bathrooms. Will not be back.
