Mutual Mine Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Inverness, Florida area, Mutual Mine Campground, located at 4771 Trail 16, Inverness, FL 34452, USA, offers a potentially scenic retreat with lakeside camping and access to long trails. However, based on recent customer reviews, it's important for prospective campers to be aware of certain policies and potential issues to ensure a satisfactory stay. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the environment, services, and features based on the available feedback.
One of the appealing aspects of Mutual Mine Campground is its natural environment. One reviewer who stayed at site 1 described it as being "right next to the lake," suggesting a picturesque waterfront setting for some campsites. The campground is also described as "pretty," indicating an aesthetically pleasing natural landscape. Furthermore, the presence of "long trails all around the campground" suggests ample opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding area. It's also noted that dirt bikes and Jeeps were seen tackling these trails, implying that some trails may be suitable for off-road vehicle use, although one review explicitly states "No ATVs were allowed posted on the gate," so clarity on permitted vehicle types for trail use should be sought.
In terms of services and facilities, Mutual Mine Campground has undergone some recent updates. A significant improvement is the addition of "new restrooms." These facilities are described as having "4 unisex stalls with showers" and offering "hot water." However, a reviewer noted that these new restrooms "could have fit 2 more in the same space to reduce congestion" and that "they also do not drain very well," indicating potential issues with capacity and functionality that prospective campers should be aware of. The presence of bathroom and shower facilities with hot water is generally a positive amenity for campers.
The availability of electric hookups appears to be somewhat inconsistent or potentially not guaranteed at all campsites. One reviewer who stayed at site 1 mentioned, "We expected electric hookup as stated on the reservation, but we were well equipped anyway," implying that the expected electric hookup was not available at their site. This suggests that while some sites might offer electric hookups, it's crucial for campers to confirm this specifically for their chosen site when making a reservation.
Security is a notable feature of Mutual Mine Campground, as it has a "Private gated entrance that is always closed unless you have your code." This suggests a secure environment with controlled access, which can provide peace of mind for campers regarding safety and privacy.
Connectivity might be a consideration for some campers. One reviewer noted that "At&t cellular reception is decent" at the campground, which is helpful information for those relying on AT&T for communication or internet access.
However, the reviews also highlight some potential drawbacks. One significant policy to be aware of is the "no alcohol rule in camp." This could be a concern for travelers who enjoy having alcoholic beverages during their camping trips, especially those who mentioned collecting craft beers from various locations and being unable to "empty our cars to not possess alcoholic beverages." This policy should be carefully considered by prospective campers.
Another issue raised by a reviewer was noise from a neighboring camper's generator. They described a neighbor running a "very loud, whole-house generator all evening and morning" and suggested that "there should be a decibel limit on generators." While this might not be a consistent problem, it indicates a potential for noise disturbances that could impact the camping experience, especially if the campground does not have strict rules regarding generator usage hours and noise levels.
The environment surrounding Mutual Mine Campground, beyond the lake and trails, is not extensively described in the reviews. Inverness, Florida, is situated in an area known for its natural beauty, including lakes, forests, and proximity to the Withlacoochee State Forest. It's likely that the campground benefits from this broader environmental context, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and enjoying the natural Florida landscape. However, specific details about the immediate surroundings of the campground are limited.
No specific promotional information or special offers are mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about camping fees, site availability, trail access details, or any specific rules and regulations (including the no-alcohol policy and generator usage) should contact Mutual Mine Campground directly at (352) 797-4140 or +1 352-797-4140. They would be the most reliable source for current pricing and policies.
In conclusion, Mutual Mine Campground near Inverness, FL, offers a potentially attractive "camping near me" option with a lakeside setting and access to long trails. The campground features a private gated entrance for security and has new unisex restrooms with hot showers, although there are reported issues with drainage and potential congestion. AT&T cellular reception is noted as decent. However, prospective campers should be aware of the campground's "no alcohol rule" and the potential for noise from generators. Additionally, the availability of electric hookups may vary by site and should be confirmed during booking. Despite some reported drawbacks, the natural beauty and trail access could make Mutual Mine Campground a worthwhile option for those seeking a more rustic and potentially adventurous camping experience in the Inverness area.

Mutual Mine Campground Reviews
This campground was pretty but the restroom lights didn't work in the men's room and there is a no alcohol rule in camp. Some of us are traveling and can't exactly empty our cars to not possess alcoholic beverages when we collect craft beers from across the state/country...I have typically never had a bad camping experience but this stay was the exception. We had a neighbor that ran his generator all evening and morning. There should be a decibel limit on generators, they had an old, very loud, whole-house generator.Update: Came back a year later and there are new restrooms. They have 4 unisex stalls with showers. The water was hot but they could have fit 2 more in the same space to reduce congestion. They also do not drain very well. At&t cellular reception is decent.
Dec 24, 2024 · Xavier GossGreat little place to come reset. First time camping here. We stayed at site 1, which was right next to the lake. There is plenty of room for multiple tents / vehicles / rigs. We expected electric hookup as stated on the reservation, but we were well equipped anyway. Nice bathroom / shower combo with hot water. No ATVs were allowed posted on the gate. Private gated entrance that is always closed unless you have your code. Long trails all around the campground. We spotted some dirt bikes and Jeeps tackling them.
Feb 15, 2025 · Siren MuscariaWonderful experience :) Very well maintained and clean. I believe it’s only $10 per night for camping. No electricity but has water faucet, fire pit and picnic table as you can see in the pic. They offer free firewood as well so we added some donation when we purchased the ticket online. There are two bathrooms and I actually saw a electrical outlet outside the female bathroom if someone really need to charge their phone. Visited here from Monday-Friday during May so it’s only us and maybe 2 more other families here. Fairly close to crystal river for manatee and one hour drive to Tampa for some authentic Chinese food. 30min drive to the amazing Rainbow Springs. Absolutely will come back
May 05, 2023 · Andrew BrumleyNice place to camp if your are doing some kind of activitie in citrus. No electricity. Sometimes they have firewood for donations
Apr 24, 2025 · FD CookGood campground with lots of shade. 13 sites with water but no electricity, don't count on finding power at the bathrooms either. Water at each site can be a little ways away from where you want it, so bring a hose.Bathrooms are clean and well maintained, but are open air and older, so keep that in mind. Also can be a bit of a walk from one side of the campground.Lots of hiking, a lake ( but couldn't get close enough for fishing ) and generally very scenic for central FL.
