Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Newport, Washington area with a blend of natural beauty and convenient amenities? The Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday, located at 1002 McGowen Rd, Newport, WA, offers a unique camping experience. It operates as a combination of a TT (Thousand Trails) and KOA campground, which some visitors have noted results in differences between the campsites. However, the common areas are shared and generally well-maintained. For local users seeking a camping option with lake access, a pool, and a reputation for friendly staff, this KOA Holiday might be worth considering. Let's delve into the details based on recent customer feedback.
Environment: Lakeside Setting with Shared Common Areas
The Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is situated by Little Diamond Lake, offering a picturesque lakeside environment for campers to enjoy. One reviewer mentioned that once you reach your spot and park, the place is peaceful and quiet, allowing guests to appreciate nature. The presence of a small lake suggests opportunities for water-related activities, although the specifics aren't detailed in the reviews. The campground also features a pool, providing another option for recreation and relaxation, especially during warmer months.
However, one review points out that the campground is a combination of TT and KOA, and there's a noticeable difference between the campsites in these sections. While the common areas are shared and kept in decent shape, potential campers might find variations in the quality or layout of individual sites depending on which section they are in. The road leading to the TT area is described as narrow with untrimmed trees, which could pose a challenge for larger RVs. Additionally, the internal map of the campground is reported to be inaccurate, with some roads closed and new paths created, potentially making navigation a bit confusing upon arrival.
Despite these navigational and site-specific differences, the overall environment, particularly once settled at your campsite, is described as peaceful, allowing for enjoyment of the natural surroundings and the lake.
Services and Amenities: Friendly Staff, Pool, Dog Park, and Some Limitations
One of the most consistently praised aspects of the Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is its staff. Multiple reviewers highlighted the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the employees, particularly mentioning Debbie and Nicole by name. One guest recounted a stressful situation with a reservation error that Debbie efficiently and kindly resolved, emphasizing the above-and-beyond customer service provided. This positive feedback suggests that guests can expect a welcoming and supportive atmosphere from the campground staff.
In terms of amenities, the campground offers a pool for guests to enjoy. For pet owners, there is a nice dog park, providing a dedicated space for furry companions to exercise and socialize. Bathroom and shower facilities are available and described as "not bad," although one reviewer noted that they don't provide a lot of privacy. This is something to consider for those who value more private bathing experiences.
A significant limitation mentioned in one review is the lack of sewer service for any of the campsites. This is an important point for RV travelers who typically rely on sewer hookups. While there are two dump stations available, this might present an additional challenge, especially given that there are more than 100 spots. Additionally, despite a post on the TT website stating "no laundry," the review doesn't clarify if laundry facilities are indeed absent at the KOA portion or the entire campground.
Regarding connectivity, one reviewer noted that Verizon and T-Mobile worked well at their spot, which is a positive for those who need to stay connected.
Another point of information is that the pedestal with the electric connection is often shared between two campsites, and it's not always clearly marked whether it's a 50 or 30 amp service. Campers may need to physically check the pedestal to determine the available amperage.
Features: Lakeside Access, TT/KOA Combination, and Potential Site Variability
A key feature of this campground is its location on Little Diamond Lake, offering potential for lakeside enjoyment. The combination of Thousand Trails and KOA operations is another defining characteristic, which, as noted, can lead to variability in campsite quality and layout. The presence of a pool and a dog park adds to the recreational features available to guests.
The friendly and helpful staff stand out as a significant positive feature, contributing to a welcoming and supportive camping experience. While the navigational challenges within the campground and the lack of sewer hookups for all sites are points to be aware of, the overall peacefulness of the location once settled is also a notable feature.

Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday Reviews
I recently spent some time at Little Diamond after an exhausting journey of over 1,500 miles, and while the campground itself is nice, it was the exceptional staff that truly made my stay memorable. After three long days on the road, I arrived feeling both tired and a bit stressed. To make matters more challenging, I realized there was an error with my reservation. Thankfully, Debbie was there to save the day! Her kindness and efficiency took a huge weight off my shoulders. She not only corrected my reservation but also lifted my spirits during a stressful moment. Her customer service went above and beyond, and I genuinely appreciate all her help.I’d also like to mention Nicole, who was equally helpful and friendly during my stay. It’s clear that the staff at Little Diamond are committed to providing excellent service and ensuring that guests feel welcome and supported.Overall, I highly recommend Little Diamond not just for its facilities but for the wonderful team who makes staying here a great experience. Thank you, Debbie and Nicole, for your outstanding support!
Apr 24, 2025 · Daniel ZardThis is one of those campgrounds that are difficult to describe. It is a TT and KOA combo and you can definitely see a big difference between campsites. Lucky common areas are shared and kept in decent shape. The road leading to the TT area is narrow and trees are not trimmed. The map is not accurate, most of the roads are closed and new passages are created. Most of the spots are small and hard to figure out from what direction you should approach. The pedestal with electric connection is usually shared between two sides not marked if it's 50 or 30 amps... You need to get out and see what you are dealing with. There is a post on the TT website about no laundry but surprise surprise there is no sewer service for any of the sites. Once you make it to the spot and park the place is peaceful and quiet, you can enjoy the nature, pool or small lake. The dog park is nice. Bathroom and shower facilities are not bad but do not provide a lot of privacy. There are only 2 dump stations for more than 100 spots so that's an additional challenge with no sewer connection. Verizon and T mobile worked well in our spot.
Jul 10, 2024 · Kaja SWIEBWe went to Newport little diamond lake KOA and enjoyed it. It was a very big campground but with it being probably at about 60% capacity was very quiet and fairly spread out. Nice little lake and Clubhouse with a pool and indoor spa that my kids loved. Nice dog park and friendly staff. I think this will be somewhere we will come back to every year.
Sep 09, 2024 · Tommy TuckerThis is a cute campground. The sites are huge, and everything was super clean. I was impressed with how well it was maintained. It is a bit off the beaten path, but we liked it.
Jul 21, 2024 · Crystal DukeProbably one of the best KOA's I have camped at, it has everything for a nice family getaway. From disc golf, basketball, swimming pool, hot tub, dog park, multiple kids play grounds, to walking trails and a small lake and so much more.My family and I really enjoyed this place and will be returning again.
