This campground offers a unique blend of camping experiences and the charm of a working fruit farm, making it a potentially interesting option for local campers seeking a getaway.
Based on recent customer feedback, Nor Win Campgrounds & Fruit Farm Inc. presents a mixed experience. One reviewer, an experienced RV camper, described their stay during NorWin's Halloween weekend as "so so," offering both positive and negative observations. It's important for prospective campers to weigh these points to determine if this campground aligns with their expectations for "camping near me."
On the positive side, the reviewer highlighted exceptional customer service from the campground owner's nephew, who assisted with site navigation, parking, and hookups – a service not commonly encountered. The on-site diner also received a mention, particularly how the owner addressed an initial service issue with a generous offer of a free lunch. While the group didn't accept, the gesture was appreciated. The Halloween event was a significant highlight, described as "spectacular" with great decorations and enthusiastic participation from seasonal campers, making it a fun experience for the children. The reviewer also noted the delicious breakfast, pumpkin carving, and costume contest associated with the event. The gated nature of the park was seen as a positive security feature, and the availability of a tank dumping service adds convenience for RVers. The scenic environment, with a pond and distant cornfields, contributed to the park's appeal.
However, the same reviewer also detailed several cons that significantly impacted their overall experience and their decision not to return. The initial welcome from the owner was described as unwelcoming, with a reprimand about using a "private driveway" as an entrance, despite the lack of clear signage on the route suggested by Google Maps. A subsequent interaction with a staff member in the rec hall regarding bathroom locations was also described as "nasty" and unhelpful. On departure, confusion arose regarding trash disposal, with conflicting instructions and the need to carry trash a distance to the receptacles. The reviewer pointed out a lack of clear campground maps, rules, and activity lists, which contributed to some of the issues encountered. Finally, the campsites were noted as being small and close together, reducing privacy.
Despite these criticisms, another reviewer offered a more positive perspective, describing Nor Win Campgrounds as a "great place to camp" with "really friendly and helpful" staff and "very nice and respectful" people overall. This contrasting feedback suggests that individual experiences may vary, and perhaps the atmosphere can depend on the specific circumstances of a visit.
Combining these insights, potential local users searching for "camping near me" at Nor Win Campgrounds & Fruit Farm Inc. can anticipate a campground that offers a range of amenities, including RV and tent sites, and potentially cabin rentals (though not explicitly mentioned in the provided text). The presence of an on-site diner is a notable feature, offering a convenient option for meals. The campground seems to host engaging seasonal events, with the Halloween weekend being particularly praised. The gated entrance may provide an added sense of security for campers.
However, prospective visitors should also be aware of the potential for negative interactions with some staff or seasonal residents, as highlighted in one detailed review. The lack of clear signage and information upon arrival could lead to initial frustrations. The size and spacing of campsites might be a concern for those seeking more privacy. It would be prudent for potential campers to inquire about campground maps, rules, and trash disposal procedures upon arrival to mitigate some of these issues.
As Nor Win Campgrounds & Fruit Farm Inc. is also a fruit farm, it's possible that they offer seasonal fruit picking opportunities or sell fresh produce, which could be a unique feature for visitors, although this is not explicitly stated in the provided information. To get the most up-to-date information on services, features, and any current promotional offers, local users are encouraged to contact Nor Win Campgrounds & Fruit Farm Inc. directly at the provided phone numbers. Asking about site availability, specific amenities for RV and tent campers, diner hours, and any upcoming events would be beneficial in planning your "camping near me" experience at this Lyons, NY location.
In conclusion, Nor Win Campgrounds & Fruit Farm Inc. offers a local camping option with some appealing features, such as a diner and engaging events. However, it's essential for potential campers to consider the mixed reviews regarding customer service and site conditions when making their decision. Direct communication with the campground is recommended to ensure it meets your specific needs and expectations for your next camping trip in the Lyons, NY area.

Nor Win Campgrounds & Fruit Farm Inc. Reviews
My camping group of friends, about 10 adults and 9 kids camped here for NorWin's Halloween weekend. It was our first time here, and had heard such good things about this place, so we thought we would give it a try. We are very experienced RV campers and have had our run of good campgrounds, so-so places, and down right awful places. I would say this place rates as so so. Giving 2 stars as the over all attitude there was not only from management but from the seasonal residents too. Not very welcoming to weekend campers. I am listing all the pros and cons so that you can make your own informed decision on whether or not you want to try this place.PROS: Campground owner's nephew was very helpful in showing us to our site, and helping us back in and hook up electric, water, etc. No other campground has ever done that, so that was good customer service. We ate at the diner on site on our arrival night. The service was so-so, but our group walked in to place our orders at once so they got a bit overwhelmed which was understandable. The owner decided that the service wasn't acceptable and offered us free lunch the following day. Having a personal apology was nice. It wasn't expected and we didn't take her up on her offer as we were partially at fault for them being overwhelmed with the size of our group. The Halloween event was spectacular. The kids had a great time! The decorations were great, the people were generally happy handing out candy. So awesome to see so many seasonal campers participating. And The breakfast, pumpkin carving and costume contest was also delicious and fun. The park is gated giving an element of safety. Additionally, they offer a service to dump your tanks if you choose to use. Nice park and scenic from the onsite pond and cornfields in the distance.CONS:Ok, so here is my vent part of the review. We won't be back here for the attitudes of some of the owners and seasonal people. When we arrived, there was no 'Hello, how can I help you', it was a "just so you know, next time you can't use that entrance, it is a private driveway. Didn't you see the big sign?' I will post pics of the entrance that Google maps took us to. There is NO sign stating private drive or campground entrance ahead. NOTHING. That was my first interaction and welcome from the owner. I was reactionary but decided I was probably not coming off the right way either so checked my attitude and started asking questions about the weekend festivities. Second, when we were waiting for our dinner the first night, my son had to use the bathroom. I went to the rec hall and the lady working in there was nasty. I asked her if she could tell me where the campground bathrooms were. Exactly how I asked it. She literally snapped at me and said "In your camper". When I looked at her sort offended and about to blow up as this is all on the first night, the woman next to her explained where the public restrooms were. On exiting the park, we did not know where the trash receptacles were. We saw some empty cans next to the rec hall so figured that is where we put it and then maintenance would take it. this old woman came out and said that the trash goes up where the private drive is. My husband started asking questions. We can't drive up there, it is a private driveway. She told us that we would be closer when we drove through the exit and then we could carry our trash up the hill to the trash receptacles. Pics also posted. Attitudes were awful here. So much could be solved had they given out campground maps, instructions/rules, activity lists, etc. Sites are small and tight. We could hear our neighbor's campfire conversations on both sides of us. They were nice, so no worries there. So there is my review. Take it for what it is. We personally won't be back, but the festivities were fun and the kids enjoyed it.
Sep 23, 2018 · Tammra SchillerGreat place to camp.. Staff is really friendly and helpful. All the people are very nice and respectful.
Jul 15, 2022 · Brad SteinruckFun for whole family always something to do. Pool has life guard!! No parents needed
Jul 08, 2018 · Joel WarrenI'm going to start this with I haven't been to the restrooms or showers. (most of my camping reviews include those)Nor Win is so friendly!! I love the campfire cafe option. We were full hook up for a week and then decided to come back pretty much every weekend in July & August to an electric+water site. Most of the seasonal campers are so friendly even the ones who weren't our friends to begin with.I've checked out most of the local campgrounds from Macedon to Chimney bluffs and NorWin is by far my favorite so far.Hay ride two days a weekend, a great pool, and themed activities almost every weekend. We'll probably try to be seasonal next season. Also, there's not a ridiculous amount of speed bumps!! Biggest annoyance in most campgrounds. Noone drives fast and it's awesome to not have 500000 of those to go over 🤣
Jul 24, 2023 · Collene DoneyAbsolutely loved our week long vaca at Nor Wins!!!!! The kids had a blast!!! tons of seasonal campers but all super friendly not like some other campgrounds.... everyone was so nice. Lots of room to run and play!!! The owners Emily and Derrick were absolutely amazing!!!! Running around doing chores, running the store, food shed, and still have time to graciously interact with campers and kids! Looking forward to returning next year!!!
