Northshore Campground

Clark Creek Rd, Burney, CA 96013, USA

4.0
We camped for two nights over the Labor Day weekend and enjoyed the close proximity to burney falls and lassen np. The road into the campground could use some work, lots of ruts and dips that need to be filled but if you go slow you will be fine. We had #17 that was described as an 80’ pull through but it sure seemed much shorter than that as we have a 25’ trailer and a Ford truck. We fit the space fine but not much to spare. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. - Ruth Strom

Northshore Campground Introduce

If you're searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Burney, California, Northshore Campground, located at Clark Creek Rd, Burney, CA 96013, USA, is one option to consider. Its location offers convenient access to some of the region's natural attractions, making it a potentially appealing base for exploring the area. Several reviews provide insights into the campground's accessibility, amenities, and overall atmosphere, which are important factors for local users planning a camping trip.

One of the frequently mentioned advantages of Northshore Campground is its close proximity to notable landmarks. For those interested in visiting Burney Falls State Park and Lassen Volcanic National Park, this campground serves as a convenient gateway. Campers have expressed appreciation for the short travel distances to these popular destinations, making it easy to incorporate visits to these natural wonders into their camping itinerary. This proximity can be a significant draw for local residents looking for a camping experience that combines outdoor relaxation with opportunities for sightseeing and exploration of nearby parks.

However, it's important to be aware of some of the challenges highlighted in the reviews. One recurring concern pertains to the condition of the road leading into the campground. Multiple visitors have noted that the road "could use some work," describing it as having "lots of ruts and dips." While one reviewer suggests that navigating the road slowly will likely be manageable, this is a factor that potential campers should consider, especially those with larger vehicles or trailers. It might be prudent to exercise caution and drive at a reduced speed to ensure a safe arrival at the campground.

Regarding the campsites themselves, one review provided specific feedback about site #17. This site was described as an 80’ pull-through, but the camper with a 25’ trailer and a Ford truck found it to be shorter than expected. While they were able to fit their setup, they noted that there was "not much to spare." This suggests that the actual usable length of some pull-through sites might be less than advertised, and campers with larger rigs should perhaps inquire about the specific dimensions of their reserved site beforehand to avoid any unforeseen difficulties upon arrival.

In contrast to the concerns about the road conditions and campsite size, one positive aspect highlighted in a review was the friendliness and helpfulness of the "camp hosts." This suggests that some visitors have had positive interactions with the campground staff, finding them to be accommodating and willing to assist with any needs or questions. Friendly and helpful hosts can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, contributing to a more welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

However, a significantly contrasting and deeply concerning review paints a very negative picture of the campground hosts and the overall environment. This review alleges "awful" hosts with a "fake demeanor" and makes serious accusations of alcoholism and prioritizing money over the well-being of others. Furthermore, it details disturbing accounts of alleged employee mistreatment, including claims of verbal threats, poisoning from cleaning chemicals, and a climate of fear of homelessness for those living and working on the property. The reviewer mentions witnessing these incidents firsthand, including alleged bleach burns on an employee, and states that these incidents were recorded. This review also references a past situation involving another couple who worked at the campground and a subsequent court case, in which the current reviewer and others are reportedly witnesses. The reviewer explicitly advises others not to book at Northshore Campground under the current management and states that their entire family has decided to avoid the campground until new hosts are appointed.

Given the starkly contrasting nature of these reviews, it is challenging to provide a definitive objective assessment of the current state of Northshore Campground. While one review highlights the convenient location and friendly hosts, the other raises very serious allegations regarding the behavior and treatment of individuals associated with the campground. Potential local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider both perspectives and perhaps seek more recent information from a variety of sources before making a booking decision. The serious nature of the allegations in the negative review warrants significant caution.

It is important for local users to be aware of all available feedback to make an informed decision that aligns with their expectations and priorities for a camping experience. While the proximity to attractions like Burney Falls and Lassen National Park remains a potential benefit, the concerns raised about the road conditions, potential discrepancies in campsite sizes, and especially the grave allegations regarding the campground hosts and employee treatment cannot be ignored. Prospective campers might want to look for more recent reviews or contact the campground directly to inquire about the current management and conditions before making a reservation.

In conclusion, Northshore Campground offers a location near popular natural attractions in Northern California. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues concerning the road leading to the campground and potential variations in campsite sizes. Furthermore, there are significant and disturbing allegations regarding the campground hosts and the treatment of employees, which should be carefully considered alongside any positive feedback. Local users looking for "camping near me" are advised to weigh all available information and exercise caution when considering a stay at Northshore Campground based on the currently available reviews.
