PSEA Camp Shasta Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Burney, California area, perhaps looking for a family-friendly campground with amenities like a pool? PSEA Camp Shasta, located on Clark Creek Road, has historically been a destination for families. However, recent feedback from visitors paints a picture of a campground facing significant maintenance challenges. For local users considering a visit, it's crucial to be aware of the current conditions as described by those who have recently stayed there.
The environment surrounding PSEA Camp Shasta, situated near Burney, CA, likely offers the natural beauty typical of this region of Northern California. While the reviews don't extensively detail the natural surroundings, the mention of a swimming pool and playground suggests a more developed campground setting rather than a purely wilderness experience. The fact that it has been a family campground for decades implies a location conducive to outdoor family activities. However, the focus of the recent reviews is more on the state of the facilities than the natural environment itself.
Based on the customer reviews, the services and features of PSEA Camp Shasta appear to have included cabins, a swimming pool (with a separate children's pool), a playground, and potentially a basketball court and ping pong table. One reviewer who stayed in a cabin reported a backed-up shower that was only temporarily fixed by the caretaker, suggesting issues with cabin maintenance. The swimming pool is a significant feature that has been a source of disappointment for recent visitors, with reports of a non-functioning filter system and green algae. The children's pool has reportedly been covered over by a deck. Other recreational facilities also seem to be in disrepair, such as a basketball hoop about to fall off and a ping pong table lacking a net. The presence of a caretaker on-site indicates some level of staff service, though their ability to address the maintenance issues effectively seems limited due to a lack of resources or expertise.
Historically, PSEA Camp Shasta seems to have been a well-maintained family campground, as noted by a returning visitor who expressed sadness at its current state. The potential for a family-friendly camping experience with a pool and recreational facilities would have been a key promotional aspect. The location near Burney, CA, likely provided a base for exploring local attractions in the Shasta-Trinity region. However, the recent reviews paint a different picture, highlighting significant maintenance issues that detract from the overall experience.
The most pressing information from the recent reviews serves as a cautionary note rather than a promotion. The recurring theme is the declining condition of the facilities, particularly the swimming pool, cabins, and recreational areas. One long-time visitor expressed that their family might not return if the pool is not properly functioning. Another alarming note is the sighting of rattlesnakes, with three being killed and left near the playground, raising safety concerns for families with young children. These issues overshadow any potential promotional appeal based on past experiences.
For local users searching for "camping near me" with the expectation of well-maintained facilities, especially a swimming pool, the recent feedback suggests that PSEA Camp Shasta may not currently meet those expectations. While it may have once been a favored family destination, the reported lack of upkeep on cabins, the pool, and recreational areas is a significant concern. The presence of rattlesnakes near the playground also adds a layer of caution for families.
Despite these negative reports, the phone numbers provided, (530) 335-2027 and +1 530-335-2027, could be used by interested local users to inquire directly about the current status of the campground and whether any of the reported issues have been addressed. It's possible that efforts are underway to improve the conditions. However, based solely on the recent customer reviews, there are significant concerns about the maintenance and safety of PSEA Camp Shasta.
In conclusion, PSEA Camp Shasta near Burney, CA, was once a cherished family campground with amenities like cabins, a swimming pool, and a playground. However, recent reviews indicate a decline in maintenance, with issues reported in the cabins, the swimming pool (algae, non-functioning filter), the playground, and other recreational facilities. There was also a mention of rattlesnakes being found on the property. For local users searching for "camping near me," it is strongly recommended to contact PSEA Camp Shasta directly using the provided phone numbers to get the most current information on the campground's condition before planning a visit. The recent feedback suggests a need for significant improvements to restore the campground to its former standards.

PSEA Camp Shasta Reviews
My family visited last month. I had visited here as a child but had not been back in decades. Sadly, this family campground has gone downhill. The shower in our cabin was backed up, and although the caretaker on site attempted to fix it, the shower plugged up several times after. She attempted to fix it again and that was just a temporary fix. It appears there are no funds for keeping the cabins in good condition, as well as the swimming pool and playground area. The basketball hoop is about to fall off, there are weeds right next to the pool coming out of the cement, and the children's pool has been covered over by a deck with folding chairs. The ping pong table has no net. The swimming pool has a broken skimmer. This all makes me sad, as these campsites used to be far better maintained. I don't anticipate we will be returning. On a side note, there were 3 rattlesnakes that were caught and killed by a visitor of another cabin. These snakes were left dead, draped over a rock next to the firepit. No attempt was made by the caretaker to dispose of the snakes. I have a young child and did not want these deadly dead snakes right next to the playground. Please, can anyone help save this campsite?
Jul 22, 2024 · Andrea KillionPool needs major work. I’ve been coming up here for over 40 years. I enjoy looking forward to this trip every year. Pool was a big disappointment. Filter system not working and green alga. My son and dad tried numerous times to get it going and they did for a bit. But Shasta need a pro to take care of the system and get it working properly. The caretaker had done her best. But has no clue. Said she was calling someone for help. Hopefully she did for the next arrivals. If not the pool will not be swimmable. maybe have a pool company come out at least twice a month to take care of it. This is my to go spot for the week. Just to relax by the pool and soak up the sun and the beauty of the nature. Sorry to say if the pool won’t be up and running our families probably won’t be back.KEEP THE POOL ALIVE!!!!SAVE CAMP SHASTA POOL!!!!
Jul 30, 2024 · Tammy ParcherNice accommodations. Apparently a little run down in the past. However, the new caretaker Bob is doing a great job to restore the natural beauty and appeal.
Jun 03, 2019 · Bob StotlerGreat host Bob. Have all essentials in place. BBQ is all up. Some more activities could have been added for more time to be spent.
