Thousand Trails Chehalis Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Chehalis, Washington area, Thousand Trails Chehalis, located at 2228 Centralia Alpha Rd, Chehalis, WA 98532, USA, is one option to consider. You can reach them at (360) 262-9489 or +1 360-262-9489 for inquiries. However, it's crucial to be aware of recent customer feedback regarding the condition and maintenance of this particular Thousand Trails location to make an informed decision about your camping plans.
While one reviewer noted that "the sites themselves, are actually really nice" and another mentioned having a "great site" and being "lucky" to find a full hook-up site, the overall sentiment expressed in the available reviews paints a concerning picture regarding the upkeep and amenities of Thousand Trails Chehalis. Multiple customers have voiced significant disappointment with various aspects of the campground.
Several reviewers highlighted issues with the cleanliness and functionality of the amenities. One camper described the "bathrooms were gross + water hardly came out of the shower." This suggests potential problems with hygiene and basic utilities. Furthermore, the same reviewer noted that "the pickleball courts are horrible" and "the washing machines did not work," indicating a lack of maintenance and unusable recreational facilities. These issues can significantly impact the comfort and convenience of a camping stay, especially for those relying on these amenities.
Another recurring theme in the reviews is the poor overall maintenance of the campground. One customer stated that "everything is completely overgrown and not taken care of," while another mentioned "lawns dead and unmowed" and "weeds took over kids park up in F area." These descriptions suggest a lack of attention to basic landscaping and upkeep, potentially detracting from the aesthetic appeal and usability of the campground's common areas. The overgrown conditions could also contribute to other issues, such as pest problems or limited accessibility.
Concerns regarding pet waste management were also raised. One reviewer pointed out "dog crap everywhere" and noted that "during my 10 day stay not a single dog station had any dog bags." This lack of available waste disposal bags can lead to unsanitary conditions throughout the park and negatively impact the experience for all campers, including pet owners.
The accuracy of the campground's information also appears to be an issue. One review mentioned that "the park map is completely outdated and not accurate at all to the trails around the park." This can be frustrating and potentially unsafe for campers trying to navigate the area or explore nearby trails. Reliable and up-to-date information is essential for a positive and safe camping experience.
Perhaps the most concerning feedback involves safety. One solo female traveler reported hearing "a lot of thousand trails members saying that this location has had a lot of crime" and stated that this made her feel "fairly unsafe." While these are secondhand accounts, such concerns should be taken seriously by potential visitors. It's advisable to be aware of your surroundings and take necessary safety precautions when camping alone or in any unfamiliar environment.
The enforcement of Thousand Trails' own standards regarding the condition of RVs also seems to be lacking at this location, according to one reviewer. They stated, "There were MANY RVs at this location that were COMPLETE junk and look like they had been there for years," despite the handbook requiring RVs to be in at least "acceptable or in 'ok' shape." This suggests a potential lack of consistent management oversight regarding the appearance and condition of the campsites, which can impact the overall aesthetic and potentially the safety of the campground.
Furthermore, one reviewer described feeling "stuck sandwiched right between two absolute dump RVs when there was lots of open sites" as a solo traveler, which contributed to their discomfort and early departure. This indicates potential issues with site assignment and a lack of consideration for camper comfort and preferences.
While one reviewer did mention a "friendly cashier in store" and that "laundry was nice," these isolated positive comments are overshadowed by the more prevalent negative feedback concerning the overall condition and maintenance of the campground. The discrepancy between the nice individual campsites and the poorly maintained common areas and amenities is a significant point of concern.
For local users searching for "camping near me," it is crucial to weigh these recent negative reviews heavily when considering Thousand Trails Chehalis. While the individual campsites might be adequate, the reported issues with bathrooms, showers, recreational facilities, general maintenance, pet waste, outdated information, and potential safety concerns could significantly detract from your camping experience. If you are a Thousand Trails member, it's worth noting that one reviewer who had a negative experience at this location found their second Thousand Trails stay to be "really nice," suggesting that conditions can vary significantly between different Thousand Trails campgrounds.
Given the substantial negative feedback, it would be prudent for potential campers to contact Thousand Trails Chehalis directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current conditions, any recent improvements, and their policies regarding maintenance and safety. You may also want to explore other campgrounds in the Chehalis, WA area that appear in your "camping near me" search to compare amenities, reviews, and pricing before making a reservation.
In conclusion, while Thousand Trails Chehalis offers individual campsites that some reviewers found nice, there are significant concerns regarding the overall maintenance, cleanliness, functionality of amenities, pet waste management, accuracy of information, and potential safety issues based on recent customer experiences. Local users looking for "camping near me" should carefully consider these factors and potentially seek more information or explore alternative campgrounds in the Chehalis area to ensure a more enjoyable and comfortable camping trip. It is always recommended to prioritize campgrounds with consistently positive reviews and well-maintained facilities.

Thousand Trails Chehalis Reviews
VERY disappointed with this location. This was my very first Thousand Trails stay and after this, I was questioning everything. The sites themselves, are actually really nice. However, every single amenity was horrible. The bathrooms were gross + water hardly came out of the shower, the pickleball courts are horrible, the washing machines did not work, everything is completely overgrown and not taken care of, dog crap everywhere and during my 10 day stay not a single dog station had any dog bags, the dog park was horrible, the park map is completely outdated and not accurate at all to the trails around the park. Additionally, I heard a lot of thousand trails members saying that this location has had a lot of crime which made me feel fairly unsafe as a solo female.According the thousand trails handbook, RVs must be at least acceptable or in "ok" shape. There were MANY RVs at this location that were COMPLETE junk and look like they had been there for years.I was stuck sandwiched right between two absolute dump RVs when there was lots of open sites. As a solo traveler it felt uncomfortable. I ended up leaving a few nights early. With this being the very first thousand trails location I had expected that it would be taken care of a little more. Im currently at my 2nd thousand trails location which is really nice. It's good to know this this Chehalis location is hopefully an odd ball.I will never ever stay here again.
Mar 10, 2025 · Kymberlie DevlinWe had a great site. Lucky we found a full hook up site. Too bad the surrounding areas were unkempt. Lawns dead and unmowed. Weeds took over kids park up in F area. Bathroom Lawns over grown and extremely dry. Only went into restroom once. It was clean but needed upgrade toilet seats😵💫. Friendly cashier in store. Laundry was nice. Upper lawn areas looked mowed but extremely dry. For worrying about fires, should water down roads and definitely Lawns EVERYWHERE!! For the money people pay as maintenances fees, this park needs to be maintained better. Pool sites nice. The worker lady with long blond hair, very efficient. She's the only one I noticed worked hard.
Jul 19, 2024 · Shelly BlantonMy wife and I took our vintage truck and trailer here for it's first camping trip. This place is tucked up on a hill, with the entrance easily missed if it wasn't for the big "Thousand Trails" flag! It was quiet, and the air smelled so nicely of damp earth, even though we were across the road from the bathrooms (necessary, as we didn't have one in our camper!) which says a lot about their maintenance. The lady who checked us in was very polite, even though she had a hard time finding our reservation due to someone else's mistake (wrote our name wrong on the mirror hanger and paperwork, though other info was right) and several other guests greeted us and even took pictures of our "vintage setup". There were only two small things I'd have to say were negative. One, the sites could use a little TLC in the form of cutting back some of the vegetation to the edge of the sites and roads so it doesn't scrape on vehicles, cleaning the picnic tables and water/power hookups so they look usable, as well as fixing/painting the site numbers. Our site number post wasn't even there, we figured it out by the excellent map handed to us at check-in. Two, the quiet hours could use some enforcement. I've got nothing against kids having a good time on a trip, but running around screaming til midnight or later is not relaxing. Next time I'll bring earplugs. We are already planning next year's trip there.
Aug 29, 2024 · CJ BalkeQuite run down the map they gave us didn't exactly match up with the actual campground. Quite confusing and stressful to 'find' your site since it's first come first served... are we supposed to drive around with the trailer loops A through F to fine our site ?!The mini golf is falling apart and there was so much debris on it couldn't actually use it. One game room was close due to 'vandalism'.The bathrooms were cleaned once a day at most by afternoon they were completely out of toilet paper. The showers were falling apart, broken tiles and just dirty. The pools were in good condition.Could be a great place to stay but needs some tlc and updating for sure !!
Jul 22, 2024 · Angela LyonsVery run down and money definitely not put into the resort. Three quarters of the bathrooms are broke, over filled or taped off. The sites are overgrown with weeds. By looking at past reviews it was brought up before. The lodges were so hot and smelt like sewer from no exhaust. Would be a beautiful resort if the owners put the money back into the park. Only good thing was they have two pools and were much needed during the 90 degree heat.
