Looking for a "camping near me" option in Central Florida that offers a convenient location between the major attractions of Orlando and Tampa? The Orlando Southwest KOA Holiday, situated at 2525 Frontage Rd in Davenport, FL, provides a well-regarded basecamp for exploring the region, including Disney World and Legoland. Based on customer reviews, this KOA offers a mix of accessibility, essential amenities, and a generally positive experience, making it a viable choice for various types of campers.
The environment of Orlando Southwest KOA Holiday benefits from its strategic location. Situated just off the highway, it offers easy access for travelers coming from different directions. The reviews highlight its convenient position between Orlando and Tampa, making it an ideal stop for those planning to visit attractions in both areas. The proximity to "plenty of gas stations, restaurants and stores" adds to the convenience, ensuring that campers have easy access to essential supplies and dining options. While one reviewer noted the ongoing construction of apartments visible from the grounds, acknowledging that in an urban landscape, such development is expected, the overall environment is geared towards providing a functional and accessible camping experience rather than a completely secluded natural retreat. The fact that it has served as an "oasis" for travelers going between South Florida and the Tampa/Orlando area suggests a comfortable and reliable stopover.
The services at Orlando Southwest KOA Holiday appear to be generally positive, with specific mentions of helpful staff. While one review highlighted a negative interaction with a front desk employee, it also praised other staff members, including a "wonderful" housekeeping team and another helpful front office staff member who went above and beyond. This suggests that while there might be inconsistencies, many staff members are dedicated to providing good service. As a KOA Holiday campground, it is likely to offer a range of services typical of the KOA brand. These often include well-maintained RV sites with hookups for water, electricity, and sewer, as well as potentially cabin rentals for those without RVs. You can likely expect clean restroom and shower facilities, laundry services, and possibly a camp store for basic necessities and souvenirs. Recreational amenities often found at KOA Holiday locations might include a swimming pool, playground, and perhaps organized activities, although these are not specifically mentioned in the provided reviews. The availability of utilities at the campsites is noted as consistently working as expected, which is a crucial service for RV travelers.
The features of Orlando Southwest KOA Holiday cater to a variety of camping needs. The campground offers both RV sites and potentially cabin rentals, providing options for different types of travelers. The review mentions that not all sites are perfectly level and are on gravel, which is a common feature of many campgrounds and is noted as still being "better than many campgrounds." The consistent functionality of utilities (water, electricity, sewer) is a significant feature for RVers. The location just off the highway provides easy access, and the proximity to Orlando and Tampa attractions is a major feature for those planning to visit Disney World, Legoland, or other regional highlights. The mention of birthday balloons provided by a helpful staff member suggests a welcoming and thoughtful approach to guest experiences. While the ongoing apartment construction might be considered a less desirable feature for some due to the changing view, it is acknowledged as a part of the urban landscape. The fact that repeat visitors have used this KOA as a regular stopover indicates that it offers reliable and satisfactory features for their travel needs.

Orlando Southwest KOA Holiday Reviews
There was a woman in their name Deborah/Debra, At the front desk, who was awful, rude to everybody that walked in there, I cannot believe that they have her upfront and personal with the people. There’s a Debbie and her husband who work outside I think they’re with housekeeping they were wonderful, so helpful in everything. There was also another woman in the front office who is nice I didn’t know. I don’t know her name, though. She was very helpful. she got us birthday balloons and stuff. Everybody was superb nice. It was a wonderful stay except for Deborah to short hair awful. I have never ever complained like that about somebody because I worked in the public. I was a waitress., With that being said I have again I have never complained about anybody that’s how awful this woman was. She needs to not be there. I mean I don’t know if I have to work with her all day. I’d be cranky.
Apr 22, 2025 · Catherine IoritoWe have stayed here multiple times, visiting both Disney and Legoland. Overall we have enjoyed our stays. Once we were stuck pretty close to our neighbors but it all worked out. It’s in a great location between Orlando and Tampa, and just off the highway with plenty of gas stations, restaurants and stores. Not all sites are very level and on gravel, but it’s still better than many campgrounds and all of the utilities have always worked as expected. Very nice office staff. They are building apartments off the road, some are viewable from the grounds, would have rather seen sky, but it’s expected that that in an urban landscape they would not let prime real estate site as over-brush. Our last stop there was last August or September of 2024, and we have been using this as an oasis for last few years, going between home in South Florida and Tampa / Orlando area.
Mar 09, 2025 · Martin PAmazing Koa super well maintained very cleaned, kids playground area was great. Bathrooms very cleaned. Close to all of Disney's attractions about 15-20min or less. Definitely staying here again.Debbie and Guy at housekeeping were great.
Mar 31, 2025 · Marlene MarquesAlthough this campground is a good location & nice facilities, BED BUGS continue to be a problem in their cabins. They are obviously not doing enough to remediate this problem. We did receive a refund for our stay but never from management about our complaint. All we know from staff is an exterminator sprays around cabins once a month which is not a solution for bed bugs. Would like to know they are doing more as KOA is one of our favorite brands we usually can count on for their high standards.
Mar 25, 2025 · Myra EstelaIt's a KOA, so it is essentially a grassy parking lot. 10 feet to your neighbor. And overpriced. $87 a night with my 'discount' is a lot. Premium sites come with patios, some have their own little dog pen. We had a route change and because of our last minute reservation we had to move once in our first four days here. When I called here they made it sound like they were fully booked and were doing me a favor by finding me a site. But when we got here there were dozens of empty spaces. And they stayed empty during our visit. Many long term/seasonal and permanent residents which is typical. They have regular and deluxe cabins. A heated pool and spa, but be warned, old people in swimwear! Usual stuff, mini-golf, playground, toys and games. The most popular was a covered inflated bouncy area. Laundry rooms were air conditioned and mostly clean, reasonable $4.00 per load wash/dry. Place is mostly cared for, and staff were daily working on things like painting and staining, though there were obvious signs of neglected maintenance. Like broken concrete. And whoever paints doesn't tape anything off so there is always paint slop. Bathrooms are 'mostly' clean and smell like cleaner, but they don't do a good job. There are mineral deposits and rust on floors and walls. And the windows and vents are filthy. No one cleans any higher than 5ft. They were out of propane here during most of our stay which was odd. This is right at the juncture of the I-4 and US-27 so there is a lot of traffic and vehicle noise, especially sirens. All day and night with the sirens. And traffic is very bad, it took me 12 minutes to go under 2 miles on US-27 to the Dodge dealer. Disney World is just 10 miles away, so that could be 25 minutes or 2 hours, both directions. I got gas less than a mile away and at 4pm it took us 28 minutes to go less than one mile. But people here don't seem to go anywhere, many just sit all day. They have a rec room with computers, tv and little library. Doesn't look like it gets used. They have a store with a few items, souvenirs and some camping essentials. As expected it's all expensive. There are no activities like at other KOA's. One annoying thing is that they don't allow people to use the dumpster. You have to put your trash out from 8-4 and they pick it up. Which means if you have a lot of stinky trash after making dinner, you have to wait until morning to put it out. They have a 10mph speed limit which doesn't seem to apply to the staff. And they can't go 20 feet without using their carts. We camped at Orlando Southwest KOA Holiday in a Fifth Wheel.
