The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort Introduce
For local Orlando residents and visitors seeking a distinctive 'camping near me' experience, The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, located at 4510 Fort Wilderness Trail, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830, USA, offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of Florida while still being within the magic of Walt Disney World Resort. This campground provides a variety of accommodation options and recreational activities, making it a potential choice for families and individuals looking for an alternative to traditional Disney hotel stays.
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort caters to different camping styles, offering both traditional campsites for RVs and tents, as well as cabin rentals for those seeking a more structured lodging experience. According to a recent guest, the RV camping experience can be quite good for those who enjoy traditional camping. The resort boasts multiple dining locations and a range of activities, suggesting a well-rounded offering for outdoor enthusiasts and Disney fans alike.
However, recent customer reviews also highlight some areas of concern that potential visitors should be aware of. One guest who stayed in a cabin reported issues with service and cleanliness, indicating a need to request cleaning and experiencing limitations on provided amenities such as towels and blankets. This guest also noted the absence of pool towels, a standard amenity at other Disney resorts, and an overall lack of the "magic" typically associated with a Disney stay.
Another review detailed significant disappointments during a birthday trip. These included the unexpected closure of the children's pool for a substantial part of a day due to water quality issues, which was particularly impactful given the short duration of the stay and the presence of only one children's pool on the property. The guest also expressed dissatisfaction with the "stocked pond" fishing experience, noting a small and crowded dock and a lack of success in catching any fish despite purchasing live bait, suggesting a discrepancy between expectations set during booking and the actual experience.
These reviews collectively suggest that while The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort may offer a more affordable option for families, particularly those who are avid Disney fans and accustomed to camping, the experience might differ significantly from that of a traditional Disney hotel resort. Aspects such as service responsiveness, amenity provisions, and the quality of recreational offerings appear to be areas where some guests have experienced dissatisfaction.
Despite these concerns, the allure of staying within the Walt Disney World Resort and having access to its transportation system and proximity to the theme parks remains a significant draw for many. The availability of multiple dining options within Fort Wilderness itself adds convenience for campers who may not want to cook all their meals. The variety of activities mentioned, although not detailed in the provided reviews, likely includes options for entertainment and recreation suitable for different age groups.
For local users considering The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort as a 'camping near me' option, it is advisable to weigh the potential cost savings against the reported differences in service and amenities compared to other Disney resorts. If the primary focus is on enjoying the outdoors and having access to Disney's infrastructure at a potentially lower price point, and if you are prepared to manage some aspects of service yourself, it might still be a viable option.
However, it is crucial to set realistic expectations based on the recent feedback. The "Disney premium" that guests often pay for the brand's experience might not fully translate to the camping and cabin stays at Fort Wilderness, at least according to some recent visitors. Potential campers might want to inquire specifically about cabin services, amenity provisions (such as towels and linens), and the current status and reliability of recreational facilities like the pools and fishing areas when making their booking.
Promotional information for The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort typically highlights its rustic charm, spacious campsites, and the unique opportunity to experience the Disney magic in a more natural setting. Activities such as campfire sing-alongs, interactions with Disney characters, and the scenic beauty of the resort are often emphasized. While these aspects may still hold true for many visitors, the recent reviews suggest that the execution of service and the quality of some amenities might not consistently meet the high standards expected of the Disney brand.
In conclusion, The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort offers a unique 'camping near me' option within the Walt Disney World Resort, providing a blend of outdoor accommodation and access to Disney's world. While it can be a more affordable choice for families and offers various dining and recreational activities, recent guest reviews indicate potential shortcomings in service, cabin amenities, and the reliability of some recreational facilities. Local users considering this option should carefully weigh these factors and perhaps seek more up-to-date information or clarifications before booking to ensure it aligns with their expectations for a Disney experience.

The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort Reviews
We stayed here in March for spring break. We are avid Disney fans and love the resorts, but this was way more affordable for our family of six.I will say if you are into camping, it’s pretty good. There are multiple places to eat and activities. However, we stayed in a cabin and we basically had to beg for service and for them to clean. The cabin slept 6, but they only provide towels for 3. The blankets are super thin fleece ones. They don’t provide towels at the pool like a normal Disney resort. It just didn’t have the magic that staying in a resort did.
Apr 21, 2025 · Stephanie HI normally do not write reviews but when we talk about the brand name "Disney" we pay a premium for an experience. In this case there was nothing but disappointment. We checked in 04/25 for our sons birthday which everything went ok this day no issues. Saturday however we woke up and went to the kids pool at 12 (they open at 10). Right after we got there the staff tested the water and told everyone the pool had to be closed. They mentioned they needed to call their vendor to correct the issues. Fast forward it is 5pm and the pool was still closed (not sure when they actually reopened). When you are going on a short trip I understand things happen but you are disney and you have 1 kids pool on the whole ground that is shut down.Disappointment 2 was before we booked we were told there was a stocked pond on the property and just buy the live bait and you will be set. We did just that and 3 days of fishing and not a bite. They also have about a 20 ft long dock that you are required to fish from. Now mind you there are 1000 campsites which the dock fits about 5 people fishing otherwise you are casting on top of one another so safety you can't do more. But again you are disney can you not afford a bigger dock? Or and actual stocked pond? I understand it is fishing but it is also an experience that you pay the disney premium for.We have also stayed at plenty of the disney hotel resorts with no issues but the camping experience was a birthday disappointment.
Apr 29, 2025 · Angie PalankSites are generally larger than expected. Site 418 is a nice spot. Construction in 500 loop so lots of mechanical noise during the day. Amenities, like pool, are nice. E bikes are banned, only reason I can see that is so they can rent more golf carts. Prices of everything are a bit ridiculous. $230 a night for an rv lot is crazy but it's disney so$10 canned beer and overpriced sites are to be expected. It's an ok spot but I'll be glad to get out of here.
Apr 29, 2025 · Kayne PhillipsMe and my family went to Disney Fort wilderness spring break this year. I have to say it is awesome. The campground itself is just wonderful one of the things that I would definitely change which I’m still gonna give a five star review on because the campground was amazing, Is you do need to have Propane refills or where people can actually buy a propane tank seeing how it is a very expensive campground so people won’t have to drive off of the campground to go to Publix or Walmart to get refills. Every other campground that we’ve been to has had refills on propane this will help out the campground so much because not only were we there for one week, but we had no propane for our camper because we ran out, and we did not want to leave the campground so we just used the showers that were available which no problem but however, once again if it’s expensive, the campground itself then there should be propane on the campground. Please bring your own propane and even an extra tank. The front office was not very clear on why they didn’t have propane. The lady just said the guy that handled the propane before COVID has retired. However, there are plenty of companies out there that would do this. Plus it’s Disney. The money this place brings in there should PROPANE!!! We did love the deer , the turkeys and rabbits we saw. We also loved the HOOP DEE DOO Revue. There are so many friendly people we met here and it was a pleasure. The pools are so nice and so much fun. The campground is super clean and the slabs are nice and level. They have ponies and horses and my kids rode the ponies. They also had kayaks and canoes and ride did the kayaks. Super fun. They have scavenger hunts. We will be back during Christmas. 🎄 GIVE THIS CAMPGROUND A TRY. You will deff not regret it. It’s pretty awesome.
Apr 03, 2025 · Jacob RevelsIf you love disney but also camping, this is the place for you. What a great place to be, close to the magic kingdom, but it feels like you're miles away in the woods. You will experience wildlife deer to turkeys just walking around. The campsites are well up kept and cleaned between every stay and talk about world-class comfort stations (restrooms). ALWAYS clean, well stocked, and never smell. Give the Fort a try, and you will never stay anywhere else on disney property again.
