Payne Campground Introduce
For local users in the Acworth, Georgia area searching for 'camping near me', Payne Campground, located at 2495 Kellogg Creek Rd, Acworth, GA 30102, USA, offers a potentially attractive option with its waterfront location and spacious campsites. You can reach them at (678) 721-6700 or +1 678-721-6700 for inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, Payne Campground presents a mixed picture, highlighting both its natural beauty and areas needing improvement, particularly regarding maintenance.
The environment of Payne Campground is a significant positive aspect, with reviewers repeatedly emphasizing its beauty and proximity to the water. One reviewer stated it's "absolutely gorgeous here" and praised its easy accessibility to the water, suggesting that many sites offer convenient access for fishing, boating, or simply enjoying the lakeside views. Another reviewer mentioned that some sites are "directly on the water," which would be a highly desirable feature for those seeking a true waterfront camping experience. The large and spread-out nature of the campsites also contributes to a pleasant environment, providing campers with more space and privacy compared to more crowded campgrounds. The overall setting appears to be one of natural beauty, centered around a water body, likely Kellogg Creek or a connected lake, offering a scenic backdrop for a camping getaway. Local users who value waterfront access and spacious sites will likely find the environment of Payne Campground appealing.
In terms of services, the customer reviews provide some insights, although not a comprehensive list. The presence of showers is mentioned, but a significant concern is raised about their cleanliness, with one reviewer noting the same lack of cleaning over three consecutive days. This suggests that while basic hygiene facilities are available, their maintenance may be lacking. The availability of fire pits at the campsites is also mentioned, a standard amenity for most campgrounds, enhancing the traditional camping experience for campfires and cooking. The positive comments about the staff working in the front office indicate that assistance and information are readily available upon arrival. However, there is no mention of other common campground services such as laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, or specific hookups for RVs (water, electricity, sewer). Given the varying levels of service implied by the reviews, local users should inquire directly about the availability and condition of specific amenities that are important to their camping needs.
Payne Campground's features are primarily centered around its natural setting and site characteristics. The large and spread-out campsites are a significant feature, offering more room and privacy for campers. The availability of waterfront sites is another key feature, providing direct access to water activities and scenic views. The easy accessibility to the water, as highlighted by a frequent visitor, makes it particularly attractive for those interested in fishing or simply enjoying the lake. While not explicitly stated, the potential for activities like picnicking, as mentioned by a reviewer who uses the location frequently, suggests open areas or picnic tables might be available. However, the lack of mention of specific recreational facilities like playgrounds or organized activities implies that the focus is more on the natural environment and individual campsite enjoyment. The contrast drawn with Red Mountain State Park, which is described as "beautiful and well maintained," underscores that while Payne Campground has appealing natural features, its maintenance standards might not be on par with other options in the area. Local users should weigh the attractive features like waterfront access and spacious sites against the reported maintenance issues when considering Payne Campground.
Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for Payne Campground. Campgrounds, especially those with mixed reviews regarding maintenance, might offer competitive pricing to attract visitors. Local users interested in potential discounts or special rates should contact Payne Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (678) 721-6700 or +1 678-721-6700. They might have information about seasonal rates, weekend specials, or discounts for local residents or extended stays. It's also worth inquiring if they have any loyalty programs or partnerships with local businesses that could offer additional value. Checking online camping platforms or review sites might occasionally reveal user-reported discounts, but the most reliable source of promotional information will be the campground management itself. Given the recent positive feedback from a frequent visitor, there might be ongoing efforts to improve the overall experience, and inquiring about current rates and any potential improvements in maintenance is advisable.
In conclusion, Payne Campground in Acworth, GA, offers a compelling option for local users seeking a 'camping near me' experience with beautiful waterfront access and spacious campsites. The positive reviews highlight the scenic environment and the ease of enjoying the water. However, potential visitors should be aware of the concerns raised regarding the cleanliness of facilities, particularly the showers, and the general maintenance of the sites. While the natural features are a strong draw, the level of upkeep appears to be an area for potential improvement. Local users are encouraged to contact Payne Campground directly to inquire about current conditions, services, and any available promotions, allowing them to make an informed decision based on their priorities for a camping getaway. Weighing the appealing waterfront location and spacious sites against the reported maintenance issues will be key for local campers considering Payne Campground.

Payne Campground Reviews
This campground has great potential. The sites are big and spread out for the most part. Some sites directly on the water.BUT… the sites are not cleaned (blown) and firepits not cleaned out. PLUS… I do not believe they clean the showers. I took a shower 3 days in a row and the same nasty black hair was on the wall all three days.It is a beautiful area and would be full all the time with a little maintenance. Next time we will go to Red Mountain State Park which absolutely beautiful and well maintained.
Apr 23, 2025 · whit1306Since July 4th,2024 I’ve went here at least once a day-Here we are at 8/6/24 and I still go- It’s absolutely gorgeous here, the Folks that work in the front are amazing. If your looking for a place that’s easily accessible to the water, this is the spot- But don’t take my word for it,see for yourselves
Aug 06, 2024 · Rickeyl DavisPayne is a larger campground than a few others in the area, but the loops mean most sites have water access. There is a nice clean swimming area, sectioned off with bright yellow booms. The staff is always available and very helpful. Plenty of safe space for kids to play.We were in site 34 and loved it. We just backed in to the site! We have an electric awning on our camper and it was hot when we arrived, but shortly after, the breeze kicked in and it was delightful.
May 06, 2024 · Jack “aka Richard” GraberPicture of campsite didn't match the campsite. Swampy and smelly. People brought dogs to play on the beach. Since we stayed there for five nights we were able to scout out better camp sites for future visits. Attendants were very friendly and professional.Dislike new check in and checkout time. Responsible campers are being hurt by those that don't vacant campsites on time, hence the new check out time. Charge late fees versus making us leave early- brought a day but not even getting a half day of use.
Apr 08, 2024 · CindyLouSites 30-36 are in a circle and are very tight. . We were in 36 which is right next to the roadway with little privacy and no shade. Google map your proposed site so you get what suits your needs. For boaters, there are many with easy water access and nice views. Staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived.
