Perch Lake Campground Introduce
For local users in Michigan's Upper Peninsula searching for "camping near me," Perch Lake Campground, located near Watton, MI 49970, USA, offers a picturesque lakeside camping experience. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground provides beautiful scenery and direct access to Perch Lake, making it an attractive option for those seeking a natural retreat.
One reviewer described Perch Lake Campground as an "Awesome little slice of heaven!" highlighting its natural beauty and appeal. They specifically booked site 12, which was noted to be on the lake and mostly shaded. The pleasant surprise of leftover firewood from a previous camper added to their positive experience. The reviewer praised the "Awesome lake and views" and the convenience of being able to access the lake directly from their campsite, which is a significant advantage for those who enjoy swimming or simply being close to the water.
Another reviewer echoed the sentiment, calling it a "beautiful campground!" They noted the variety of lots, some wooded and some sunny, with many situated right on the lake. This suggests that the campground offers a range of campsite environments to suit different preferences. A significant plus mentioned was that "The kids were able to swim/fish right off the campsite," emphasizing its family-friendly nature and the ease of enjoying lake activities. The presence of a boat launch further enhances its appeal for those interested in boating on Perch Lake.
In terms of facilities, one reviewer mentioned "pit toilets (which were the cleanest I've ever seen)." While pit toilets are a more rustic amenity, the cleanliness reported is a notable positive, indicating that the campground management pays attention to basic hygiene. The availability of a boat launch is another key service for those wishing to bring their own watercraft.
A practical piece of information for local users is that the sites are first come, first served, and the cost mentioned is "$14/night." This affordability, combined with the lakeside location, makes Perch Lake Campground a potentially budget-friendly option for "camping near me" in the Upper Peninsula.
However, one reviewer also shared a less positive aspect of their stay, involving a noisy and inconsiderate neighbor. This highlights that while the campground itself may be lovely, the behavior of other campers can sometimes impact the experience. The specific incidents mentioned included early morning noise from retrieving a truck from the boat launch and general loud behavior within the neighboring campsite, as well as some boundary-crossing social behavior. While these issues are not directly related to the campground's environment or services, they are real experiences of visitors and should be noted for a balanced perspective.
Considering the "environment," Perch Lake Campground is clearly situated in a beautiful, likely wooded area, given the mention of "wooded and sunny lots." Its primary feature is its location on Perch Lake, offering lakefront campsites with direct access for swimming and fishing, as well as scenic views. The presence of shade at some sites (like site 12) adds to the comfort, especially during warmer months. The overall environment seems to be one of natural beauty and tranquility, with the potential for peaceful enjoyment of the lake and surrounding woods. Local users seeking "camping near me" with a focus on natural beauty and lake access will find this environment highly appealing.
In terms of "services," Perch Lake Campground provides basic but essential services. These include campsites (some lakefront, some shaded, some wooded, some sunny), pit toilets (noted for cleanliness), and a boat launch for access to Perch Lake. The first-come, first-served system for site allocation is also a service aspect to be aware of. While more detailed amenities like water hookups, electricity, or showers are not mentioned, the focus seems to be on a more natural and less developed camping experience. The affordable nightly rate of $14 is also a significant service in terms of value for money.
The "features" of Perch Lake Campground include its beautiful lakeside location with direct lake access from many campsites, the variety of wooded and sunny lots, the cleanliness of the pit toilets, the availability of a boat launch, and its affordability at $14 per night. The first-come, first-served nature of the sites is also a key characteristic. For local users, the primary features are the scenic beauty and the opportunity for lake-related activities right from their campsite, all at a reasonable cost.
Regarding "promotional information," the price of $14 per night for a campsite can be considered a significant piece of promotional information, highlighting its affordability. The positive reviews emphasizing the beauty of the lake and the campground also serve as strong endorsements. As a first-come, first-served campground, there's no specific promotion related to booking in advance, but the low price point itself is a compelling factor for local campers looking for value. To get the most up-to-date information, local users might want to check with local authorities or online camping resources for any changes in pricing or regulations.
In conclusion, Perch Lake Campground offers local users in the Upper Peninsula a potentially idyllic "camping near me" experience centered around the beauty and recreational opportunities of Perch Lake. With lakefront access, a variety of campsites, clean basic facilities, and an affordable nightly rate, it stands out as an attractive option for those seeking a natural and budget-friendly getaway. Perch Lake Campground Reviews
Awesome little slice of heaven! We booked site 12 on the lake. Mostly shaded. Someone left us leftover firewood which we put to good use. Awesome lake and views. Able to get into lake from the site. Was mostly quiet except for our neighbor who decided he needed to retrieve his truck from the boat launch at 5am and then proceeded to bang around in his campsite till 7am. I might also add he was walking around in his site with a tshirt and underwear the night before….. and looking at us as if to say “are you looking at me 👀 “. I just can’t understand why other campers can’t be respectful of others? Be quiet from 11pm to 7am…….stay out of my site…..shut your kids/dogs up I don’t camp to listen to them.

Jul 30, 2021 · Amanda TurnbullNice sites. Only the lake side ones get used. Please remember to dock your boat by your site... Our neighbors keep walking thru our site to get to their boat. Rude.Verizon gets service here. 14 a night in 2019. Good fishing and quiet. Not as busy as Norway Lake. Dirt road was fine after a rain to get here and the canopy of trees is beautiful. If you like no bugs and showers - this isn't for you!
Jul 06, 2019 · Nicole MellinNice campground , but it needs some upgrades . We've been going there for a long time and it would be nice to see some upgrades to some of the sites , tables and fire pits .
Oct 23, 2021 · Duane KrykaStayed here on a solo sxs trip. Very very nice and I’m glad I left when I did because there was a tv camper that felt the need to run his AC all day. North campgrounds fault
