The environment at Pine Grove Campground is frequently described as serene and close to nature. One reviewer highlighted the "private and quiet tent site" that felt like being in a "wildlife refuge," particularly during the off-season. The tent sites are noted to face water, enhancing the natural beauty and providing a calming atmosphere. A significant environmental feature is the abundance of birdlife, with one camper mentioning hearing "so many different species of birds morning to night," making it a potentially excellent location for bird watchers. The presence of "beautiful trees" suggests a shaded and pleasant camping environment. However, one reviewer expressed concern about a recent increase in uncleaned dog waste and off-leash dogs, which, if not addressed, could detract from the overall enjoyment and safety, especially for families with young children.
The services and amenities at Pine Grove Campground appear to cater to both tent and potentially RV campers, although specific details regarding RV facilities are not extensively covered in the provided reviews. For tent campers, "burn rings" are available for campfires, a classic camping feature. The campground also offers practical amenities such as "bathhouses with showers" and a "play set for children," indicating its suitability for families. "No shortage of picnic tables" is another convenient feature, providing designated eating areas at campsites. One reviewer noted the ease of payment, mentioning that if you arrive later, you can pay the next day, suggesting a relaxed and accommodating approach from the owner, who was described as "absolutely lovely." It's important to note that, being a natural environment, campers should be "prepared for mosquitoes and ticks," indicating that insect repellent and appropriate clothing are advisable. While a "pool is nice in the summer," according to one review, its seasonal availability should be considered.
The features of Pine Grove Campground seem to emphasize a quiet, nature-oriented experience. The "private and quiet tent sites" are a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The proximity to what feels like a wildlife refuge and the opportunity for bird watching are unique features for nature enthusiasts. The waterfront tent sites enhance the scenic beauty and tranquility. For families, the presence of a playground is a valuable feature. The availability of burn rings for campfires allows for the traditional camping experience of gathering around a fire. The off-season experience is particularly highlighted as "perfect," suggesting that visiting during less crowded times might offer an even more serene and intimate connection with nature. However, the recent concerns raised about dog management, specifically regarding uncleaned waste and off-leash behavior, are a point of consideration for potential visitors, especially those with children or those who prefer a dog-free environment at their campsite.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Chincoteague area who prioritize a quiet, natural setting, Pine Grove Campground offers several appealing features, particularly during the off-season. The private, waterfront tent sites under beautiful trees, coupled with the abundance of birdlife, create a potentially idyllic environment for nature lovers. The presence of a swimming pool for summer and a playground for children adds to its family-friendly appeal. The accommodating owner and the availability of essential amenities like bathhouses, showers, and picnic tables contribute to a comfortable stay. However, the recent negative feedback regarding dog management is a crucial point to consider. Local users who are not dog owners or who have concerns about safety and cleanliness due to dogs should inquire with the campground management about their current policies and how they are addressing these issues before making a reservation. If these concerns are effectively managed, Pine Grove Campground could indeed be the "perfect" quiet retreat described by one reviewer.
Regarding promotional information, one reviewer mentioned a rate of "$45/night plus tax for basic setup." Pine Grove Campground Reviews
Not sure what is happening. They used to be strict with dogs, but lately, a large dog has been using the middle of our campsite - 3 times in less than 2 months - and the owners have stopped cleaning up after their dogs. I see dog waste everywhere and it stinks horribly. There needs to be a section that is dogs only and not allow them near non-dog owner sites. We have a small child and this is just not safe. If it weren’t for that, it’s perfect. Quiet, under beautiful trees, and not a lot of cars going by which makes it safer for children. Pool is nice in the summer. I pray they handle the out of control dog owners.
Oct 26, 2024 · GwenOff season experience was perfect. Private and quiet tent site in what felt was a wildlife refuge. The tent sites face water. You can hear so many different species of birds morning to night. Burn rings available for campfires. If you arrive later just pay the next day. The owner was absolutely lovely. This is camping so be prepared for mosquitoes and ticks. There are bathhouses with showers and a play set for children. No shortage of picnic tables. $45/night plus tax for basic setup. Cannot wait to come back!
May 14, 2024 · LisaHave been coming here for years. The campground remains basically the same, however it seems to have more permanent 5th wheel campers in the front of the property, pull up campers in the middle and then plenty of open spots for tents and small campers in the back. They no longer take reservations so it’s a first come first served basis. There will never be an issue of needing spots bc there is plenty of room. It includes two bathhouses, places to wash dishes and a washer/dryer. The pool is nice and clean and is surrounded by caged specialized birds for enjoyment. It’s rarely used so it continues to be a nice option before/after or instead of the beach. It’s a 10 minute drive or 30 minute bike ride to the beach. There are plenty of super tall pine trees and Loblolly pines and crape Myrtle’s to pitch your tents between. The tent only area is nestled up along a large pond/swamp that is home to many birds, geese and a “wildish” family of alpacas. You can wake up to an alpaca starring you down. There are water and electric sites available and all are very affordable. Each come with a picnic table and fire ring. While the owners are still the same, they have new employees working the front desk & managing the grounds. All are very nice and helpful. The campsite & island do get sprayed for bug as the mosquitoes are the kings & queens of the campground. As soon as you exit your tent, camper or car- spray yourself!Still my favorite campground on the island. Always recommend.
Sep 02, 2024 · Elizabeth MetzQuiet park....sites are tight in general. We got a nice spacious site beside the pool. We stayed off season. Ponds and hobby farm to walk and explore. I enjoyed farm feeding times with lots of animals and birds. Internet at office area only. $70 per night. Friendly office staff and handy to walk or drive to main town.
Apr 08, 2024 · Tim WardOne of the best places ever. We got there late at night and what makes it so great is it the only place who says set up camp will deal with the money in the morning. Real down-to-earth old school people can't get any better.
