This campground provides a variety of options for outdoor enthusiasts, from traditional tent camping to RV sites with full hookups and cabin rentals. You can reach them at (814) 658-3986 or via mobile at +1 814-658-3986 to inquire about availability and make reservations for your next camping getaway.
Based on feedback from actual visitors, Pleasant Hills Campground presents a mixed but generally positive experience. One recent guest enthusiastically shared that their family thoroughly enjoyed their stay, highlighting the pleasantness of the staff, the cleanliness of the cabins and "extremely clean and spacious" bathrooms, and the relaxing pool. The presence of a "very nice" dog park was also a significant plus for those traveling with pets. The only regret expressed was not staying longer due to work obligations, indicating a desire to return for a more extended visit.
However, it's important to consider all aspects of the campground as reported by visitors. Another reviewer pointed out some areas that could be improved. The driveway leading to the campground was described as "very long and bumpy" with "WAY too many potholes," suggesting that visitors should be prepared for a somewhat challenging entry. Additionally, concerns were raised about the water quality, with the reviewer noting that it appeared "definitely yellow even with a filter" and had a "smell like rust." This guest strongly advised bringing bottled water, even for pets, echoing similar sentiments found in other reviews. While the campground representatives may offer assurances, it's prudent for potential visitors to take these firsthand accounts into consideration.
In terms of the camping sites themselves, the reviewer mentioned that most are gravel-based and offer good shade. While the shade is appreciated, the lack of grass was noted as a potential drawback, although the reviewer conceded that maintaining grass in heavily shaded areas can be difficult. The gravel surface is arguably preferable to muddy conditions, suggesting a practical approach to site maintenance. It was also mentioned that the sites are "somewhat tight," which is a common characteristic of many campgrounds, but this particular guest had experienced even more confined spaces elsewhere.
Despite these criticisms, Pleasant Hills Campground offers several appealing advantages. The pool was described as "nice" and the mini golf was a hit with children, providing on-site recreational activities for families. The staff was consistently mentioned as "polite," contributing to a positive overall atmosphere. The grounds were also noted for being "quiet," which is a significant benefit for those seeking a peaceful camping experience.
A key draw for many visitors, as highlighted in the reviews, is the convenient location of the full hookup sites near the marina and the lake. This proximity is particularly appealing to those planning to engage in water-based activities or who appreciate having easy access to these amenities. For individuals whose "main purpose for coming" was to be near the marina and lake, Pleasant Hills Campground appears to be a well-situated option.
Considering the various aspects, Pleasant Hills Campground is presented as a "decent campground" overall. It offers a range of facilities and a location that is particularly advantageous for those interested in lake activities. The positive feedback regarding staff, cleanliness of certain facilities, and recreational options like the pool and mini golf suggests a family-friendly environment. The dog park is an added bonus for pet owners looking for "camping near me" that welcomes their furry companions.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with the driveway and water quality and come prepared accordingly. While the gravel sites offer practicality, the tightness of the sites might be a consideration for those seeking more spacious setups. The availability of full hookups is a significant convenience for RV travelers, and the shade on the sites will be welcomed during warmer months.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that provides a mix of amenities and access to outdoor recreation, Pleasant Hills Campground in Hesston, PA, is worth considering. Weigh the positive aspects, such as the friendly staff, clean facilities (excluding water), pool, and proximity to the lake, against the reported drawbacks of the driveway and water quality. By being informed and prepared, you can make the most of your camping experience at Pleasant Hills Campground. Pleasant Hills Campground Reviews
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Pleasant Hills Campground. Staff were very pleasant. Cabin was clean. Bathrooms were extremely clean and spacious. Pool was relaxing. Dog park was very nice to play fetch w our pup. The only thing negative I have to say, is that we didn't stay longer (work obligations). We definitely will be going back and making a priority to stay longer!
Jul 14, 2024 · Staci DoeblerThere are pros and cons to this place as there are to almost anywhere you go. Negatives - the driveway is very long and bumpy and WAY too many potholes. Definitely needs fixed, water is definitely yellow even with a filter and smells like rust. Believe the other reviews regardless of what they say. Bring bottled water even for your pets. Most sites are all gravel but shady. Would be nice to have grass but I know that's hard with lots of shade. Better gravel than mud I guess. Sites are somewhat tight too but we've been in worse tho.Pros - pool was nice, kids liked the mini golf, staff was polite, grounds were quiet. Full hookup sites conveniently located near the marina and lake which was our main purpose for coming. Overall it's a decent campground.
Sep 06, 2023 · Linda SpinoMy husband came here as a child and had found memories. This is the second time our family has enjoyed a stay at Pleasant Hills Campground. We throughly enjoyed our time. Atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. Staff of friendly and helpful. They have a beautiful camp store with any item you could need made for sale. We enjoyed the came room and mini golf with our toddlers. Look forward to coming back next season!
Aug 23, 2023 · Danae KreiderWe had a wonderful stay in one of the cabins in the campground. The bathhouses were clean and the owners were responsive. It’s a short drive to the lake and we enjoyed searching for deer when we headed out the lane. We will be back!
Jul 03, 2024 · Karen LeiseyPotholes everywhere coming into the campground, water was yellow and smelled like heavy metal and gave my 5 year old a bacterial infection, dogs are not tied up properly at sites and one kept trying to attack me and my young child. This is really just a dog friendly RV park. No quarter machines for laundry which didn't spin my laundry right and after 2 hours my clothes still weren't dried by the dryers. Was told my destroyed laundry due to horrible water was not their responsibility. Accused of hostile behavior when all I did was politely complain about having to travel outside the campground to get quarters because their office was closed. Camp sites are small and not spaced out. Staff was never really around and didn't seem to care when they were. Bathrooms were so dark I slipped on water and now have an injury and it smelled like sewage in there. Do not camp here, horrible experience at UN pleasant hills. Not quiet past hours either. The only beautiful thing there was the pool and the playground as you're not even close to the lake.
