Postville Memorial Campground Introduce
For local users in Postville, Iowa, and the surrounding area searching for "camping near me," Postville Memorial Campground, located at 301 Mott St, Postville, IA 52162, USA, presents a local option with certain conveniences but also significant drawbacks based on recent customer reviews. While the campground offers proximity to local stores, feedback indicates substantial noise issues that potential campers should carefully consider before planning a stay. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the campground based on the available review, highlighting both its potential advantages and its notable disadvantages for those seeking a local camping experience.
The environment of Postville Memorial Campground is described by one reviewer as "not in a very scenic location." This suggests that the natural surroundings of the campground may not be its primary appeal. However, the reviewer does note its proximity to local stores, indicating a potential advantage for campers needing to access supplies or local amenities. This urban-adjacent setting might be convenient for short stays or for campers who prioritize access to town over a secluded natural environment. However, for those seeking a tranquil and picturesque camping experience, the lack of scenic beauty in the immediate surroundings might be a significant consideration.
In terms of services and features, the provided review does not offer specific details about the amenities available at Postville Memorial Campground. Typically, campgrounds offer a range of services such as campsites (which may vary in size and hookups), restroom facilities, and potentially water sources or dump stations. Given the limited information, local users would need to seek further details about the specific services offered at Postville Memorial Campground by contacting the local authorities in Postville or visiting the campground directly. The absence of positive comments regarding services in the review suggests that these might not be the standout features of this particular campground.
The most prominent feature highlighted in the review is the significant noise pollution. The reviewer expresses disappointment, wishing they could give the campground a higher rating but ultimately deeming it "not worth even two stars" primarily due to the lack of peace and quiet. A "huge siren" located next to the campground is reported to blare out at noon and 6 pm every day, serving as a signal for local farmers. This regular and loud noise is a major detractor for anyone seeking a peaceful camping experience. Additionally, the campground's proximity to train tracks is another significant concern. The reviewer notes that campers would need to constantly watch their children and pets due to the potential danger posed by passing trains. The noise from the trains is also likely to contribute to the overall lack of tranquility at the campground.
No promotional information is available for Postville Memorial Campground in the provided review. It is unknown whether the campground offers any special rates, discounts for local residents, or packages for longer stays. Given the negative feedback regarding noise, any potential promotional offers might need to be weighed against the significant disturbance reported by a recent visitor. Local users would need to inquire directly with the campground or the Postville authorities for any information regarding pricing and promotions.
The strong emphasis on the negative aspects of noise in the review paints a clear picture for potential local users. The daily siren at noon and 6 pm, coupled with the proximity to train tracks requiring constant vigilance over children and pets, are serious drawbacks for those seeking a relaxing and safe camping environment. While the convenience of being close to local stores might be a minor advantage for some, the fundamental issue of noise pollution appears to outweigh this benefit for the reviewer. This suggests that Postville Memorial Campground might be more suitable for very short overnight stays where access to local amenities is paramount and noise sensitivity is low, rather than for extended camping trips where peace and quiet are typically desired.
For local users specifically searching for "camping near me" in Postville, it is crucial to consider the trade-offs highlighted in the review. While Postville Memorial Campground is a local option by virtue of its location, the significant noise issues reported could severely impact the camping experience. Individuals and families seeking a tranquil retreat in nature might find this location unsuitable. However, for those who prioritize proximity to local services or are less sensitive to noise, it might still serve a purpose as a basic overnight stop. It is strongly recommended that potential campers visit the site beforehand, if possible, to personally assess the noise levels at different times of the day and to inquire about any measures that might be in place to mitigate these disturbances.
In conclusion, Postville Memorial Campground in Postville, Iowa, offers a local camping option with the advantage of being close to local stores. However, a recent customer review strongly cautions against staying there due to significant noise from a daily siren and nearby train tracks, which severely detracts from the peace and quiet typically expected during a camping trip. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these factors and weigh the convenience of the location against the reported noise disturbances before making a decision. Further investigation into the campground's amenities and any potential noise mitigation efforts is advisable.

Postville Memorial Campground Reviews
Sigh. I wish I could give this campground 5 stars, but it’s really not worth even two. It’s not in a very scenic location, although it’s close to local stores. The real problem is that nobody will find peace and quiet here. It’s next to a huge siren that isn’t just for tornadoes - it blares out at noon and 6 pm everyday, so farmers will know when to go home and eat.If this isn’t bad enough, it’s next to the train tracks. You’d have to watch your little ones and pets every time the train comes through.
