Rocky Point Campground Introduce
For local residents exploring "camping near me" in the Rocky Point, North Carolina area, Rocky Point Campground, located at 14565 Ashton Rd, Rocky Point, NC 28457, USA, presents itself as an option. This campground offers full hookups for RVs and appears to cater to both short-term and potentially long-term stays, given the mention of numerous permanent sites. While opinions from online reviews vary, it’s important for local users to consider the different perspectives when evaluating this campground for their needs.
The environment of Rocky Point Campground seems to have both positive and negative aspects based on the available reviews. One reviewer described the park as "beautiful" and highlighted the presence of a pond with ducks and geese, suggesting a potentially scenic natural element within the campground. This could be appealing to those who enjoy observing wildlife and a tranquil water feature. However, another reviewer found the campground to be "not much to look at," indicating that the aesthetic appeal might be subjective or vary depending on the specific area of the campground. The presence of numerous permanent sites could contribute to a more established, less transient atmosphere, but might also impact the availability and nature of the transient sites. The negative review also mentioned garbage on and around their site, suggesting potential issues with site maintenance in certain areas. Additionally, the persistent noise from several roosters throughout the day was noted as a significant drawback by one visitor, which could impact the peacefulness of the environment for some campers. Local users sensitive to noise should take this into consideration.
In terms of services, Rocky Point Campground offers full hookups at its daily rate sites, which typically include electricity, water, and sewer connections, a significant convenience for RV travelers. The campground also provides essential facilities such as a bathhouse with separate men's and women's sections and a laundry room, which are valuable amenities for both short-term and long-term stays. One positive review specifically mentioned these facilities as being available. However, a notable lack of services includes the absence of internet access (no Wi-Fi was available at the campground, according to one review). Additionally, the same reviewer reported issues with the cable TV connection not working. Cell phone service appears to be limited in the area, with one user reporting only one bar of 4G LTE service on a 5G phone, which could be a concern for those needing to stay connected. While not a service in the traditional sense, the friendly demeanor of at least one staff member (Connie) was noted in a negative review, suggesting that customer service interactions can be positive, although there was a subsequent issue with site assignment. Conversely, a positive review praised the management for their helpfulness, including going above and beyond by watching pets and a camper while the guest was away, indicating potentially exceptional service in some instances.
The features of Rocky Point Campground are somewhat mixed based on the provided reviews. A key feature is the availability of full hookups for RV sites, catering to the needs of RV travelers. The presence of a bathhouse and laundry room adds to the convenience for guests, especially those on longer trips. The beautiful pond with ducks and geese offers a natural and potentially relaxing focal point within the campground. For those working in nearby Wilmington (approximately 25 minutes away) or looking to visit the beaches (around 45 minutes away), the location could be considered a feature, providing relatively easy access to these areas. However, the high number of permanent sites might be seen as a feature or a drawback depending on the preference of the visitor. For those seeking a more transient, resort-style campground, the prevalence of permanent residents might alter the atmosphere. The lack of internet and unreliable cell service could be a significant drawback for those who rely on connectivity. The presence of noisy roosters throughout the day is a unique, albeit negative, feature mentioned by one reviewer. The generally affordable value, as mentioned in the positive review, could be a feature for budget-conscious travelers, although this should be weighed against the reported maintenance and connectivity issues.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Rocky Point Campground in the provided text. Local users interested in staying at this campground should contact them directly at (910) 259-9611 or +1 910-259-9611 to inquire about their current rates, availability, and any potential discounts for local residents or longer stays. Given the mixed reviews, it would be prudent to ask specific questions about site maintenance, internet availability, cell phone reception in the area, and the presence of noise issues like the roosters mentioned in one review. Potential local promotions might be offered during off-peak seasons or for extended stays, especially given the apparent number of permanent residents. Inquiring about weekly or monthly rates might also be beneficial for those needing longer-term accommodation due to work or other circumstances. It is always recommended to directly communicate with the campground to get the most accurate and up-to-date information and to address any specific concerns based on the varying experiences reported in the reviews.
In conclusion, Rocky Point Campground offers a local "camping near me" option with full hookups and amenities such as a bathhouse and laundry room. The presence of a pond is a potential environmental benefit, and its location offers reasonable access to Wilmington and nearby beaches. However, potential drawbacks highlighted in customer reviews include the aesthetic appeal, site maintenance issues, lack of internet and unreliable cell service, and noise from roosters. While one reviewer found it to be a great value with helpful management, another strongly recommended against it. Local users should carefully consider these differing perspectives and directly contact Rocky Point Campground to gather current information and determine if it meets their specific needs and expectations for a camping experience.

Rocky Point Campground Reviews
Rocky Point is not much to look at. Most sites are permanent sites. The daily rate offers you full hookups but not much else. The site we were on had garbage on and around it. The site was not maintained. We couldn't get the cable TV connection to work. No internet at campground. Our phones only had one bar of service and stayed on 4G LTE service (we have 5G phones). We do not recommend this campground. When we pulled in, I could hear animals screeching. Turns out it was several roosters that cock-a-doodle-do'd ALL. DAY. LONG...non-stop.Connie was friendly; however, she told us to go to one site number and then questioned why we went to that site and not a different site number.
Nov 28, 2024 · Sonya BeelerTraveled here due to a job in Wilmington. The park is beautiful, great value, has a bath house (men’s and women’s are separated), laundry room, and a beautiful pond with plenty of ducks (and geese lol). Around 45 minutes to several of the beaches, and around 25 minutes to Wilmington! I have come to know management and they have been so good to me during my stay. Any issues they are on top of it, plus they watched my pets and camper while I was gone.💕 I am sad to leave and move on as I really enjoyed their company. Absolutely would park here again, and again!
Aug 09, 2024 · Emily CavinNot convenient nor conventional but cozy and quaint. Relatively decent priced and laid back neighborhood. Lots of kids around and plenty of space to roam for them.
Oct 27, 2024 · Marie ViNice people can't beat the price will stay there again as we travel
