Virginia Creek Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Hampstead, North Carolina area? Virginia Creek Campground, located at 440 Crooked Creek Trail, Hampstead, NC 28443, USA, presents itself as an option. You can reach them by phone at (910) 329-4648 or their mobile number, +1 910-329-4648. Based on the limited reviews available, there appear to be contrasting experiences at this campground that local users should consider.
One reviewer described Virginia Creek Campground as a place where you can "put your name on a list to come and live or leave your camper for summer vacation or to live in your camper." This suggests that the campground caters to both short-term summer stays and potentially longer-term or even permanent residents. The reviewer also noted that the staff members are "very friendly" and highlighted two specific amenities: "no grass cutting" required by campers (they do it themselves) and "no water paying" (implying water is included). This positive feedback suggests a community-oriented environment with some convenient services.
However, another review paints a starkly different picture. This former long-term resident strongly advises others not to stay at Virginia Creek Campground, describing the owner as "greedy and cruel." The reviewer recounted a personal experience following the sudden passing of her husband, with whom she had a permanent site and had paid for an annual lease with three months completed. She stated that upon needing to sell their camper due to overwhelming memories, the owner, Mrs. King, allegedly refused any refund for the remaining nine months of the lease, reportedly stating "life happened, deal with it." The reviewer further claimed that the owner then charged the new owners of her camper for an entire year's lease, characterizing this as "double dipping" and expressing feeling treated with extreme insensitivity.
Considering these contrasting accounts, the environment of Virginia Creek Campground is somewhat ambiguous. On one hand, there's a sense of community and friendly staff, as mentioned by one reviewer, possibly fostering a welcoming atmosphere for those who stay for longer periods or return seasonally. The fact that the campground handles grass cutting and includes water in the site fees could contribute to a more relaxed experience for campers. On the other hand, the serious allegations of greed and insensitivity from another former resident raise concerns about the management's policies and treatment of individuals, particularly in difficult circumstances.
In terms of services and features, we can infer that Virginia Creek Campground offers permanent sites, summer vacation spots, and the option to live in your camper. The included services mentioned are grass cutting by the campground and water being included in the fees. The presence of friendly staff is also noted as a positive service aspect. However, the negative review highlights a potentially rigid and unsympathetic approach to lease agreements and refunds.
For local users looking for "camping near me," Virginia Creek Campground in Hampstead, NC, appears to offer options for both short and potentially long-term stays. The positive review suggests a friendly environment with some convenient amenities. However, the very serious negative review regarding the owner's alleged actions and policies cannot be ignored and should give potential campers pause.
There is no explicit promotional information provided in the reviews. However, the first review implicitly promotes the campground as a friendly place suitable for summer vacations or longer-term living in a camper, with the added benefits of no personal grass cutting and included water. Conversely, the second review serves as a strong warning against staying there.
Given the conflicting feedback, local users considering Virginia Creek Campground should weigh these perspectives carefully. If you are looking for a place for a summer stay or potentially a longer-term arrangement and value friendly staff and the convenience of included water and no personal grass cutting, this campground might seem appealing based on one review. However, the allegations of insensitive and financially exploitative behavior from another former resident are serious and warrant careful consideration.
To make an informed decision, it would be prudent for potential campers to seek additional information, perhaps by contacting the campground directly with specific questions about their policies, especially regarding long-term stays and lease agreements. Reading other reviews, if available, could also provide a more balanced understanding of the typical experience at Virginia Creek Campground.
In conclusion, Virginia Creek Campground in Hampstead, NC, presents a mixed picture for those seeking "camping near me." While one review praises the friendly staff and certain conveniences for summer or longer-term stays, another recounts a deeply negative experience with the owner's handling of a difficult personal situation and financial matters. Local users should consider both these viewpoints and seek further information before deciding if Virginia Creek Campground is the right choice for their camping needs.

Apr 12, 2025 · patricia fulghumDo not stay here, the owner is greedy and cruel. My husband and I had a permanent site and he passed away suddenly. We were only three months into our annual lease, which was paid in full. I explained to Mrs. King that the memories were too overwhelming and I needed to sell our camper. Mrs King informed me there would be no refund of the nine months left on my lease and basically that life happened, deal with it. She was cruel and hard hearted. So she kept my money and charged the new owners of my camper the entire year’s lease. Double dipping. I have never been treat so insensitive in my life.
Jul 10, 2022 · Janet HammNice campground, small coin laundry room, clean bath house, very nice pier for fishing and a kayak launch. Lots of trees back in the woods NO highway or street noise. Friendly neighbors, pet friendly! ! Church services on Sunday morning.
Dec 07, 2017 · Tammy MooneyThis is not a campground but more like a mobile home park. We ended up there because Lanier's was full and it looked very nice at first and the price with water and electricity was really good. A neighbor let their dog loose at 3 in the morning then complained on us when our dog barked at it. We left our crab pot out over night and came back in the morning and caught a resident red handed at stealing the crab and a flounder from rhe pot. Rude manager, Sherrie, kept staring at us from the office and looked down on us for having more than one child. Not a kid friendly place! If you want to go somewhere where any noise is unacceptable and it is more like a retirement community with camper trailers, go here. If you want family friendly fun.... stay away!
