This means campers have unparalleled access to the park's diverse natural environment, characterized by dramatic cliffs, stunning views of the Puget Sound, saltwater beaches, freshwater lakes, and old-growth forests. The campground itself provides a basecamp from which to explore the iconic Deception Pass Bridge, hike numerous trails offering varying levels of difficulty, discover hidden coves, and enjoy the rich biodiversity of the area. The proximity to such natural wonders is a significant draw for those seeking an immersive outdoor experience.
Accommodation Options: Spotless Cabins and Spacious Campsites
Quarry Pond Campground offers a range of accommodation options to suit different preferences. One reviewer enthusiastically praised the cabins, describing them as "spotless, warm, and spacious." This suggests that the cabin rentals provide a comfortable and clean alternative to traditional tent camping, ideal for families or those seeking a bit more shelter and convenience. The positive feedback on the cabins highlights them as a desirable lodging choice within the campground. In addition to cabins, the campground also features traditional campsites. One review noted that the "camp sites" were "nice" and that the campground, during their visit, was "less than half full," contributing to a relaxing atmosphere. This suggests that even those opting for tent or RV camping can expect well-maintained and potentially spacious sites.
Access to Extensive Trail Systems
A significant advantage of staying at Quarry Pond Campground is its direct access to the extensive network of trails within Deception Pass State Park. One reviewer specifically mentioned "access to trails that connect to everything you want to see." This is a major draw for hikers and nature enthusiasts, as it allows for seamless exploration of the park's diverse landscapes, from scenic overlooks to forested paths and shoreline trails. Whether you're looking for a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike, the trails accessible from the campground offer something for every fitness level and interest.
Dog-Friendly Considerations
For those who travel with canine companions, Quarry Pond Campground is described as "dog friendly" in one review. This is a significant positive for pet owners looking for 'camping near me' where their furry friends are welcome. However, another reviewer noted a limitation regarding the availability of dog-friendly cabins, stating, "Only wish there was more than one dog-cabin. We had to leave our buddy at home." This indicates that while the campground generally welcomes dogs, the number of cabins that accommodate pets may be limited. Therefore, it is crucial for dog owners specifically seeking cabin rentals to inquire about the availability of pet-friendly options well in advance of their intended stay.
Essential Campsite Amenities
The campground provides essential amenities to enhance the camping experience. One reviewer mentioned that "every campsite had a fire pit," which is a standard and highly appreciated feature for campfires, cooking, and creating a cozy outdoor ambiance. Additionally, it was noted that "they also have power and water hookups at all the campsites." This is a significant convenience, particularly for RV campers who rely on these hookups. The availability of power and water at each site adds a level of comfort and functionality that is often sought after.
Clean and Centrally Located Bathrooms
Cleanliness and accessibility of restrooms are important factors for any campground. Quarry Pond Campground appears to address this, as one reviewer stated that the "bathrooms are clean and set in the middle of the site." This central location likely provides convenient access for campers throughout the campground, and the positive comment about cleanliness contributes to a more pleasant overall experience.
Potential Drawback: Highway Traffic Noise
While Quarry Pond Campground offers numerous benefits, it's important to consider potential drawbacks mentioned by guests. One reviewer noted a significant issue with noise, stating, "Only thing I personally didn't like was it was pretty loud all night because of highway traffic." This suggests that the campground's proximity to a highway may result in noticeable noise levels, which could be a concern for light sleepers or those particularly sensitive to noise. Potential guests should be aware of this and might consider bringing earplugs or choosing campsites further away from the highway if possible (though specific campsite details and noise levels are not provided).

Quarry Pond Campground, Deception Pass State Park Reviews
Loved staying at the cabins at this campground, which were spotless, warm, and spacious. The rest of the campground was less than half full so it felt relaxing. Access to trails that connect to everything you want to see. Only wish there was more than one dog-cabin. We had to leave our buddy at home
Jan 09, 2025 · David BNice campgrounds . Dog friendly. It's great for families.Only thing I personally didn't like was it was pretty loud all night because of highway traffic. Every campsite had a fire pit. They also have power and water hookups at all the campsites. Bathrooms are clean and set in the middle of the site.
Oct 15, 2024 · Catie JudayThe campground is as expected, but a couple of things to note- check in is across the road (signage says “at the welcome booth”, but no note of where that is ha ha). There isn’t a lot at this campground, it’s across the road from the main attractions- it’s pretty quiet and not as big treed as I expected (note: nowhere to hang hammock and many blackberries). The cabins look cute; they were put on old campsites, so not huge or any views. Trails between sites, but lots of blackberry and shrubbery if you like privacy. A little hilly for kid biking if you have little littles, but the first row is long and flat. The bathrooms are the piece de resistance in that they are the cleanest and best campground showers I’ve been to. Free, hot and great pressure. Would be nice if there were doors, as the curtains blow a bit, but great!
Aug 27, 2024 · Km CWay too close to Hwy 20, the sound of cars is a real bummer. My particular favorite was waking up at 3 in the morning to the bass of a thumping car stereo at the gas station.
Jan 30, 2025 · Paul NortnessThis campground is part of Deception Pass State Park and is the smaller of the two, the other being Cranberry lake. The pond and the Lake are freshwater and given the proximity to the Strait of Juan DeFuca is quite extraordinary itself. The bodies of water are separated by a sand dune and few hundred yards of rock. Deception Pass itself is half mile from the campground and it’s worth the walk because the Parking at the bridge is always jammed. The pass is a narrow channel of fast moving sea water going one direction or the other with terrific sunsets and often times Orcas on the hunt. It’s super dangerous except at slack so don’t attempt to board or Kayak there. When it’s flowing, you get huge currents and whirlpools of icy water! The campground itself on the pond side is nice enough and typical State Park. It has electric and water and I had a good sized spot. It’s close to the Naval Station and you will get Military jets taking off and landing along with prop planes.Regardless you will never have a better Western exposure over the water than here. The sunsets are just spectacular.Im Winter the Pond is the only place open and you need to fill with water before you park.We had a good time as it was a Sunny Feb weekend, the first one in months …
