Riverbend Campground Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" in the Saranac, Michigan area, Riverbend Campground, located at 8293 Bluewater Hwy, Saranac, MI 48881, presents a property that is currently in a developing stage and offers a rustic camping experience. Based on the limited reviews available, it appears that the campground has both positive aspects, such as friendly hosts and a potentially promising future, as well as significant concerns regarding interactions with the owner and some long-term campers.
One reviewer who visited early in the season described the property as "excellent" with "friendly hosts." They noted its current rustic nature, mentioning the use of porta-johns, which were "fresh" at the time of their visit. This suggests that while the campground may be in the process of building out its permanent facilities, the initial experience can be positive, particularly regarding the hospitality of the hosts. The reviewer also expressed optimism about the campground's potential, stating, "...as they build out the property I can definitely see it becoming a great little campground!" This indicates that local users might find a developing natural setting with the promise of future improvements when considering "campgrounds near me."
However, another review paints a significantly different picture, highlighting serious concerns about the behavior of the regular campers and the owner. This reviewer initially found the campground to be "nice at first" but experienced a negative shift in interactions over time. They reported that the regular campers and the owner became "very rude and two faced." This raises a red flag for potential local users seeking a welcoming and harmonious "camping near me" environment.
The specific incident described in the negative review is particularly troubling. The reviewer recounts being accused of theft by a long-term camper simply for being in the water near a boat launch, which was located close to the camper's site. The most concerning aspect of this incident is the alleged reaction of the owner, who "automatically believed him and didn't even bother to ask me for the truth before she kicked everyone out from our site." This suggests a lack of due process and a potential bias towards long-term residents over short-term visitors. Such behavior could lead to a stressful and unpleasant experience for those choosing Riverbend Campground for their "camping near me" needs.
Furthermore, the negative review details a heavy-handed approach to the eviction, stating that the owner gave them "hours to leave and kept pestering us with threats about calling the cops while we were trying to pack." This level of confrontation and lack of understanding is a serious concern for any potential camper looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The reviewer concludes with a strong recommendation against staying there for more than a night or two, suggesting that longer stays might increase the likelihood of encountering similar negative interactions and that "those people seem to enjoy starting drama."
Given these contrasting reviews, it is challenging to provide a definitive description of the environment, services, and features of Riverbend Campground. The first review suggests a rustic setting that is being developed, potentially located in a scenic area that appeals to those seeking a more natural "camping near me" experience. The mention of being "early in the season" might imply a location near a river or lake, given the name "Riverbend Campground," which could offer opportunities for water-based activities. However, the second review provides no specific details about the natural environment.
Regarding services, the first review only mentions the use of porta-johns, indicating that permanent restroom facilities might not have been fully operational at the time of their visit. The friendly nature of the hosts is noted, suggesting a personal touch in the management. The second review does not comment on services, focusing instead on the negative interpersonal interactions.
Features of Riverbend Campground are also unclear due to the limited and conflicting information. The name implies proximity to a river, which could be a significant feature for those interested in fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying a riverside setting when looking for "camping near me." The ongoing development of the property, as mentioned in the first review, suggests that future features might include more permanent amenities and potentially recreational facilities. However, these are speculative based on a single positive early-season review.
Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about rates, availability, or any special offers at Riverbend Campground would need to contact them directly at the provided phone numbers: (616) 406-6250 or +1 616-406-6250. Given the stark contrast in the recent experiences of campers, it would be prudent for potential visitors to inquire about the current state of the facilities, the typical demographics of campers (seasonal vs. short-term), and the campground's policies regarding guest interactions and conflict resolution.
In conclusion, Riverbend Campground in Saranac, Michigan, appears to be a developing property that currently offers a rustic camping experience with reportedly friendly hosts, at least early in the season. However, recent feedback also raises serious concerns about potential negative interactions with the owner and long-term campers, including allegations of unfair treatment and a confrontational atmosphere. Local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of these mixed reviews and exercise caution. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly to gain a clearer understanding of the current environment, services, and policies before making a reservation. The potential for a "great little campground" as mentioned in one review might be there, but prospective campers should weigh this against the serious negative experiences reported by another recent guest.

Riverbend Campground Reviews
Excellent property with friendly hosts! Quite rustic currently (though we went early in the season and the porta John's were fresh!) but as they build out the property I can definitely see it becoming a great little campground!
Jun 01, 2022 · James TorreyIt seemed nice at first but the regular campers and the owner slowly turned very rude and two faced. While I stayed there one of the campers accused me of being on his boat and stealing from his site simply because I was in the water near the boat launch, which was right by his site at the time. The owner automatically believed him and didn't even bother to ask me for the truth before she kicked everyone out from our site. They gave us hours to leave and kept pestering us with threats about calling the cops while we were trying to pack. I definitely do not recommend staying there more than a night or two. Those people seem to enjoy starting drama.
Aug 11, 2017 · Emily PeckThis is the greatest campground! You’re surrounded by beautiful scenery; the river, cranes, deer, flowers, mushrooms; it’s a perfect little getaway. The owners are friendly, professional, and always go above and beyond.I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking to unwind, relax, and get a little fishing and/or kayaking in.
Jul 06, 2021 · Megan seelyeThe bad reviewer below had people staying there that hadn't paid to be there, and was also living out of the campground. A menace to the other peaceful campers with trash, fighting, foul language, yelling.
Nov 04, 2017 · Chelsea HillBeautiful scenery, quiet mornings, great fishing, this camp ground is the perfect place for families.
