For local residents in and around Cedar Bluff, Alabama, seeking a relaxing "camping near me" experience by the water, Riverside Campground & Motel, located at 1210 County Rd 131, Cedar Bluff, AL 35959, USA, offers a picturesque setting on the lake. While recent feedback highlights the beauty of the location and the enjoyment of lakeside relaxation, it also touches upon the status of the on-site restaurant, which holds fond memories for past visitors. You can contact them at (256) 779-2683 or +1 256-779-2683 for inquiries about accommodations and the current status of amenities.
One reviewer expressed the sentiment of many, stating, "Always nice to chill by the lake with good friends at Riverside." This immediately emphasizes the beautiful environment and the appeal of the campground as a place to unwind and socialize in a natural setting. The lakeside location is clearly a significant draw, offering opportunities for relaxation, scenic views, and potentially water-based activities, although the availability of specific activities isn't detailed in the provided reviews.
However, this same reviewer also noted, "Wish the restaurant was opened. Its for sale but everybody misses it." This indicates that the on-site restaurant, which was clearly a valued amenity in the past, is currently closed and for sale. This is an important piece of information for potential guests who might have been looking forward to dining at the campground. The fact that "everybody misses it" suggests that the restaurant was a popular and well-regarded feature of Riverside Campground & Motel.
Fortunately, another review provides a detailed and enthusiastic account of a past dining experience at the now-closed restaurant. This reviewer stated, "I ate at the restaurant, I had the meatloaf special with turnip greens and fried okra. There were lots to choose from." This suggests that the restaurant previously offered a diverse menu with home-style cooking and daily specials. The positive feedback on the quality of the food ("Everyone was happy with their food") and the service ("the service was excellent") further underscores the value that the restaurant once brought to the campground.
The restaurant at Riverside Campground & Motel was apparently particularly "known for their cakes." The reviewer raved about the carrot cake, describing it as "freshly baked and still warm with fresh cream cheese icing." The cake was so impressive that the reviewer exclaimed, "The cake was to die for. Over all, I might start with the cake and then decide how much else I wanted to eat. My experience here was excellent." This detailed praise highlights a signature offering that many visitors likely enjoyed and now miss. The warm, freshly baked cakes with homemade icing suggest a level of care and quality in the restaurant's offerings.
Considering the current status of the restaurant being for sale, local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware that this amenity is not currently available. However, the positive memories of the restaurant highlight the potential for future offerings if new owners decide to reopen it. In the meantime, campers will need to plan for their meals accordingly, either by bringing their own cooking equipment and supplies or by exploring dining options in the surrounding Cedar Bluff area.
The name "Riverside Campground & Motel" itself suggests that the location offers more than just campsites. The inclusion of "Motel" indicates that there are also lodging units available for those who prefer not to camp in tents or RVs. This provides an alternative for visitors who want to enjoy the lakeside setting and the overall atmosphere of Riverside but prefer the comfort and convenience of a motel room. Local users searching for a quick getaway or those accompanying campers might find the motel option appealing.
Based on the available reviews, the environment of Riverside Campground & Motel is primarily characterized by its beautiful lakeside location, offering a relaxing and scenic backdrop for a getaway. The grounds are evidently conducive to enjoying the outdoors and spending time by the water. While specific details about the types of campsites (e.g., RV hookups, tent areas) are not provided, the mention of chilling by the lake suggests that the focus is on enjoying the natural surroundings.
Regarding services and features, the most prominent past feature was the well-regarded restaurant, which is currently closed and for sale. The availability of a motel is another key feature, providing an alternative to camping. Other potential services typically found at campgrounds and motels, such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, or Wi-Fi, are not mentioned in the reviews. Local users should inquire directly about these amenities when contacting Riverside Campground & Motel.
There is no specific promotional information in the provided text. Local users interested in camping or staying at the motel should contact the provided phone numbers to inquire about rates, availability, and any current specials or packages. Given the closure of the restaurant, it might be worth asking if there are any partnerships with local eateries or recommendations for dining in the area.
In summary, Riverside Campground & Motel near Cedar Bluff, Alabama, offers a beautiful lakeside setting for those seeking a relaxing getaway. Key aspects to consider include:
- A picturesque location directly on the lake, ideal for relaxation and enjoying the waterfront.
- Past visitors have fond memories of the now-closed on-site restaurant, particularly its delicious home-style food and signature cakes.
- The availability of a motel in addition to campsites, providing alternative lodging options.

- The need for potential guests to inquire about the availability of typical campground and motel amenities, as these are not detailed in the reviews.

Sep 10, 2020 · Night OwlI ate at the restaurant, I had the meatloaf special with turnip greens and fried okra. There were lots to choose from. One of the people with me had the chicken salad on a croissant. Everyone was happy with their food and the service was excellent. They are known for their cakes. I tried the carrot cake- it was freshly baked and still warm with fresh cream cheese icing. The cake was to die for.
