Rolling Oaks Campground Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" options in the Sheridan, Illinois area, Rolling Oaks Campground, located at 2743 N 4251st Rd, Sheridan, IL 60551, USA, can be contacted at (815) 496-2334 or +1 815-496-2334. However, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware that recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the campground's condition, services, and the accuracy of its advertised amenities. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on this feedback to help local campers make informed decisions.
Based on the available reviews, the environment of Rolling Oaks Campground is not positively highlighted. One reviewer mentioned that the pictures on the website made it look like a good campground, implying that the reality upon arrival was different. There is a mention of pavilions at the campsites, some of which appear to be in disrepair, described as looking "about to fall over and collapse," suggesting a state of disrepair and potential safety concerns regarding the infrastructure. The lack of natural beauty or specific environmental features is noticeable in the reviews, with the focus instead being on the disappointing state of the facilities and the discrepancy between expectations set by online visuals and the actual conditions encountered. While the presence of mature trees or a generally wooded area might be inferred from the name "Rolling Oaks," the reviews do not emphasize these aspects as positive environmental attributes. Instead, the emphasis is on the outdated and poorly maintained nature of the campground.
The services at Rolling Oaks Campground, according to recent reviews, appear to be significantly lacking and potentially misrepresented. A major issue reported is the difficulty in checking in upon arrival, with no staff present at the store and unanswered calls to the provided phone numbers. This lack of initial support and communication is a significant service failure. Furthermore, the condition of the bathrooms and showers is described as "disgusting" and "stunk," indicating poor hygiene and maintenance of these essential facilities. Adding to the dissatisfaction, the showers are reported to be pay-per-use, a fact that was allegedly not disclosed to at least one customer prior to their arrival. This unexpected additional cost further detracts from the overall experience. The lack of advertised swimming activities (no pool and an inaccessible lake) is another significant service failure, especially for those who chose the campground based on this promised amenity. The overall impression from the reviews is one of inadequate and poorly managed services that do not align with the expectations of paying customers.
The features of Rolling Oaks Campground, as described by recent visitors, are largely negative. The outdated nature of the campground is a recurring theme, suggesting that the facilities are old and not well-maintained. The pavilions at the campsites, which could potentially be a desirable feature offering shade and shelter, are reported to be in a state of near collapse, rendering them unusable and potentially hazardous. The absence of a usable swimming facility (neither a pool nor an accessible lake) negates a key recreational feature that was apparently advertised. The unclean and pay-per-use showers, along with the gross bathrooms, are significant negative features that severely impact the comfort and hygiene of campers. The difficulty in contacting staff upon arrival and the unhelpful demeanor of the security guard (who could not assist with check-in) further detract from any positive features the campground might otherwise possess. The only potentially positive aspect that could be inferred, but is not explicitly praised, might be the individual campsites themselves, but even this is overshadowed by the poor state of the communal facilities and the lack of advertised amenities. Overall, the features highlighted in the reviews are overwhelmingly negative, pointing to a campground in serious need of renovation and improved management.
Regarding promotional information, the recent customer reviews effectively serve as a stark warning against relying solely on any potentially outdated or misleading advertisements for Rolling Oaks Campground. The reviewers express strong dissatisfaction, with one stating it was the "worst campground I have ever been to!" and explicitly recommending not to come there. The discrepancy between advertised swimming activities and the reality of no pool and an inaccessible lake is a significant point of contention. The poor condition of the bathrooms and showers, the pay-per-use showers (without prior disclosure), and the dilapidated state of the pavilions are all factors that would deter potential visitors. The difficulty in checking in and the unhelpful staff encountered further contribute to a negative impression. Therefore, based on this recent feedback, there is no positive promotional aspect to highlight. Instead, the overwhelming message from these reviews is one of disappointment and a strong recommendation to avoid Rolling Oaks Campground in its current state. Local users seeking "camping near me" should be extremely cautious and consider these recent experiences before making a booking.
In conclusion, Rolling Oaks Campground in Sheridan, IL, based on recent customer reviews, appears to be a campground with significant issues that local users seeking "camping near me" should be aware of. The environment is not praised, with concerns raised about outdated and potentially unsafe infrastructure like the pavilions. Services are reported to be poor, including difficulties with check-in, unclean and pay-per-use showers, and misrepresented amenities like swimming facilities. The features highlighted by reviewers are overwhelmingly negative, focusing on the dilapidated state of the campground and the lack of advertised attractions. The strong negative feedback serves as a cautionary note for any potential visitors. Local campers are strongly advised to seek alternative campgrounds in the area based on the serious concerns raised in these recent reviews of Rolling Oaks Campground.

Rolling Oaks Campground Reviews
We got this campground because we came from mi for a competition and the pictures on the website looked like it was a good campground. Welll we were wrong we got there on the day of check in and we went up to the store to check in and register. There was no one there it told us if we needed help to call the numbers we did a bunch of times no one answered. We called and left voicemails, we were told by a camper to go ask the security guard and we went and asked and he was no help. He said you have to call the numbers on the sign. He was completely rude and not helpful at all. We finally got to our camp site. The bathrooms and showers were disgusting and stunk. The showers you have to pay for!!! We also asked the lady before we got there and she never told us we had to pay for them. A bunch of the pavilions for the camp sites look like they were about to fall over and collapse everything is so outdated. This was the worst camp ground I have ever been to! Do not recommend at all
Jun 27, 2024 · Tasha McLaughlinThey had advertised swimming activities but when we got there, no pool and the lake wasn't swim accessible. There was nothing to do! I've been to so many better spots I recommend not coming here. I'm sorry for the negative review, but when you spend the kinda money it costs to come to a place like this, it really is a crime. Also, bathrooms were gross.
Apr 25, 2023 · Spencer HastingsHad a great time, but this place needs help! The bathrooms are always clogged and without tp or soap. People will absolutely let their kids that are younger than 6, run rampant on the playground with no supervision. I can't tell you how many times unsupervised children pushed my children or walked up to me to find their parents. Also an added bonus... we all have our political sides, but enough trump and confederate flags here please. Truly this campground doesn't feel very inclusive.
May 31, 2022 · TJ TrevisoFirst of all when checking in nobody was there to check us in. We had to speak to the maintenance person for someone to tell us where to park. We had a 50 amp site and after the first day it would not work for us, it registered e-2 which is open ground. We connected our 30 amp chord and all was good on our side. I spoke to the staff and they brought someone out to look at it but said it had to be our problem all is good on there end. I asked to change campsites so that I could verify this info and they said no someone was scheduled to check into that site today. I just wanted to know if I needed to be concerned or not with my chord. That was on a Friday and we checked out on Sunday. Nobody ever checked into the site. As we were leaving I pulled my RV over to the other site and plugged it in and what do you know all was good. We could have stayed at that site for the three days. I spoke to the maintenance person when leaving to let them know that their electrical box has issues. He seemed not to care: we are now at our new site hooked up to a 50 amp and no issues. We would not stay there again.
Jul 25, 2021 · Wildblood’s AdventuresMany activities, from farmers market, bingo, dances, kid activities, outdoor movies. Owners are very nice and kind. There right on the fox river perfect for tubing. The store has hot food, soft serve ice cream and even funnel cake. Definitely a fun place and family orientated
