Ross Resorts Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that prioritizes a relaxed and well-maintained environment, Ross Resorts, located at 11 Birch Dr in Melbourne, Kentucky (41059, USA), presents an appealing option. Reviews from seasoned travelers highlight the campground's attractive setting and welcoming atmosphere. One reviewer even refers to it as their "happy place," praising Roger for doing a "fantastic job at keeping the camp looking great." This suggests a commitment to maintaining an aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable environment for all guests.
The environment at Ross Resorts appears to be a significant draw, particularly its proximity to the Ohio River. While some campsites offer direct riverfront access ("You can get sites right on the Ohio"), others are situated slightly inland but still provide scenic views ("I prefer a tad inland with a view"). This variety allows campers to choose a setting that best suits their preferences, whether they desire immediate river access or a more panoramic vista. The campground also boasts "lot's of land to take a walk," indicating opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying the natural surroundings. A notable feature for pet owners is the ability to let "well behaved" dogs off-leash for a "ball toss session in the meadow" without causing any issues, highlighting a pet-friendly policy that respects other campers.
In terms of services and features, Ross Resorts seems to offer a more traditional and laid-back camping experience. Referencing the "old song? 'No phone, no pool'," one reviewer humorously notes the absence of internet and a pool ("no internet, no pool"). This suggests that the focus here is more on the natural environment and a quieter, less amenity-driven camping style. However, basic conveniences are still accessible, with a "Dollar General and Dari-Bar down the road" for essential supplies and treats. Each campsite is described as "generous lots with fire rings," indicating ample space for setting up camp and enjoying campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience. The reviewer also mentions that "each lot has it's own character," suggesting a diverse range of camping spots, possibly varying in size, layout, and views.
A key characteristic repeatedly emphasized is the campground's atmosphere. The description of it being a "no drama camp" suggests a peaceful and respectful environment where campers can relax and enjoy their time without unnecessary disturbances. This could be particularly appealing to local users seeking a tranquil escape from the stresses of daily life. The fact that the reviewer, who has traveled extensively across the lower 48 states, "absolutely love this campground" speaks volumes about its positive qualities and the experience it offers.
Based on the available reviews, Ross Resorts offers the following features:
- Generous campsite lots, providing ample space for campers.
- Fire rings at each lot, allowing for campfires.
- Campsites with varying locations, including direct Ohio River access and inland sites with views.
- Plenty of land for walking and exploring the surroundings.
- A pet-friendly policy allowing well-behaved dogs to be off-leash in designated areas.
- Proximity to a Dollar General and Dari-Bar for basic needs and treats.
- A "no drama" atmosphere, ensuring a peaceful and relaxed camping experience.
- A well-maintained overall appearance, thanks to the efforts of the management.
Missing information that local users might find helpful includes:
- Specific details about the types of campsites available (e.g., RV hookups, tent-only areas).
- The availability and nature of restroom and shower facilities.
- Information about any other amenities offered, such as picnic tables or water access at campsites.
- Details regarding any rules or regulations for pets beyond the off-leash meadow.
- The distance to the Dollar General and Dari-Bar.
- Any specific guidelines or restrictions regarding campfires.
- Information about potential noise levels from the river or surrounding areas.
- Details about accessibility for individuals with mobility issues.
As no specific promotional information is mentioned in the reviews, local users interested in staying at Ross Resorts should contact them directly at (859) 781-4144 or +1 859-781-4144 to inquire about availability, pricing, and any current specials or seasonal rates. Speaking with the management will also allow potential campers to get answers to the missing information and make informed decisions based on their specific needs and preferences.
In conclusion, Ross Resorts offers a compelling "camping near me" option for local users seeking a relaxed and well-maintained campground with a welcoming atmosphere. Its proximity to the Ohio River, spacious campsites with fire rings, and pet-friendly policy are significant advantages. While it might lack some of the modern amenities like internet and a pool, its focus on a peaceful "no drama" environment and the natural beauty of the surroundings, coupled with the positive feedback from experienced travelers, makes it a destination worth considering for a tranquil camping getaway. Contacting Ross Resorts directly will provide the necessary details to plan your visit and experience this "happy place" for yourself.

My "happy" place- Roger does a fantastic job at keeping the camp looking great!!
May 02, 2023 · Stephanie RileyI've travelled through most of the 48 lower states, and I absolutely love this campground. We stayed here monthly sporadically over the last couple years, but this season, we're taking on the whole season here. You can get sites right on the Ohio, but I prefer a tad inland with a view. Lot's of land to take a walk, and you can take your (well behaved) dog off leash for a ball toss session in the meadow and no one gets upset. What's the old song? "No phone, no pool" equates to no internet, no pool and only a Dollar General and Dari-Bar down the road. But generous lots with fire rings and each lot has it's own character. This is definitely a no drama camp.
Mar 20, 2022 · Sandra BaldwinLast summer Keith stayed there all summer it was pretty nice place no problem. But this year we was there just one night. Someone left water on and the owner cursed me out for it. Told me I could pack up and leave. So that's fine we switched camp grounds, hopefully this one is nicer.
Mar 29, 2022 · Amy AdamsWe have been here for 11 years. We love it here. Very will maintained. Peaceful, we have a River view which we love. Huge trees for shade.
