As a featured option within the "camping near me" category, Roza Campground provides a tranquil escape into nature with essential amenities and access to various outdoor activities. Located at 8681 S Canyon Rd, Yakima, WA 98901, USA, Roza Campground is easily accessible and provides a refreshing break for those seeking a quick overnight stay or a basecamp for exploring the surrounding natural beauty.
Roza Campground can be contacted at (509) 536-1200 or via mobile phone at +1 509-536-1200. While it's a smaller campground with just six designated spots, each site is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate up to 10 people according to their regulations. This makes it an ideal location for small groups or families looking to enjoy a riverside camping experience together.
The environment at Roza Campground is a key highlight. Situated right by the river, campers can relish the soothing sounds of flowing water and the picturesque views. The campsites themselves are noted for being flat and free of rocks, ensuring a comfortable setup for tents and other camping equipment. This ease of setup contributes to a more relaxed and enjoyable camping experience, allowing visitors to focus on the natural surroundings.
In terms of services and amenities, Roza Campground offers the essentials for a comfortable stay. Reasonably well-maintained pit toilets are available for campers' convenience. However, it's important to note that potable water is not provided at the campground, so visitors should plan accordingly and bring their own supply. The campground staff appears to be diligent in managing the site, with checks for payment occurring relatively early in the morning, around 8 am. For payment, it seems they may have a credit card reader available, although this was not explicitly confirmed by all reviewers.
Roza Campground boasts several appealing features that cater to different interests. For nature enthusiasts, the location is a haven for bird watching. The diverse riparian environment attracts a variety of avian species, offering excellent opportunities for birders to observe and appreciate local wildlife. Additionally, for those interested in water-based activities, Roza Campground marks the end of the line for water recreation such as rafting, kayaking, and paddleboarding. This strategic location makes it a convenient take-out point for river adventures, allowing for easy transition from water to land.
While the natural setting offers tranquility, it's worth noting some potential ambient noise. A railway line is situated on the opposite side of the river, and during overnight stays, the passage of freight trains may be audible. Additionally, some road traffic noise from nearby trucks can be expected, although it is generally reported as not being excessive. These minor auditory factors are important to consider for those particularly sensitive to noise while camping.
Based on customer reviews, Roza Campground is generally well-received. One reviewer described it as a "great little campground" with desirable features like flat, rock-free spots right by the river. The presence of pit toilets, despite the lack of potable water, was seen as a reasonable trade-off for the location and natural beauty. The early morning payment checks were noted without significant complaint, suggesting an efficient management approach. The reviewer explicitly stated they "would stay again," indicating a positive overall experience.
Another visitor, who did not camp overnight, still found Roza Campground to be a valuable stop. They highlighted its suitability as a place to stretch, use the restroom, allow pets to drink, and capture scenic photographs. This suggests that even for those not planning to camp, Roza Campground serves as a useful and pleasant rest area, further emphasizing its accessibility and convenient location within the "camping near me" category.
In summary, Roza Campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and basic amenities for those seeking a riverside camping experience near Yakima. Its flat campsites, access to bird watching and water recreation, and pet-friendly environment make it an attractive option for various outdoor enthusiasts. While the absence of potable water and the potential for some train and road noise are factors to consider, the overall positive feedback from visitors underscores its appeal as a convenient and enjoyable camping destination within the local area. Whether you're planning an overnight adventure or simply need a refreshing stop along your journey, Roza Campground provides a valuable connection to nature.

Roza Campground Reviews
Great little campground with 6 spots that fit 10 people each (per their rules). Flat spots without rocks right by the river. No potable water but reasonably well-maintained pit toilets.Do note that at this site (as well as for the other sites in the campground) the rail line is on the other side of the river, and a few freight trains came through during our one-night stay. Some trucks on the road as well, but not crazy. Also they seem to come by pretty early checking if you pay (8 am). Looked like they had a credit card reader but we didn’t try it.Would stay again!

Nov 02, 2023 · Amy ColetteThe water was dirty and dog poop wasn’t picked up . It was noisy and small but if you have jet skies definitely a good spot. Not worth the $5 because the Discovery park pass wasn’t valid. Went a mile down the street and found a better place.
May 18, 2021 · Ivy GDay use seems fine, but it's not what I look for in an overnight camp. BLM daily or annual pass needed. America the Beautiful and Golden Age passes can also be used. Camping fees; sometimes sites can be reserved other times of the year they are first come first served. Paved parking with many stalls; stalls also for boat trailers Fire rings and grates. Charcoal BBQ stands. Paved boat launch. Vault toilets. No drinking water.
