Ellensburg KOA Journey Introduce
For those in the Ellensburg, Washington area searching for "camping near me," Ellensburg KOA Journey, located at 32 Thorp Hwy S, Ellensburg, WA 98926, USA, presents itself as a campground with notable features, particularly its scenic location and commendable staff. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed and objective overview of the campground, drawing from available online reviews to highlight its environment, services, and features.
One of the standout aspects of Ellensburg KOA Journey, as mentioned by a recent visitor, is its "beautiful views right on the river." This suggests a picturesque environment where campers can enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty of a riverside setting. Waking up to the sounds of the river and potentially having direct access for activities or simply enjoying the scenery can significantly enhance the camping experience. For those seeking a peaceful and visually appealing "camping near me" option, the riverfront location of Ellensburg KOA Journey is a significant draw.
Another consistently positive point highlighted in the reviews is the quality of the staff. One reviewer specifically noted that the "staff is excellent." Friendly and helpful staff can greatly contribute to a positive camping experience, providing assistance with check-in, offering information about the local area, and addressing any concerns that may arise. This aspect of customer service can be particularly important for both first-time campers and seasoned outdoor enthusiasts looking for a welcoming and supportive environment.
However, it's crucial to also consider some of the less positive feedback to provide a balanced perspective. One recurring concern revolves around the campground's pricing and policies. A reviewer mentioned the cost being "expensive at over $100 per night without use of pool." This suggests that potential visitors should be prepared for a higher price point compared to some other camping options in the area. Additionally, the fact that the pool was not available at the time of this review is a point to note for those who prioritize swimming as part of their camping experience. It would be advisable to inquire about the availability and operational status of amenities like the pool when making a reservation.
Furthermore, a significant policy that has drawn negative feedback is the campground's "2 night minimum stay every day of the week." A former regular visitor expressed their strong dissatisfaction with this policy, stating that they would "never stay here again" due to this requirement. This policy could be restrictive for travelers who are only looking for a single-night stopover while passing through the area, such as those "going to and from Seattle," as mentioned by the reviewer. The inability to book a single night stay, even months in advance, due to this minimum stay requirement, is a crucial piece of information for local users who might have flexible travel plans or only need short-term accommodation.
In a follow-up to the campground's response regarding the booking limitations, the reviewer acknowledged the nice quality of the park and revised their initial one-star rating to three stars, indicating that they would consider staying there if arriving on short notice. This suggests that while the minimum stay policy is a significant deterrent for planned single-night stays, the campground itself has appealing qualities that might attract spontaneous visitors.
As a KOA Journey campground, Ellensburg KOA Journey likely offers a range of standard KOA amenities. These often include well-maintained campsites suitable for RVs and tents, clean restroom and shower facilities (though the review about the pool's unavailability suggests it's worth verifying the status of all amenities), laundry facilities, and possibly a KOA store for basic camping supplies. KOA campgrounds frequently provide family-friendly amenities such as playgrounds, and sometimes organized activities, although these were not specifically mentioned in the provided reviews for this location.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information about the services and features offered at Ellensburg KOA Journey, local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly at (509) 925-9319 or +1 509-925-9319. Inquiring about the current nightly rates, the operational status of amenities like the pool, and any potential exceptions to the two-night minimum stay policy is highly recommended, especially if your travel plans involve a single night or if the availability of specific amenities is crucial to your decision.
While the beautiful riverfront views and the excellent staff are significant positives for Ellensburg KOA Journey, potential local campers should carefully consider the pricing and the two-night minimum stay policy. If you are looking for a longer stay in a scenic location with helpful service and are comfortable with the price point and the minimum stay requirement, this campground could be a great option. However, if you are seeking a more budget-friendly option or only need a single night's accommodation, you might need to explore other "camping near me" in the Ellensburg area. Direct communication with the campground will provide the clarity needed to make an informed decision based on your individual needs and preferences.

Ellensburg KOA Journey Reviews
If I could leave no stars I would. This is the only KOA that requires a 2 night minimum stay every day of the week we used to stay here every summer But we will never stay here againAfter reading your reply I understand why I could not reserve my stay 3 to 4 months in advance on line like I have in the past going to and from SeattleSorry I am not one that makes reservations 1 - 4 in advance. You do have a nice park there. I will change 1 star to 3. & if I ever come by in short notice I will stay at your sitr
Mar 06, 2025 · r kExpensive at over $100 per night without use of pool. Beautiful views right on the river. Staff is excellent
Apr 26, 2025 · Pamme SalterLet me tell you! I stayed here when all other places where booked. The first night the power went out in my cabin. Was pretty upset about the situation. In the morning I headed to the office. The Manager was awesome. I was well taken care of. I was given another night in there deluxe cabin. Boy oh boy was it sweet. Would live there if I could. Great place for the family. Quite, relaxing, and full of fun activities. You definitely need to check it out on your next adventure.
Jul 28, 2024 · Dan JuniorLocations nice. On the river. But for the price you pay the amenities don’t match. Not well maintained. Bathrooms not clean. Needs some serious upgrades for this excessive price. Also KOA’s cancellation policy is BS. There’s a 48hr cancellation policy. Which somehow includes if you are in the middle of your stay and add on a night but have to cancel the additional night the next day….
Sep 13, 2024 · Ryan AndersonFacility is OK but horribly overpriced. Nothing special about facility or location to warrant the high price. Not surprising, it was not full on a weekend even though nearby parks were. Many of the sites do not have sewer. Basic gravel sites. Many are “buddy” layout which we don’t like. Literally right next to highway so a LOT of road noise. Anti-freeze valve on our water spigot leaked big time when water was not flowing; assume no one told them about it. Had to shut it off. Friendly staff and free hot dogs and margs on Friday night.
