Liberty Recreation Site Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts seeking budget-friendly "camping near me" with excellent access to recreational trails, Liberty Recreation Site near Cle Elum, WA, presents a compelling option. Located at Liberty Rd, Cle Elum, WA 98922, USA, this site offers free camping for up to 14 days, making it an attractive destination for those looking to extend their time in nature without incurring camping fees. While it provides a more primitive camping experience with limited amenities, its prime location and access to notable trails make it a worthwhile consideration for self-sufficient campers.
The environment surrounding Liberty Recreation Site is clearly a major draw, with user reviews highlighting the presence of "coolest trails." This suggests that the area boasts scenic landscapes and well-maintained paths suitable for hiking and potentially other activities like mountain biking or horseback riding, although the latter is not explicitly mentioned. The presence of a creek, with latrine restrooms located on either side, indicates a natural water feature that likely contributes to the area's beauty and may support local wildlife. The mention of easy access and egress for larger vehicles like motorhomes and 20-foot trailers suggests that the terrain around the parking and camping areas is relatively flat and well-maintained, accommodating a range of vehicle sizes. The overall environment appears to be one that encourages outdoor exploration and appreciation of nature.
In terms of services, Liberty Recreation Site offers a minimalist approach, consistent with its free camping status. It's explicitly stated that there are no electric, water, sewer, or RV dump facilities available. This means that campers must be fully self-contained and prepared to manage their own power, water supply, and waste disposal. The provision of two latrine-style restrooms, one on each side of the creek, offers a basic sanitation solution for campers. The presence of these restrooms, while not flush toilets, is a fundamental service that contributes to responsible camping practices. The reviews also mention "great parking," indicating that there is designated space for vehicles, including larger RVs and trailers, which is a significant convenience for those traveling with their own accommodations.
The primary features of Liberty Recreation Site revolve around its accessibility and the recreational opportunities it provides. The standout feature is undoubtedly the access to what are described as "coolest trails." This strongly suggests that the site is a hub for outdoor activities, particularly hiking, and that the trails offer scenic views and an engaging experience for users. The free camping for up to 14 days is another significant feature, allowing for extended stays without camping fees, which is a major benefit for budget-conscious travelers. The ease of parking and maneuverability for larger vehicles is also a notable feature, making the site accessible to a wider range of campers, including those with RVs and trailers. The two separate entrances, one at the campground sign and another after the creek culvert with an immediate right turn, provide clear directions for accessing the site, as noted by a helpful user.

Liberty Recreation Site Reviews
This place is legit. I definitely enjoyed my time there and will be back. I think that these are some of the coolest trails I’ve ever been on and the parking was great for the motorhome and a 20 foot trailer super easy to get in and out of and quick
Nov 06, 2023 · BrettWonderful and relaxing.Free, up to 14 days. No electric, water, sewer or rv dump.2 latrine style restrooms, 1 on each side of the creek.1 entrance at campground sign the other after the creek covert. Turn right immediately after.
Jul 19, 2021 · Russ RoushCamped here on our way to Leavenworth. We took the right fork and used the 2nd camp site. I'd suggest going farther in or using the left fork to get away from the road, as you can see passing cars from where we were. Each site has a picnic table and firepit. There was still a burn ban as of 9/27/2022. There is a creek running through, which was nice. Theres one single stall restroom. Camping is free. Only one other person came in later at night, otherwise we had the place to ourselves.
Sep 28, 2022 · Kris ArtleyA hidden gem for FREE camping! Maybe 12 or so spots. Very clean and has open and spacious camping spots. RVs will fit just fine in most. There is a small creek flowing by the campground and also has 2 bathrooms. 4x4 roads in the mountains above. A great place for the outdoor enthusiasts. Check out Liberty Townsite and The First Creek rock shop. This is a great area.
