Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident of or near Andrews, Indiana (46702), and searching for "camping near me," especially if you're interested in equestrian activities or enjoying the natural beauty of the Salamonie Lake area? Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground might be the perfect destination for your next outdoor getaway. Located in close proximity to Salamonie Lake, this campground offers a unique experience tailored to horse enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Let's explore what this campground has to offer based on available information.
When local users look for "camping near me," they often consider the surrounding environment. Salamonie Lake is a significant feature of this region, known for its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. The Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground benefits from this location, providing access to the lake and the surrounding natural areas. According to a customer review, the lake itself is described as "beautiful," suggesting that campers can expect picturesque views and potentially lake-related activities nearby, although the campground itself is specifically geared towards horsemen.
Environment and Trails:
The campground is particularly noted for its trails. One review mentions that the "horse trails and hiking trails are pretty wide and taken care of," indicating that the area is well-maintained for both horseback riding and hiking. This suggests that if you're looking for "camping near me" with good trail systems, this campground could be a strong contender. However, another review points out that "trails are rocky on a lot of spots," which is important to consider, especially if you are hiking or riding with horses that require careful footing.
The presence of both horse and hiking trails directly from the campground is a significant feature for those interested in exploring the outdoors. You can likely expect a variety of terrain, though the rocky nature of some parts should be kept in mind. The width of the trails being "pretty wide" is generally a positive aspect, allowing for comfortable passage for both hikers and horses.
Services and Amenities:
Based on the provided information, there's a crucial detail regarding amenities: "No electric at horse camp. CANNOT HAVE a generator. Was told to shut it down." This is a significant point for potential campers. If you rely on electricity for medical devices, comfort, or charging devices, this campground, at least in the horse camp area, does not provide it, and generators are reportedly not allowed. This suggests a more rustic camping experience in this specific section.
While the review doesn't detail other amenities, typically, a horsemen's campground might include features such as hitching posts for horses, watering areas for animals, and possibly more spacious sites to accommodate trailers and horse transport vehicles. For a comprehensive list of services, contacting the campground directly at (260) 468-2125 or +1 260-468-2125 would be advisable.
Features and Activities:
The primary features of Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground appear to be its direct access to well-maintained horse and hiking trails and its proximity to the "beautiful" Salamonie Lake. Activities would likely revolve around these aspects: horseback riding, hiking, and potentially enjoying the lake (though direct lake access from the campground isn't explicitly mentioned). The ease of navigation within the campground, as noted in one review ("Easy to navigate"), is also a positive feature, especially for first-time visitors.
However, one negative feature mentioned is "Dogs with no leash on trails." If you are bringing pets or are concerned about encountering off-leash dogs, this is something to be aware of. It's always best for pet owners to adhere to leash rules to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors.
Promotional Information:
The provided information does not include any specific promotional details. To find out if Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground offers any special rates, seasonal discounts, or packages, especially for local users or for longer stays, you would need to contact them directly via phone. It's also worth checking if there are any online listings on camping or reservation websites, as these often include promotional information.
Connecting with "Camping Near Me":
For local users in Andrews, IN, searching for "camping near me" that caters to specific interests like horseback riding and hiking will lead you to places like Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground. The positive feedback regarding the beauty of the lake and the quality of the trails suggests a worthwhile experience for those who appreciate these aspects. However, the lack of electricity and the issue with off-leash dogs are important points to consider based on your personal needs and preferences.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information, including details on amenities, trail conditions, and any current promotions, it is highly recommended to call Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground directly at the provided phone numbers: (260) 468-2125 or +1 260-468-2125. In conclusion, Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground, located near Andrews, IN, offers a "pretty nice" setting with a beautiful lake nearby and well-maintained horse and hiking trails. However, potential campers should be aware of the rocky conditions on some trails, the reported issue of off-leash dogs, and the lack of electrical hookups and the restriction on generators in the horse camp area. For those prioritizing equestrian activities and scenic trails in a natural environment, this campground could be a great option when searching for "camping near me."

Salamonie Lake Horsemen's Campground Reviews
Pretty nice place. Easy to navigate and lake is beautiful. Horse trails and hiking trails are pretty wide and taken care of
Aug 19, 2022 · Joe WilsonTrails are rocky on a lot of spots. Dogs with no leash on trails. No electric at horse camp. CANNOT HAVE a generator. Was told to shut it down. Won’t be back.
Sep 08, 2024 · Courtney WilliamsFun on party boat. Great lake and good times.
Jun 20, 2020 · Bill WhitemanI was at the Day Camp and it was very nice, plenty of space for each site and everything you would need. Had a nice bathroom, water hookups for filling buckets or a hose to cool down your horse. Stay out of the woods right in the camp because it is filled with poison ivy.
Jun 20, 2018 · Jeff ColsonVery snooty people ruined our time there with my brother with cancer was told he could camp there beside us then the horse people complained cause he didn't have a horse even though there was plenty of other sites available in the area so was putting no one out made him pack up and leave so needless to say he didn't get to camp with us and ruined the whole get together won't go back again
