Salt Rock State Campground Reviews
This was the only dog friendly state park I could find in Connecticut. We stayed in the partial hookups area. It was shaded but there was a lot of tree sap. My dogs got it stuck all over their paws. The RV sites were hard to get level. Their FHU area is on a grassy area but sits in full sun. The river was a short walk
Jan 10, 2024 · Nelida SafritWe had a great time camping here! It's a small campground with amenities that include an office that sells wood bundles and bags of ice and offers sports equipment to borrow, movies on Saturdays, two pools, playground, basketball hoop, volleyball net, horseshoe pit, trails to explore, and access to the river for tubing. The pools and restrooms are in need of updating. There were a bunch of bees at the pool drinking the water (each of our kids got stung without messing with them, they were minding their own business swimming). For the price of staying here, we would definitely come back!
Jul 24, 2022 · Moriah PayneSalt Rock State Campground is a public recreation area that preserves one mile (1.6 km) of wooded riverfront along the Shetucket River in the town of Sprague, Connecticut. The state park offers RV and tent camping sites, swimming pools, and river fishing. The state curtailed camping services in 2016, reinstating them in 2018. Facilities include tent and recreational vehicle (RV) sites, some of which have utilities. There are also restrooms, a dumping station, showers, and 2 in-ground swimming pools. There is a swim school (Bubbles to Butterflies) that uses the pools for swimming lessons from 10a.m. to 5p.m. during the week days. However, during this time campers are more than welcome to use the pools. Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. 11 month reservation window. The maximum length of stay is fourteen consecutive days. If you have a 14 day reservation, all members of your camping party and your camping equipment must leave the park for 5 days before you can return. In an effort to protect Connecticut's forests from the introduction and spread of destructive insect pests - in particular the emerald ash borer and Asian long-horned beetle - the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is taking the following action:Prohibiting the bringing of firewood into state of Connecticut campgrounds and state parks from other states. As an alternative, firewood can be either purchased at the camp stores within the state campgrounds or at local retail sellers of firewood. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection greatly appreciates the public's assistance in helping to protect the state's natural resources and apologizes for any inconvenience this initiative may cause. One vehicle per site limit. Parking available for second vehicle in visitor lot. Campers must bring their own equipment for recreational activities (horse shoes, swimming tubes, sport equipment, etc). Also, we do not provide each campsite with a grate/grill. Campers need to bring their own.
Nov 05, 2019 · M QMNice place! Lots of walking paths. They have full hookup but those sites are on the end of a field with no shade and are generally smaller sites. Also, the sewer connections are just sorta holes so you get that sewer gas smell🤢. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The forested sites are better.
Jun 09, 2021 · Rob (RobsJots)I found this park randomly and have loved it since. It has trails and access to the river. The dogs and I love walking along the river, nice shallow spots togo in or you can fish deeper out. Large open fields, Theresa couple portapotties and the firepits with benches.
