Savage Streams Campground Introduce
Searching for "camping near me" in the Forks, WA area and looking for a potentially unique and rustic experience? Savage Streams Campground, located at 1324 Russell Rd, Forks, WA 98331, USA, offers a camping option with some distinctive features, including river access and teepee rentals. However, recent customer reviews present a mixed picture, highlighting both positive aspects, such as the natural environment and a helpful initial interaction with staff, alongside significant concerns regarding facilities, safety, and responsiveness of the host. For local users considering a stay here, a careful review of these points is essential to make an informed decision.
The environment surrounding Savage Streams Campground appears to have some appealing natural elements. The presence of a river is explicitly mentioned as being "very beautiful and fun to play in," suggesting a significant recreational asset for campers. One reviewer also noted a "nice grassy field" suitable for setting up tents. Additionally, the initial interaction with who was assumed to be the host's son included permission to pick berries, indicating some natural edible resources might be available on the property, adding to the outdoor experience. The overall setting near Forks, WA, implies proximity to the region's characteristic lush greenery and potentially other natural attractions. However, it's important to balance these positive aspects with other environmental concerns raised in the reviews.
In terms of services and features, Savage Streams Campground offers tent camping on a grassy field and also features teepee rentals. One reviewer who stayed in a teepee reported finding dirty sheets and a bed bug, which raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and upkeep of the provided accommodations. For tent campers, one positive interaction involved the host (or his son) lending a tent protector, indicating some level of helpfulness. However, this same reviewer experienced issues during a thunderstorm when the borrowed protector proved inadequate, and they were unable to reach the host for assistance, eventually having to improvise with a canopy they found. This suggests potential issues with the availability and responsiveness of staff during emergencies. The presence of a cat that sought shelter with campers during the storm indicates a potentially pet-friendly environment, although this is not explicitly stated as a policy.
A significant area of concern raised in the reviews pertains to the bathroom facilities. One reviewer described the bathroom as being "like something out of a horror movie," strongly recommending the use of "honey buckets" instead. Another reviewer mentioned a lack of privacy in the bathroom. These comments suggest that the restroom facilities may be inadequate, unsanitary, or uncomfortable for many campers. This is a critical aspect of any campground experience and a major red flag for prospective visitors.
Another significant service-related issue is the apparent difficulty in locating a water source at the campground. One reviewer stated, "We couldn’t find the water source so we had to go to town to eat out." This implies either a lack of a readily accessible or clearly marked water supply for campers, which is a fundamental necessity for any camping stay. The need to leave the campground to obtain water highlights a potentially serious deficiency in the provided services.
Features of Savage Streams Campground include access to a river that is described as fun for playing in, suggesting potential for swimming or other water-based activities. There is also a "cool swing" that children apparently enjoyed. However, alongside these positive features, one review noted "multiple hazards such as rusty metal objects, tools and chemicals lying around." This raises significant safety concerns, particularly for families with children or anyone concerned about potential injuries or exposure to hazardous materials. The presence of such hazards detracts significantly from the appeal and safety of the campground environment.
The reviews also highlight a lack of responsiveness from the host regarding reported issues. One reviewer who experienced problems with the teepee and the water source stated that "The host never responded to calls and texts about these issues." This lack of communication and failure to address guest concerns is a serious drawback and suggests potential unreliability in the management of the campground.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. Given the concerns raised about the facilities and safety, it is unlikely that the campground is actively promoting special offers. Potential local users searching for "camping near me" should prioritize addressing the significant issues highlighted in the reviews before considering a stay at Savage Streams Campground. It would be prudent to contact the phone numbers provided – (707) 218-7482 or +1 707-218-7482 – to inquire directly about the current condition of the facilities, the availability and quality of the water source, the safety measures in place, and the host's responsiveness to guest concerns. Any promotional offers should be secondary to ensuring a safe and comfortable camping experience.
In conclusion, Savage Streams Campground near Forks, WA, offers a location with river access and unique teepee rentals. However, potential local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of significant concerns raised in recent reviews. These include issues with the cleanliness of the teepees, the potentially hazardous condition of the bathroom facilities, difficulties in finding a water source, and the presence of safety hazards on the property. Additionally, there are concerns about the host's responsiveness to guest issues. While the river is a positive feature, the numerous drawbacks suggest that prospective campers should exercise caution and thoroughly investigate the current conditions and management practices before booking a stay. Contacting the campground directly to address these concerns is strongly recommended to ensure a safe and enjoyable camping experience in the Forks area.

Savage Streams Campground Reviews
Let me tell you, it was an experience. (We went in august of last year) When we got there, the man and I assumed his son greeted us very nicely. As we were setting up, he allowed us to pick berries, which was fun for my gf and our friend and our tent didn't have a top protector for it, so he let us borrow one of his! One of the nights it was thunderstorms all around and of course the protector didn't protect much so we had to go out and find the guy but he was no where and we tried calling him but no answer so we had to use our brains and found this canopy. This whole ordeal was straight up a bit out of a sitcom. The rains pouring down on us while we set it up in the middle of the night. There was also a kitty! We let it sleep with us during the thunderstorm. Also, the bathroom... not a lot of privacy, so I washed my hair and had quick bathroom breaks lol. Overall experience was fun. Will definitely go to forks again.. maybe not this campsite though.
Feb 01, 2025 · Somebody NoThe bathroom is like something out of a horror movie. No, just no. It would be better to get honey buckets. We couldn’t find the water source so we had to go to town to eat out. Sheets on the bed in the teepee were dirty and we found a bed bug. Luckily we had our tent. Nice grassy field to set it up on. The host never responded to calls and texts about these issues. The river was very beautiful and fun to play in. There is a cool swing the kids loved, but there were multiple hazards such as rusty metal objects, tools and chemicals lying around. Tent camping ok if you don’t mind ruffing it and you bring your own water and watch the kids.
Aug 02, 2024 · Melanie WestWorst place to go. Not as advertised. Host was supposed to be Lisa. It was Hyde and dylan. Hyde didn't even know who we were when we told her our reservation. The bathroom was by far the worst part, it was a health code violation in every way. A rest stop bathroom is 5 star quality compared to this. Tacked on to a barn with Squishy plywood..... The place was pictured as nice and clean. But it was not at all. Camp ground right behind a junk yard!?!? Trash literally everywhere!!! And the "privet" camp was 10ft away from 3 others!!! Not as advertised. It was 70 a night. It felt like a 20 a night campground. Do not go here.
May 05, 2021 · Jacob JohnsonWhat to Expect? This place is such a treasure! Camping by the creek is super fun! Here’s what to expect:1. It’s an open camp area, and you can camp wherever you like as long as you are respectful of others.2. You will have to figure out your way on Google Maps. The directions given here will take you to the back side /other side of the creek.3. Washroom is available. It’s not the cleanest but it’s much better than a Honey Bucket. (You are camping and you cannot complain, having a washroom is a Lux near camp grounds)4. Gas station is 5 mins away!5. Wood is available on site for 5 usd.6. Owners will not reply on phone or emails. It’s fine, you can still figure out everything by talking to fellow campers.
Sep 20, 2020 · Naman RajpalFun, eclectic campground with lots of random items around to discover. We watched the meteor shower from the big open field then camped just up from the creek and the ambiance was incredible. Only downside is the bathroom, but it's close to town so that's an easy workaround. Loved it!
