The environment surrounding Second Beach Family Campground is a significant draw, with one reviewer noting that the water was clean and there was ample space to set up. This suggests that the campground offers spacious sites and potentially easy access to the beach. Being located on Sachuest Point Road, campers can likely expect to be near the coastline, enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. The area is known for its natural beauty, which might include coastal landscapes, salt marshes, and diverse birdlife, especially given the proximity to Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. The overall environment offers a blend of beach access and natural coastal scenery, making it appealing for those seeking a seaside camping experience.
The services at Second Beach Family Campground appear to include helpful staff, as highlighted by a reviewer who specifically mentioned Tony being "extremely helpful." This positive interaction suggests that the campground management is attentive to the needs of their guests. While the reviews do not provide a comprehensive list of all services, the fact that campers are setting up implies the availability of designated campsites. The mention of barbecuing indicates that campers are permitted to cook at their sites, a common feature of campgrounds. The process of picking up a pass suggests a structured check-in procedure. It is reasonable to assume that basic campground amenities such as restroom facilities and possibly water hookups are available, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. Given the "Family Campground" designation, it might also offer family-friendly amenities, though specific examples are not mentioned.
The features of Second Beach Family Campground are somewhat gleaned from the limited reviews. Its primary feature is undoubtedly its location near Second Beach, offering easy access to swimming, sunbathing, and other beach-related activities. The spaciousness of the setup areas is another positive feature, allowing campers to spread out comfortably. The allowance of barbecuing at campsites is a typical and appreciated feature for many campers. However, one significant issue was raised regarding an unpleasant interaction with a seasonal camper, which detracted from the overall experience. This incident involved a complaint about barbecue smoke and a lack of neighborly behavior. While this seems to be an isolated issue with a specific individual, it's a factor that potential visitors might want to be aware of, particularly if they are assigned a site near the individuals mentioned in the review (site 9a). Despite this negative encounter, the underlying features of a beachside location and helpful staff still suggest a campground with potential.
No specific promotional information for Second Beach Family Campground is included in the provided reviews. Local users searching for "camping near me" in the Middletown, RI, area should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers or visit their website (if available) to inquire about seasonal rates, availability, and any special offers. Given its coastal location, it's possible that rates might vary depending on the time of year, with peak season during the summer months. Inquiring about site-specific details and any campground rules or regulations would also be beneficial, especially in light of the negative interaction reported with a seasonal camper.
The overall sentiment towards Second Beach Family Campground is somewhat mixed due to the negative experience reported by one reviewer. However, the positive comments about the clean water, spacious setup areas, and helpful staff indicate that the campground has inherent strengths. The location near Second Beach is a significant advantage, offering a desirable coastal camping experience. The incident with the seasonal camper, while impactful for the reviewer who experienced it, seems to be an isolated issue related to a specific site. It's important for potential visitors to consider this feedback as one person's experience and to weigh it against the general appeal of a beachside campground with helpful staff.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Middletown, RI, area who value beach access and a potentially spacious campsite, Second Beach Family Campground is worth considering. The positive aspects of its location and helpful staff should be weighed against the reported negative interaction with a seasonal camper at a specific site. When making a reservation, it might be prudent to inquire about site locations and any general guidelines the campground has for ensuring a positive experience among all campers. Despite the one negative review, the fundamental appeal of camping near the beach in a well-located campground remains.
In conclusion, Second Beach Family Campground in Middletown, RI, offers a coastal "camping near me" experience with the benefits of beach access, clean water, and spacious campsites. The staff, particularly Tony, are noted for being helpful. However, potential visitors should be aware of a reported negative interaction with a seasonal camper at site 9a. It is recommended that local users contact the campground directly for the most current information on availability, rates, and any campground policies to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable coastal camping getaway.

Second Beach Family Campground Reviews
We picked up our pass today. The water was clean and there was lots of space to set up. A picture of you I got contacted
Jun 18, 2024 · Chris ZanghiFantastic location and Tony was extremely helpful! Would have rated 5 stars but did have a terrible experience with a seasonal camper named Chris and her husband who thinks they own the place. Avoid site 9a as they actually complained because we were barbecuing...at a campground...had to move my grill into the parking lot and burned my hand. They claimed the smoke was billowing into their state of the art trailer and their child was going to have an asthma attack...my 26 year old RV that had the grill Just a couple of feet away it did not fill up with smoke and my window was open...lnowing his story was bull I moved it anyway to avoid confrontation and not once did the husband offer to help as he watched me try to carry a hot burning grill which caused a burn on my hand...they ruined my dinner and my vacation and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, not the delicious barbecued chicken which was the plan...would go back but only if not near them. We tried to be kind and courteous campers our whole stay. They should not be allowed to treat paying customers this way and I'm willing to bet I'm not the first person who's had a bad experience with them.
