With phone contact available at (631) 929-4314 and mobile at +1 631-929-4314, this campground appears to be a sizable park on Long Island, offering a blend of natural beauty and proximity to the beach. Based on available customer reviews, potential local users can gain insights into the environment, services, and features to help them decide if Section A Campground is the right choice for their next camping adventure.
The environment of Section A Campground is described by reviewers as featuring rolling hills and beautiful old trees, suggesting a picturesque and mature landscape. The mornings are generally quiet, providing a peaceful atmosphere, although weekend stays might be livelier with more chatter and music, which is typical for many Long Island locations during peak times. A significant environmental feature is the campground's proximity to the beach, which is reportedly a short walk away and offers some "awesome spots for a chair hammock," indicating sandy areas suitable for relaxation. This close access to the beach is a major draw for those looking to combine camping with coastal enjoyment. However, one reviewer noted that the water at the beach was "very dirty," which is an important consideration for potential visitors planning water-based activities.
In terms of services, Section A Campground offers restrooms equipped with showering facilities, which is a notable positive for campers looking for hygiene amenities. There is also a camp store open until 9 pm, providing convenience for purchasing snacks, drinks, firewood, and other camping essentials. This on-site store can be particularly useful for forgotten items or last-minute needs. However, some significant negative feedback regarding services includes the lack of fire rings at individual campsites, with a $10 per day rental fee from the camp store. Additionally, there were complaints about broken or difficult-to-use water pumps, with one reviewer noting a broken pump nearby and another working pump lacking a sink and requiring one hand to operate. These issues with basic amenities are important for potential campers to consider.
The features of Section A Campground include its size, described as one of the "nicer more massive parks on LI," suggesting ample space and potentially a variety of campsites. The rolling hills and mature trees contribute to the aesthetic appeal and might offer some variation in campsite terrain and privacy. The proximity to the beach, with lifeguard services, is a key feature, although the reported water quality is a concern. The presence of a camp store adds to the convenience for campers. However, a significant negative feature reported by one reviewer was the lack of a picnic table at their campsite upon arrival, which had been moved by previous campers. The reviewer also expressed dissatisfaction with the staff's initial lack of attention to this issue, requiring the camper to move the table back themselves. This suggests potential inconsistencies in campsite maintenance and customer service.

The presence of a camp store with extended hours is also a plus. However, potential campers should be aware of some reported drawbacks, including the lack of fire rings at campsites (requiring rental), issues with water pump functionality and the absence of sinks at water sources, and potential problems with campsite amenities like picnic tables not being properly maintained. The weekend crowds might also be a consideration for those seeking a quieter experience. The cleanliness of the restrooms is noted as "clean enough," with showering facilities available, which is a positive aspect.
Based on the available reviews, Section A Campground seems to offer a mixed experience. While the natural environment and beach access are appealing, there are notable concerns regarding basic amenities and campsite maintenance. Local campers who prioritize proximity to the beach and don't mind potentially crowded weekends might find this campground suitable, especially for weekday stays which are recommended as quieter. However, those who value having a fire ring at their site, reliable and convenient water access, and consistent campsite amenities should weigh these reported issues carefully before making a reservation. It would be prudent for potential visitors to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current status of the water pumps, fire ring availability at individual sites, and the assurance of having a picnic table at their reserved campsite. This direct communication can help clarify the current conditions and ensure a more informed decision.
In conclusion, for local residents looking for "camping near me" in Wading River, NY, Section A Campground offers a large park with a pleasant environment of rolling hills and mature trees, as well as convenient beach access. The campground provides essential services like restrooms with showers and a camp store. Weekday camping is recommended for a quieter experience. Local users are encouraged to contact Section A Campground directly at (631) 929-4314 or +1 631-929-4314 to inquire about current conditions, availability, and any potential promotional offers to make the most informed decision for their local camping adventure.

This is one of the nicer more massive parks on LI. The bathrooms are clean enough. The weekend crowds can be a bit rowdy but you’ve got to expect that any weekend anywhere on LI.The park is full of rolling hills and beautiful old trees. Its mornings are quiet too (except on weekends, chatter and music are abound). The beach is only a short walk and has some awesome spots for a chair hammock. Highly recommended for a weekday family camping experience.
Aug 16, 2019 · Ukulele LoverUnderwhelming campground.Negative:1. No fire ring at all and it’s $10/day to rent one from the camp store.2. The water pump next to me is broken and other working water pump is hard to use. No sink at the water pump at all and you have to use one hand to hold the pump handle for the water to come out.3. My camp site has no picnic table because it was moved to another camp site by previous campers, and the staff doesn’t even care to bring the picnic table back for next camper’s arrival. I have to physically drag it back myself.Positive:1. restroom is clean and equipped with showering2. Close to the beach with lifeguard. Although the water is very dirty3. Has a camp store open till 9pm that you can buy snacks, drinks and firewood etc.I have been to other campground with much better camp site and amenities, such as the one at Harriman state park, and this one is just disappointing.
Aug 13, 2022 · Wei Xu (Stephen)Site is clean, bathroom is clean. But this site is not for you if you just want to relax or run away from the city. It’s very crowded and loud. Even it’s at night. Ppl still play music and movie with speaker. No one cares.
Sep 02, 2024 · Ray LeiNo, this campsite is not a getaway. Obviously, lots of noisy people from the city come here, keeping this site noisy the whole night, loud talks, beating music, you name it.
Aug 31, 2024 · Yu ZhaoGreat place to camp! Close to the beach. The site was mostly clean. There are a lot of rules but seems minimal enforcement. They say one car per site but the one next to me had three. Also quiet hours are not really observed.
