Seney Township Campground Introduce
For local users and travelers passing through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan searching for a convenient "camping near me," Seney Township Campground, located on Co Hwy 450 in Seney, MI 49883, USA, offers a small, first-come, first-serve option with basic amenities. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground provides a quiet overnight stay and offers electric sites, although it has limited facilities and can be prone to mosquitos due to its proximity to a stream or river.
The environment surrounding Seney Township Campground appears to be characterized by its natural setting, with a "nice stream nearby." The presence of a water source like a stream often enhances the appeal of a campground, providing potential for scenic walks and the soothing sounds of flowing water. However, one reviewer also noted "a lot of mosquitos due the close proximity to the river/creek," indicating that campers should be prepared for insects, especially during warmer months. The campground is described as "quiet all night," suggesting a peaceful environment conducive to rest.
In terms of services and features, Seney Township Campground operates on a "first come first serve" basis with "self-check in." Campers are expected to "leave money in an envelope in the drop box," indicating an honor system for payment. In 2021, the rate for an electric site was $20. This is a key piece of information for local users looking for "camping near me" with electric hookups at an affordable price. It's important to note that "full-hookups are not available," meaning there are no direct sewer or water connections at the campsites. One reviewer "didn't see a dump station," raising a question about its availability, suggesting that RVers might need to plan accordingly for waste disposal.
The basic amenities mentioned include "pit toilets and fresh water." Pit toilets are a common feature in more rustic or smaller campgrounds, providing a basic sanitation facility. The availability of "fresh water" is essential for drinking and other camping needs, although the source (whether a pump or spigot) is not specified. The contrast between electric sites being available and the lack of full hookups or a নিশ্চিত dump station indicates that this campground caters more to those who need basic electric power but are self-contained in terms of water and waste management.
One negative aspect highlighted by a reviewer was finding the "fire pit at site 3 disgusting," expressing disappointment in the lack of responsibility of previous campers. This serves as a reminder that while campground management provides basic facilities, the cleanliness and condition of individual campsites often depend on the consideration of all users. While this seems to be an isolated incident mentioned in the reviews, it's a point to be aware of and perhaps to check upon arrival at a specific site.
Despite this issue, the same reviewer stated, "We'd come back here to camp," indicating that the overall positive aspects of the campground, such as its quietness and suitability for parking a 30' motorhome ("No problems parking, 30' MH"), outweigh the negative experience with a specific fire pit. The ease of parking suggests that the campsites are reasonably sized and accessible for different types of camping vehicles.
The description of Seney Township Campground as a "great little campground" and "a nice place to stay overnight while traveling through the area" suggests that it serves as a convenient and pleasant stop for those on a longer journey or local users seeking a simple camping experience without extensive amenities. Its location on Co Hwy 450 makes it potentially easily accessible from main routes in the Seney area.
As a township campground, Seney Township Campground is likely managed by the local Seney Township authorities. For local users seeking "camping near me" and wanting to inquire about current rates, dump station availability, or any specific regulations, the provided phone number, (906) 499-3491 or +1 906-499-3491, is the best point of contact. Township-run campgrounds can vary in their services and upkeep, so direct communication can provide the most accurate and up-to-date information.
There is no explicit promotional information provided in the reviews. However, the implicit promotion comes from the positive aspects mentioned, such as the quiet atmosphere, the availability of electric sites at a reasonable price (in 2021), and the convenience for overnight stays. The nearby stream also adds to its natural appeal. For local users or travelers prioritizing these factors, Seney Township Campground presents a viable option.
The first-come, first-serve policy means that reservations are not taken, and campers need to arrive and select an available site. This can be advantageous for those with flexible travel plans but might be a concern during peak seasons when availability could be limited. The self-check-in and honor system for payment reflect a more informal and trusting management approach.
In conclusion, Seney Township Campground offers a "camping near me" option that is particularly suitable for overnight stays and those seeking a quiet environment with basic amenities like electric sites, pit toilets, and fresh water. Its first-come, first-serve policy and self-check-in system provide convenience for travelers. However, potential campers should be aware of the proximity to a stream or river, which can lead to a significant mosquito presence, and the lack of full hookups or নিশ্চিত dump station. Checking the condition of the specific campsite upon arrival, as noted by one reviewer, might also be prudent. For local users and travelers in the Seney area looking for a simple and affordable camping option with electric hookups, Seney Township Campground is worth considering, provided they are prepared for the basic facilities and potential for insects.

Seney Township Campground Reviews
Great little campground so far! First come first serve. Pit toilets and fresh water. Nice stream nearby. Found the fire pit at site 3 disgusting. I wish people were more responsible. We'd come back here to camp, quiet all night. No problems parking, 30' MH.

Didn't see a dump station, but maybe there is one (?). A nice place to stay overnight while traveling through the area. A lot of mosquitos due the close proximately to the river/creek.
Aug 02, 2021 · T BarIt's what to be expected in a small UP campground. Decent sized sites, vault toilets, fire ring. Watch for ticks and mosquito though.
May 30, 2024 · patricia morrisThis is a gem of a hidden campground. Off the highway so no noise or lights. Very private. First come first service. Highly recommend stopping here if on your way through. There is a flowing artesian well for drinking water. Right on the fox river. Highly recommend. We have a 35’ motorhome and had no issues parking.
Jul 27, 2022 · Philip KorczakGreat campground. 20 a day. Some have electric hook ups. Others don't. We went without. There is a natural spring where the water flows crisp and clean; ahhhh. Very well maintained. Porter johns were very clean. Will definitely be back.
