Shady Grove Campground Introduce
For local residents in Pennsylvania searching for a diverse "camping near me" experience, Shady Grove Campground, located at 65 Poplar Dr, Denver, PA 17569, USA, presents a compelling option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers more than just traditional campsites, featuring charming cabin rentals and a variety of seasonal activities, making it an attractive destination for families, couples, and individuals seeking a relaxing or adventurous getaway.
The environment at Shady Grove Campground appears to be a key feature, particularly for those renting the "Deluxe Wood Cabin." This cabin is described as being situated "right on the little pond they have where you can fish and paddleboat," offering a picturesque waterfront view and convenient access to these recreational activities. The presence of a pond suggests a tranquil setting where guests can enjoy leisurely fishing or peaceful paddle boating. The reviewer also noted "some privacy with trees on the lake," indicating that some cabin locations offer a degree of seclusion and a more immersive natural experience. This blend of water features and wooded areas likely contributes to a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere throughout the campground.
The "Deluxe Wood Cabin" itself offers several notable features. It is described as "very cute" and equipped with a pull-out couch for additional sleeping space, making it suitable for families or groups. The inclusion of a "nice bathroom that included a shower" provides a significant convenience and comfort upgrade compared to traditional camping facilities. Additionally, the cabin features a "cute porch," offering a pleasant outdoor space to relax, enjoy the view, and perhaps dine outdoors. However, it's important to note that the cabin does not have central AC and relies on a window unit by the bathroom and a small portable unit for the bedroom, which resulted in the living area being "always a couple degrees warmer." This is a practical consideration for visitors during warmer months.
In terms of services, one reviewer mentioned that the "service was ok but we didn't have to deal with anyone much," suggesting a relatively hands-off approach unless assistance is needed. This could be appealing to those who prefer a more independent and private experience. However, it's also noted that guests are required to take their own trash "a little ways away to the dumpster," which is a logistical detail to be aware of. Despite these minor points, the reviewer concluded that they "would consider coming back to this cabin and campground," indicating an overall positive experience.
Another reviewer highlighted the seasonal appeal of Shady Grove Campground, stating, "This place is great, spring, summer and fall each season there is always something to do!" This suggests that the campground offers a variety of activities and attractions throughout the different seasons, making it a year-round destination for local users seeking outdoor fun. The reviewer specifically raved about the "month of Halloween haunted hayride," describing it as the "Best of all in my opinion" and praising the owners and staff for doing a "fantastic job!!!" This annual event appears to be a major highlight, attracting visitors for a spooky and entertaining experience. The enthusiasm for the haunted hayride serves as strong promotional information for this particular seasonal offering.
While the reviews primarily focus on the cabin rental and the Halloween event, they provide a glimpse into the broader services and features of Shady Grove Campground. The presence of a pond with fishing and paddle boating suggests that the campground offers recreational activities related to water. The mention of seasonal activities beyond Halloween implies that there is likely an events calendar or a range of things to do throughout the year, potentially including nature walks, campfires, games, or other family-oriented programs. To get a comprehensive understanding of all the amenities and services available, local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly.
The positive reviews, particularly the strong endorsement of the haunted hayride and the likelihood of year-round activities, serve as effective promotional information for Shady Grove Campground. The appeal of staying in a cute cabin with pond access for fishing and paddle boating is another significant draw, especially for those seeking a more comfortable camping experience. The fact that a guest who experienced a minor inconvenience with the AC in the cabin would still consider returning indicates that the overall charm and offerings of the campground outweigh these minor drawbacks.

Shady Grove Campground Reviews
We rented the Deluxe Wood Cabin for 3 nights. The cabin was very cute and had a pull out couch for extra sleep space, a nice bathroom that included a shower, and a cute porch. The cabin was right on the little pond they have where you can fish and paddleboat so the view was nice and there was also some privacy with trees on the lake. The cabin did not have central AC and only had a window unit by the bathroom and a small portable one for the bedroom. The living area was always a couple degrees warmer. The service was ok but we didn't have to deal with anyone much. You have to take your own trash a little ways away to the dumpster. Overall, we would consider coming back to this cabin and campground.

Oct 08, 2024 · todd fochtThis is a wonderful campground which we really enjoyed last year, so we returned again this year. The grounds are pretty and well-maintained. There is a large clean pool for adults (with shade!) and a splash pool and playground for children. There is also a fishing pond with ducks and turtles. Very nice laundry room and bathrooms/showers. Lots of TV channels and the WIFI was solid. The location is great - close to the Amish country with lots of great restaurants and shopping. If you need a recommendation for a local place of business or service, Christine is the person to speak with in the office. Last year, Christine recommended a great place to repair our truck, and this year she recommended a pet groomer for our dog.We do agree with a prior reviewer that if Christine isn't there, the office check in can be less than friendly to non-seasonal campers. When we asked at the front desk for some recommendations for restaurants, we were told to "Look at the brochures". Also, there were some organized activities on the Saturday evening we were there, and we weren't invited or told about it, so at times it did feel that we weren't as welcome as the seasonal campers. All told though, a very nice campground which we highly recommend -
Jul 18, 2024 · M VSuper clean and landscaping is really nice for a campground. There is a small pond for fishing with boat rental. Military discount. Two night minimum stay. The office closes at 6pm daily and is always closed On Wednesdays. The bath house is exceptionally clean. The people are the nicest ♥️. There was a power outage because of an accident. Everyone was out of power. It was no fault of the campground. We came in really late on our first night and a nice note with a map was taped to the door to ensure we found our spot. This really was one ofThe cleanest and nicest campgrounds I’ve been in.
Jul 27, 2023 · torie quismundoMy family and I unfortunately stayed here for only two nights, and we did not enjoy it. Although the website flaunts their many amenities and good reviews, we did not have that experience. The pool was pretty, and the bathrooms were clean but they kept hot air blowing in the bathrooms at all times. There are MANY long term residents who are not welcoming at all, they stare and stare at you. When first coming to check in, the lady at the front desk was extremely rude and showed no desire to help anyone besides the long term residents. Overall, this place is not welcoming unless you are a permanent resident, I would not recommend it to anyone, ESPECIALLY families of color.
