Situated conveniently just about 10 minutes south of Harrison and approximately 20 minutes north of the charming town of Jasper, Shady Oaks provides a fantastic location for exploring the natural beauty and attractions of northern Arkansas.
The area surrounding Harrison and Jasper is renowned for its stunning Ozark Mountain scenery, characterized by rolling hills, lush forests, and winding scenic byways. Campers at Shady Oaks can expect to be immersed in this picturesque environment, offering a tranquil and refreshing backdrop for their outdoor adventures. The campground's name, "Shady Oaks," hints at one of its appealing features: plenty of mature trees providing ample shade, a welcome respite during the warmer months and enhancing the overall camping experience.
Based on feedback from actual campers, Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park prides itself on its friendly and accommodating staff. Local users searching for "camping near me" often value a welcoming and helpful atmosphere, and the reviews consistently highlight the positive interactions with the campground team. Whether you are a seasoned RV traveler or a family enjoying a weekend of tent camping, the staff at Shady Oaks appears dedicated to ensuring a pleasant stay for all guests.
In terms of services and amenities, Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park offers full hookups for RVs, a significant convenience for those traveling with larger rigs. While one review noted that navigating a 29' camper into their spot was "tight" due to the wooded lots, they also emphasized the staff's helpfulness in guiding them. This suggests that while the sites might be nestled amongst the trees, the staff is proactive in assisting with maneuvering, even for larger vehicles. Furthermore, the availability of room for a kids' tent on the RV site is a notable feature for families camping together.
For those prioritizing comfort and convenience, Shady Oaks provides clean bathrooms and showers. This is a fundamental aspect that many local campers consider when searching for "camping near me," and the positive feedback on the cleanliness of these facilities is a significant plus. Additionally, the campground offers practical amenities such as the sale of firewood for campfires and a trash pickup service at the sites, adding to the ease and enjoyment of the camping experience.
Families looking for "camping near me" with activities for children will appreciate the fun games and playground available at Shady Oaks. These on-site recreational options provide entertainment for kids, allowing parents to relax and enjoy their time at the campground. The presence of these amenities makes Shady Oaks a family-friendly destination within easy reach for local residents.
In today's connected world, reliable internet access is often a consideration for many campers. Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park offers strong and fast Wi-Fi, with one reviewer specifically mentioning that it was sufficient for streaming TV shows and movies. This is a valuable amenity for those who wish to stay connected, whether for entertainment or other needs, while enjoying their local camping getaway.
The reviews also provide insights into some of the campground's other features. Sites are described as being of decent size, typically requiring only slight leveling. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit, essential elements for enjoying outdoor meals and campfires, both integral parts of the camping experience for many local users. The presence of trees, while sometimes requiring careful maneuvering, provides ample shade, as the campground's name suggests, creating a more comfortable and enjoyable environment, especially during warmer weather.
Shady Oaks also has a common area that guests can use for shared viewing of events, such as sporting events. This communal space can foster a sense of community among campers and provides an alternative way to enjoy entertainment while away from home. The clear marking of the campground entrance is also highlighted as a helpful feature, especially given its location around a potentially tricky crossroads, making it easier for local campers to find their way, even on late arrivals.
While the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, they also offer some objective observations about services that were temporarily unavailable at the time of the reviews due to a change in ownership. Specifically, LP gas refills, which are normally available on-site, were not yet operational. Similarly, the bagged ice machine was awaiting repairs or parts. It is important for local users considering Shady Oaks to inquire about the current status of these services when making their reservations.
One reviewer noted that while their pull-through site would have been convenient, the tight turns due to the trees made backing out to the exit easier for their larger rig. This suggests that while pull-through sites are available, campers with larger RVs might need to plan their exit strategy accordingly. However, the staff's willingness to guide campers into their spots indicates that they are aware of the challenges posed by the wooded environment and are prepared to assist.
Considering promotional information for local users searching for "camping near me," Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park could consider offering several incentives to attract residents of Harrison and the surrounding areas. These might include:

Its convenient location between Harrison and Jasper provides easy access to local attractions and natural beauty. The friendly and accommodating staff, clean facilities, ample shade, and amenities like Wi-Fi, a playground, and a common area for events contribute to a positive camping experience. Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park Reviews
This is a great RV park in a great location, about 10 min South of Harrison and approximately 20 minutes north of Jasper. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We have a 29' camper and it was *tight* to get into our spot, but the staff was very helpful in helping us navigate the wooded lots. Full hook ups available and room for our kids tent. Plenty of shade. Clean bathrooms and showers available. Fun games and playground for the kids. WiFi was strong and fast enough to stream TV shows/movies. They normally have LP gas refills available on site but were not yet up and running after a change in ownership. Similarly, normally there is bagged ice available on site but the machine was awaiting repairs/parts. We had a great experience and will definitely be back.
Mar 27, 2025 · Lonnie RobinsonSites are decent size and facilities are clean. They require some slight leveling but not more than a few inches on most. We had one of the larger rigs in the park (not the largest) but we still had plenty of room on our site. They have a common area that we used for a common viewing for a few sporting events while there. They sell firewood and pickup trash. Sites have picnic tables and fire pits. Trees are tight but they help guide you in even on late arrival. They are really nice folks running the place. The entrance is clearly marked which was really helpful because it is around a tricky crossroads. Had to plan our exit because of all the trees and using our pull through site would have meant squeezing through some tight turns. It was doable but easier to back out to get to the exit. It was a good stay with friends.
Oct 13, 2024 · Dan DurigGreat place to be. Good people, very nice and very clean! I stayed there 6 months, felt like family i never had! Thank you! Plus they have church there ever Sunday. And singing on Friday night. Cabin are real cute and very clean. Petty zoo to. They have a mule there that like to talk. Chicken bunnies. Trails. You will love it.
Nov 09, 2024 · JacquelineMy wife Deb and I have stayed here twice. The first time was April 2024. We stayed the whole month. The second time was recently. We stayed the month of October. We come down from Minnesota for the motorcycle riding. Any direction out of the campground is perfect for riding. Twisty, hilly, lots of trees, ect. The campground staff and owners Ray and Anna are nothing but top notch!! We pull a 32' fifth wheel with a 14' enclosed trailer. Our sites have been perfect and big enough to pull in and leave the trailer hooked up. We like to use it for a garage for the bikes. So the sites are roomy. There is on my site pay laundry machines. The sites were full hookup. No problem with the water, electric or Wi-Fi. There is an activities room with pool table, ect, tv couches and big tables. Both times we were there we enjoyed a camp wide pot luck with live music to boot!! Some people stay there year round and have become like family to us!Ray and Anna are the BEST!! We also really like the Sunday morning church service led by Loyd and Pat (Ray's folks) They are super awesome folks!!💕 We are already booked for next April and October. We love this camp and the folks that run it!!!
Nov 09, 2024 · Steve LangerFrom the moment I found this place doing research, I knew this was where I was going. Once arriving here a few days ago, I knew I had made the right choice. Beautiful campground, friendliest staff. And everyone is so nice here. I love it so much, I have now been here four months and this has become my home. If you want to experience the Ozarks, this is the place. I promise you. Dog Friendly 😎
