New Joes Camping Area Introduce
Are you a bouldering enthusiast or outdoor adventurer searching for "camping near me" in the Orangeville, Utah region? New Joes Camping Area, located on Co Rd 57, Orangeville, UT 84537, USA, presents a convenient and well-regarded option, particularly for those drawn to the world-class bouldering opportunities at New Joes. While offering a more rustic camping experience, its prime location and essential amenities make it a popular choice for climbers and outdoor enthusiasts exploring this stunning area of Utah.
The primary environmental characteristic of New Joes Camping Area, based on user reviews, is its direct proximity to the renowned bouldering areas of New Joes. This makes it an exceptionally convenient basecamp for climbers looking to maximize their time on the rocks. The ease of access to the bouldering sites is a significant advantage, allowing for quick transitions between camping and climbing. While the campground itself is described as "a good place to camp for bouldering," it's important to note the terrain within the camping area.
One reviewer points out that the lower camping spots tend to be "very rocky" for tent camping, suggesting that finding a comfortable and level area for a tent might be challenging in these locations. However, the same reviewer notes that if you venture "all the way down," the terrain transitions to a sandier surface, potentially offering more suitable spots for tent pitching. For tent campers, the recommendation is to "stay closer to the highway," implying that the areas nearer the road might offer less rocky and more accommodating ground. This highlights the importance of carefully selecting a campsite upon arrival to ensure a comfortable stay.
In terms of services and features, New Joes Camping Area offers essential but somewhat limited amenities, aligning with a more primitive camping style. A significant positive aspect mentioned by reviewers is the presence of "clean restrooms," specifically "two pit toilets." While pit toilets are a basic amenity, their cleanliness is a notable advantage, contributing to a more pleasant camping experience. However, it is crucial to note that "no water" is available at the campground. Campers must come prepared with an adequate supply of water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. This lack of on-site water is a key consideration for planning a trip to New Joes Camping Area.
A notable feature that sets New Joes Camping Area apart, especially in a potentially remote area, is the presence of "cell service!" In today's connected world, having reliable cell service can be important for safety, communication, and even accessing climbing information or weather updates. This amenity adds a layer of convenience and security to the otherwise rustic camping experience.
While the campground's immediate surroundings are geared towards bouldering access, one reviewer mentions that it is "a bit of a drive to left and right fork..." This likely refers to other climbing or hiking areas in the vicinity. However, the central location provides relatively easy access to the primary bouldering at New Joes, which is the main draw for many visitors.

New Joes Camping Area Reviews
A good place to camp for bouldering. Two pit toilets, no water. A bit of a drive to left and right fork... but it has cell service! If you are tent camping, stay closer to the highway. The lower spots are very rocky unless you can go all the way down where it gets sandy again.
May 04, 2019 · Mark CarlsonClean restrooms, easy to access, and great proximity to all of the bouldering at New Joes.
Oct 14, 2024 · Cozette Lehman (Little Red Cozette)(BRING MOUSE TRAPS IF CAR CAMPING)Only complaint is that I had mice crawl into My car each night I stayed there. Not really the campgrounds fault, but definitely detracts from the experience. They were all up in my vents and the inner workings of the car, and I could hear them all night long. If one dies in the vents it can be a terrible stench that lasts a long time, and they can also chew through wires and damage your car. Be careful.
Oct 29, 2020 · Jonathan NevilleThere are two new pit toilets now! Just make sure to bring your own toilet paper and leave the area cleaner than when you came! Such great camping!
Apr 11, 2019 · Joslynn PetersonI rated it 3 stars because of two major things. 1 It was snowy and muddy which isn't the sites fault. 2 there are no trees in the campground.
