Situated near a lake and surrounded by potentially fantastic views, this campground aims to provide a tranquil escape for campers of all kinds.
Recent feedback from visitors offers a glimpse into the current conditions and atmosphere of Huntington State Park Campground. One camper described the campsites as "small" and noted their proximity to the lake. While lakeside camping can be a significant draw, this particular review also highlighted some environmental challenges. Notably, the lake reportedly had issues with E. coli and algae, preventing any water-based activities such as swimming or even wading. The lack of significant grass cover at the campsites was also mentioned, potentially impacting comfort and the overall aesthetic of the camping areas. Additionally, the presence of mosquitoes was noted as a potential inconvenience for visitors.
Despite these environmental concerns, the same reviewer mentioned that the restrooms were "ok" and that the campground was "not crowded," even during August, which is typically a popular camping month. This lack of crowds could be seen as a benefit for those seeking a more secluded and peaceful camping experience. The reviewer also described a "ghost town vibe," possibly attributed to a combination of the environmental conditions and recent weather, including three days of rain and wind. It's important to consider that weather can significantly impact the camping experience and the overall ambiance of a location.
In contrast, another visitor offered a more positive perspective, describing the park as a "nice little tucked away park with fantastic views!" This suggests that despite the challenges mentioned by the other reviewer, the natural scenery surrounding Huntington State Park Campground remains a significant asset and a potential draw for visitors who appreciate picturesque landscapes.
Considering the platform category "camping near me," Huntington State Park Campground offers a specific type of outdoor experience. While the recent lake conditions are a significant factor to consider for those planning water-related activities, the potential for fantastic views and a less crowded environment might appeal to campers who prioritize tranquility and scenic beauty. Huntington State Park Campground Reviews
Small campsites near the lake. Unfortunately the lake had Ecoli an algae so not a toe in. Not much grass either. Lots of mosquitos. Restrooms are ok. Not crowded…obviously. A ghost town vibe in August! Maybe it was the 3 days of rain and wind.
Aug 13, 2024 · Jenalee MA nice little tucked away park with fantastic views!
Dec 10, 2024 · Brad WalkerBeach is rocky and muddy. No sand to enjoy. Not a lot of shade. Way out of the way. Wind was so bad we could hardly go outside. Maybe we picked a bad weekend. It was pretty, however. Water and power at each site was nice. Camping sites were generous in non pull through sites.
Jun 15, 2022 · John LyonPretty good little camp ground. The inner circle sites are a bit wonky, saw most have to turn around so the camper door isn't facing the road
May 28, 2024 · Cak ManMy dogs loved it, it was really windy in the afternoon. I thought our tent was going to blow away
