Six Lakes Campground Introduce
Are you searching for the perfect "camping near me" getaway in the Hillsdale, Michigan area? Look no further than Six Lakes Campground, located at 2155 Hudson Rd, Hillsdale, MI 49242, USA. This campground offers a blend of natural beauty and essential amenities for a relaxing outdoor experience. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the joys of sleeping under the stars, Six Lakes Campground aims to provide a convenient and accessible escape.
Based on available information, Six Lakes Campground presents a mixed experience for visitors. One recurring positive aspect highlighted by a customer is the "nice and quiet atmosphere." This suggests that the campground may offer a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing you to truly unwind and connect with nature. The same reviewer also noted having stayed there multiple times and consistently having a "great time," indicating a level of satisfaction and a reason for repeat visits. Furthermore, the "great access to water" mentioned is a significant draw for those who enjoy lakeside activities, although the specifics of this access require further exploration.
However, it's important to consider all feedback. Another review paints a different picture, describing the campground as "run down" and "really overgrown." This suggests potential issues with maintenance and upkeep, which could impact the overall aesthetic and usability of the facilities. The same reviewer also stated that "the lake isn't visible or accessible to swim in from the campsite." This directly contradicts the positive feedback regarding water access and raises questions about the nature and proximity of the water features to the camping areas. Potential local users should be aware of these contrasting opinions and perhaps inquire further about the current conditions.
To provide a more comprehensive introduction for our local users searching for "camping near me," let's delve into what a typical campground offers and how Six Lakes Campground might fit into those expectations, based on the limited information available. Generally, campgrounds aim to provide designated areas for pitching tents or parking RVs. These sites often come with varying levels of amenities, such as picnic tables, fire rings, and potentially water and electrical hookups. Access to shared facilities like restrooms, showers, and sometimes laundry areas are also common.
Considering the positive review mentioning "great access to water," it's plausible that Six Lakes Campground offers opportunities for water-related activities. This could include fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the view of a lake or other water body. If the lake is indeed accessible, it would be a significant feature, especially during the warmer months. However, the conflicting review about the lake not being visible or accessible for swimming indicates a need for clarification. Local users interested in water activities should verify the current accessibility and suitability of any water features for swimming or other recreational uses.
The mention of a "nice and quiet atmosphere" suggests that Six Lakes Campground could be ideal for those seeking a tranquil camping experience. This is a significant advantage for individuals and families looking to escape noise and enjoy the natural sounds of the outdoors. If peace and quiet are high on your priority list when searching for "camping near me," this could be a compelling reason to consider Six Lakes Campground.
On the other hand, the description of being "run down and really overgrown" raises concerns about the overall comfort and appeal of the campground. Overgrowth could lead to issues with insects, accessibility within campsites, and the general ambiance. A run-down appearance might also suggest that facilities are not well-maintained. Local users who value well-kept grounds and modern amenities might find this concerning.
To get a clearer picture, local users might want to contact Six Lakes Campground directly at (517) 439-5660 or +1 517-439-5660 to inquire about the current state of the grounds, the accessibility of water features, and the amenities available. Six Lakes Campground Reviews
Nice and quiet atmosphere. Stayed here multiple times. Always had a great time. Great access to water also.
Mar 26, 2025 · Sanja VernonLooks run down and is really overgrown. The lake isn't visible or accessible to swim in from the campsite.
Feb 23, 2025 · Ashley AnnaUgly. Dirty. Trashy. More like a trailer park than an RV campground.
Oct 11, 2022 · Donald SpottsIt's nice they have a boat ramp and little boats you can rent. There is a playground and not loud or anything at night or to early in the morning. It is pretty close to the road so if you were in a tent you would definitely hear the traffic. Showers a big and water was hot. Not the cleanest but certainly not the worst I have seen. If they had a pool that would be great! Nice owners. Would definitely go again because my husband loves to fish out on the lake there. 🙂
Oct 01, 2022 · Sonya WilsonHad a difficult time initially making the reservation but was a great location with lake access, just know the majority of campground is seasonal. Also a BIG beware that there is a tremendous amount of poison ivy around the campsites & we got no warning despite advising mgt we would be arriving at night. Row boat rental (no motors available) for fishing was super cheap & they had swings & a good old-fashioned merry-go-round for the kids. Pleased that check out was not until 1pm however when we attempted to return the boat stuff & check out 1/2 hour before office closed there was a sign in the window stating they'd be back at 12:45 (she was "running an errand for her dad"). Overall would probably stay again just for the location but would come better prepared for the challenges.
