Sleepy Hollow Farm Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Oshkosh, Wisconsin area, Sleepy Hollow Farm, located at 1679 W Waukau Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54902, USA, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While some aspects of the campground are praised, others raise significant concerns that potential visitors should consider.
One positive aspect frequently mentioned is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. One reviewer noted that "everyone is so nice" and specifically commended the owner for being "very accommodating with a last minute reservation." This suggests that the management is responsive and aims to provide good customer service, at least in some interactions.
The location of Sleepy Hollow Farm is also highlighted as a potential benefit. It is described as being "nestled just far enough in the woods to enjoy the peace and quiet but yet close enough to not have to travel far to get necessities." This balance between a secluded, natural setting and convenient access to amenities could be appealing to many campers.
For families with children, the presence of a "swimming pond" is noted as a positive feature by one reviewer. This could provide a recreational activity for kids and a way to cool off during warmer months.
However, the reviews also raise several significant issues that potential campers should be aware of. One major concern is the condition of the campground, particularly after rain. One reviewer described their experience as a "disaster" due to "mud and muddy sites." While acknowledging that rain can cause such conditions, they noted a perceived lack of effort to mitigate the issue, stating that "it looked as though there was no attempt to add any gravel to the roads that were full of pot holes and sloppy mud." This suggests that the infrastructure of the campground may be poorly maintained, especially regarding drainage and road surfaces.
Another significant drawback mentioned is the apparent lack of advertised facilities. The reviewer stated that "there was no information given about anything beside here is your site." Furthermore, they reported that the "bar, camp store or office" were "non existent, not open or rented out." This lack of essential amenities could be a major inconvenience for campers who rely on these facilities for supplies, information, or social interaction.
The absence of WiFi is also noted as a deficiency. In today's connected world, the lack of internet access can be a significant drawback for many travelers, whether for work or leisure.
Adding to the concerns about amenities, the "new camp store by the pool area" was reported to be "still in the process of being completed," indicating that it was not yet available for use during the reviewer's stay. This further limits the on-site resources for campers.
The lack of readily available firewood is another practical issue raised. The reviewer had to "leave and go find firewood from outside the park due to the fact that no one said anything about where to get anything at all." This highlights a lack of communication and potentially a lack of essential camping supplies on-site.
Noise from the nearby EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) grounds is also mentioned as a potential disturbance. While the extent and frequency of this noise may vary depending on events at the EAA, it's a factor that light sleepers or those seeking absolute tranquility should consider.
The condition of the entrance is also noted, with a recently paved area having "huge piles of gravel sitting waiting to fill in the hole." This suggests ongoing construction or maintenance that may impact the aesthetics and potentially the accessibility of the campground.
The size of the campsites is another point of concern. One reviewer stated that "sites are very small if they are packed and you will not have a lot of room." This lack of space could lead to a less comfortable and private camping experience, especially during busier times.
Despite these numerous negative points, the reviewer did mention that "other campers were very polite," suggesting a positive social atmosphere among the guests themselves.
The reviewer also offered a nuanced perspective, stating, "All and all if your just looking for a quiet place to not be bothered may not be to bad." This suggests that if one's primary goal is solitude and a basic campsite, and if the aforementioned issues are not major concerns, Sleepy Hollow Farm might still be an option. They also noted the willingness of the management to move their site due to the rain, implying some flexibility and concern for guest comfort, at least when occupancy allows.
Finally, the reviewer's comment about the nightly rate ("I guess I shouldn't have expected much more for $50 a night") suggests that they felt the price did not align with the quality and amenities offered. This is an important consideration for potential campers evaluating the value proposition of Sleepy Hollow Farm.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in Oshkosh, WI, Sleepy Hollow Farm offers a potentially quiet, wooded location with a swimming pond and friendly staff. However, potential visitors should be aware of significant concerns raised in recent reviews, including muddy and pothole-ridden grounds, a lack of advertised amenities such as a camp store and WiFi, the potential for noise from the EAA, and small campsite sizes. While the price point might seem reasonable to some, it's crucial to weigh these drawbacks against the positives before making a reservation. Further investigation or recent updates on the campground's condition and amenities might be beneficial before deciding to stay at Sleepy Hollow Farm.

Sleepy Hollow Farm Reviews
Everyone is so nice. The owner was very accommodating with a last minute reservation I needed. This campground is nestled just far enough in the woods to enjoy the peace and quiet but yet close enough to not have to travel far to get necessities. 10/10 highly recommend. I'll definitely camp here again.
Jun 28, 2024 · FeliciaThought we would give it a chance with busy holiday plans it was close to home and though maybe it could be a little hidden gem to get a seasonal site. The two good things they had going for them was that the lady checking in was very nice and they had a swimming pond for the kids.Other than that it was a disaster. With recent rain i understand it can be hard to not have mud and muddy sites but it looked as though there was no attempt to add any gravel to the roads that were full of pot holes and sloppy mud. There was no information given about anything beside here is your site. The "bar, camp store or office" were non existent, not open or rented out. No WiFi at all the new camp store by the pool area was still in the process of being completed. We had to leave and go find firewood from outside the park due to the fact that no one said anything about where to get anything at all.Lots of noise from EAA grounds. Entrance had just been paved and had huge piles of gravel sitting waiting to fill in the hole.I hope they get all the stuff complete before all the EAA guest.Sites are very small if they are packed and you will not have a lot of room. Other campers were very polite. All and all if your just looking for a quiet place to not be bothered may not be to bad. They were willing to move our site if needed with the rain and all but that was likely because they were not full.I guess I shouldn't have expected much more for $50 a night
Jul 15, 2024 · Adam GrohNew bathroom and shower building. But it was not kept clean. We were there for 2 nights. Dirty when we go there and worse when we left. Same hair and ick plus accumulation. They were not very busy. Had time to mow the grass but not clean the showers. Plus they charge for showers. Laundry facilities were out of order. No picnic table or fire ring at site. Open field with no shade . Location is close to EAA museum which was why we went there.
Aug 07, 2024 · emily wallaceRented a mini cabin for the weekend & it hadn't even been cleaned. Bed unmade, food wrappers, animal droppings & a pillow holding the air conditioner in the window. Dead downed trees across the parking & fire pit area. Unfortunately it rained so the drive turns into a mud bowl. Staff was kind but wouldn't recommend staying here. I was there for a fishing event & camp almost every weekend so I wasn't expecting much, but definitely more than what I got. I checked out after the 1st night!!!
Jun 23, 2024 · Patty BrantonSleepy Hollow Campground is a great campground! The owners are friendly and always working on the property. The staff are friendly and hard working as well. The private beach is so nice and clean. No need to bring chairs, they have plenty around the pond. The inflatables are super fun! New this year - a nice play set for the kids. The bathrooms are nice and clean as well. A great experience at Sleepy Hollow! Thanks Jeff!!!
