Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" in the scenic Bryson City area of North Carolina, Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground, located at 755 E Alarka Rd, Bryson City, NC 28713, USA, presents a mixed offering of accommodation options, including traditional campsites and unique "tiny cabins." Situated in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, this campground benefits from the natural beauty of the region, potentially providing a tranquil setting for outdoor enthusiasts. However, recent customer reviews present a somewhat polarized view of the experience, which potential visitors should carefully consider.
The location of Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground in Bryson City suggests proximity to the outdoor attractions that make this area popular. The campground is described by one reviewer as being "in a little valley kind of 1/2 way up the mountain," indicating a potentially secluded and picturesque setting. This type of environment could appeal to those seeking a more immersive natural experience away from the more bustling areas. The surrounding Smoky Mountains offer opportunities for hiking, exploring waterfalls, and enjoying the diverse flora and fauna of the region. For local users looking for "camping near me" with a desire to be close to nature, the location of Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground could be a significant draw.
One reviewer shared a highly positive experience, expressing a reluctance to give a 5-star rating out of a desire to keep this "best fishing hole" a secret. This suggests that for some, Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground offers a truly enjoyable and valuable experience. The reviewer specifically mentioned staying in a "tiny cabin" which, despite lacking running water within the cabin itself (except for a nearby stream), provided electricity, heating, and air conditioning. The restroom was also noted to be nearby. This type of basic cabin accommodation could be appealing to those who want more shelter and comfort than a tent but are looking for a budget-friendly option, as the reviewer pointed out that it is "Cheaper than hotel by far!" For those seeking a rustic "camping near me" experience with some basic amenities, the tiny cabins might be worth considering.
However, a starkly contrasting review paints a very different picture of the cabin experience. This reviewer described their stay as the "Worst cabin I've ever rented," citing several significant issues. These included "worn out mattresses on all beds," a pervasive presence of "Carpenter ants every where," a "Mushy and mold smell in cabin room it was bad," and visible mold on the "bath curtains and on toilet paper roll." This highly negative feedback raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of at least some of the cabins at Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground. The reviewer's decision to leave early due to these conditions underscores the severity of the problems encountered.
Given these conflicting reviews, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of the potential for variability in the quality of accommodation at Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground. While one guest had a positive experience in a tiny cabin, another reported significant issues with a different cabin. This suggests that the condition and amenities may differ between the various lodging options available at the campground.

Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground Reviews
I love and hate to give this place a 5 star rating. Trust me I don't give them out often at all. I love the place. In a little valley kind of 1/2 way up the mountain. I grab a tiny cabin here when I visit. Everything but running water accept in the stream outside and the restroom is nearby. Plus there is electric, heater and AC. Beats hauling a camper or messing around with a tent. Cheaper than hotel by far! So why do I hate to give a 5 star? Because this place is like your very best fishing hole. You don't want to give it up! So please do stay here but just don't take My cabin when I go. LOL
Nov 01, 2024 · Matthew Poe (Poetatoman)Worst cabin I've ever rented. First sight worn out mattresses on all beds Carpenter ants every where. A Mushy and mold smell in cabin room it was bad. Mold on bath curtains and on toilet paper roll. I would have left but I was tired from my drive. We left the next morning early. Never stay their again
Jul 20, 2024 · Thomas RigneyWonderful little campground tucked away and very convenient to Bryson City. Nantahala Outdoor Center is about 20 mins away. The kids played in the creek all weekend. All the tent spots seem very level. We rented 1 of the cabins as well which had AC and was very clean. I was very impressed with how clean the bathhouse was. The only cons I can say is that if it rains alot, it can get very muddy in some areas which is expected. You have to pay attention to where you drive your vehicle or you could get stuck or be spinning. Also, the road to get to the campground is very winding and it seemed to be a pretty busy road so you want to slow down and pay attention when going around curves. Overall, one of my favorite camp spots.
Aug 15, 2023 · Tiffany ColbertI've been here twice now and plan to keep coming back. Carol and Susan are amazing and make you feel right at home. Carol helped us pick out the best site (62). Really enjoyed hearing the creek in the background. Bathrooms and showers are always clean.
Sep 12, 2023 · Holly WhitleyGreat little campground with a friendly staff. If you've never traveled off the beaten path with your truck and camper, be prepared for some fun narrow road to get there. If you can drive, you'll be fine. Clean bath house and just a peaceful camp ground.
