Soldier Creek Dam Day Use Area Introduce
For local residents in search of "camping near me" or simply a beautiful outdoor spot for a day trip, Soldier Creek Dam Day Use Area, located on S Aspen Grv Rd in Heber City, Utah, offers a compelling option. While the name specifies "Day Use Area," it's crucial for local users to understand what this entails in the context of nearby camping opportunities and the overall recreational experience available. Based on the limited but positive customer reviews, this location stands out for its scenic beauty and excellent fishing prospects, with basic facilities available.
Environment: A Beautiful Lakeside Setting
The customer reviews consistently describe Soldier Creek Dam Day Use Area as "very beautiful" and a "lovely spot." This suggests a visually appealing environment, likely characterized by the presence of the Soldier Creek Dam and the associated water body. The location on Aspen Grove Road further hints at potentially picturesque surroundings, possibly with some tree cover, although the specific type and density of vegetation are not detailed in the provided information. The primary environmental feature appears to be the water, which is conducive to activities like skipping rocks, indicating accessible shoreline, and, more notably, fishing.
The presence of a dam typically creates a reservoir or lake, which can enhance the scenic beauty of an area and provide opportunities for various water-related activities. While swimming or boating are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, the general appeal of a lakeside setting often includes such possibilities, although local users should verify permitted activities through official channels. The clarity of the water, the accessibility of the shoreline, and the overall tranquility of the area likely contribute to its reputation as a beautiful spot.
Services and Amenities: Basic Facilities for Day Visitors
The only specific service or amenity mentioned in the customer reviews is the presence of an "outhouse at parking area." This indicates that basic restroom facilities are available for visitors. However, it's important for local users considering a day trip or as a potential reference point for nearby camping, to understand that a "Day Use Area" typically has limited amenities compared to a full-fledged campground. One should likely expect the absence of features such as potable water sources, picnic tables (unless specified elsewhere), fire pits, or overnight camping facilities within the designated day use area itself. The focus is generally on providing access to the natural attractions for daytime recreation.
Given the lack of information about other services, local users should be prepared for a self-sufficient visit. This might include bringing their own water, food, seating, and any equipment needed for their planned activities, such as fishing gear. If considering nearby camping, one would need to research dedicated campgrounds in the vicinity, potentially managed by the same or different authorities, which would offer more comprehensive amenities.
Features and Activities: Fishing and Scenic Enjoyment
The primary feature highlighted in the reviews is the excellent fishing. One reviewer enthusiastically calls it a "killer place to fish," even suggesting good luck regardless of the time of year. This strong endorsement indicates that Soldier Creek Dam Day Use Area is likely a popular spot for local anglers. The type of fish available is not mentioned, so those interested in fishing should consult local fishing regulations and resources to determine what species can be found in the waters near the dam.
Beyond fishing, the area is also suitable for enjoying the scenic beauty and simple pleasures like skipping rocks, as mentioned in another review. This suggests that the location offers a relaxing environment for individuals and families to connect with nature. The presence of a dam might also create interesting geological or hydrological features worth observing. The proximity to Aspen Grove Road implies that it could be part of a larger network of recreational areas or scenic routes in the Heber City region, potentially offering opportunities for hiking or exploring other nearby attractions.

Soldier Creek Dam Day Use Area Reviews
Very beautiful. Lovely spot for skipping rocks or fishing. Outhouse at parking area.
Jul 01, 2019 · Stephanie PotterKiller place to fish. This time if year even sure fishing you'll have some good luck!
Oct 10, 2019 · Michael Christian EenHad a good time, fished some, I'll go back.
Jul 11, 2024 · Justin ShieldsLargest cutthroat I've ever caught, was right here off this dam using a Jakes Silver spinner. Didn't have my little scale and tape measure but my guess is 2-3 pds and 20-23 inches. Hit it HARD.
Sep 25, 2021 · Alex HThis is a fairly quiet area, not a lot of people go out this way compared to other portions of Strawberry Reservoir. The views are great, and you can get some nice images of the dam from not too far from here. During the winter there's great access to the ice here, typically the road is paved up to this point but not beyond this point.
