One review comes from organizers of the "(small bore @ The Gorge) annual group ride," who expressed their gratitude for their stay the previous year. They found the campground "perfect for what we needed!" and highlighted that it has "lots of space to stage the event!" This indicates that South Fork Red River Campground is well-suited for accommodating larger groups and hosting events. The reviewer also noted the kindness of the owner, who was enthusiastic about their return, suggesting a welcoming and accommodating management style. This positive interaction with the owner could be a significant draw for local users planning group outings or events and searching for "camping near me" with ample space.
Another review described the campground as "a good primitive campground with large flat open areas ideal for a larger youth group." This confirms the spaciousness and suitability for groups, particularly those that might require open areas for activities. The review also mentions the presence of "portable toilets spaced throughout the campground" and a "water spigot available near the highway," indicating the basic amenities provided in this primitive setting. However, the reviewer also cautioned about "several dead trees along the riverbank," advising campers to "choose your campsite and tent areas wisely." This suggests that while the environment offers natural beauty along the river, caution regarding potential hazards is necessary. The reviewer noted that the campground was "not very busy on a peak weekend in October," which could be a plus for those seeking a less crowded "camping near me" experience, even during popular times. They did deduct a star due to the absence of on-site staff and instances of "neighbors can be bit loud late into the night," which are points for local users to consider regarding the level of on-site management and potential noise levels.

Jul 09, 2024 · MR Original Concept Garage (BOE'S LUKIN DUKE)A good primitive campground with large flat open areas ideal for a larger youth group. Portable toilets were spaced throughout the campground and a water spigot was available near the highway. There are several dead trees along the riverbank, so choose your campsite and tent areas wisely. The campground was not very busy on a peak weekend in October. Knocking one star since there isn't any staff on-site and neighbors can be bit loud late into the night.
Nov 14, 2024 · Chris WelpOverall a nice place, there’s cheap firewood and each official Tent camp site has a fire pit ready. It stays cool in the shade and by the river and gets pretty cold at night.
May 26, 2024 · Dylan TemplarNight47Nice primitive camp ground. Fire wood for sale across the street. Close to the red river gorge.
Oct 18, 2022 · BenAwesome place very peaceful super easy to get in and out of. I came here at 12 o’clock last night and had no problems. Checking in.
