Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Marion, North Carolina area? Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek, located at 1210 Deacon Dr, Marion, NC 28752, USA, offers a camping destination with a mix of experiences, as indicated by recent customer feedback. You can reach them at (828) 652-7208 or +1 828-652-7208 for inquiries and reservations. Situated in the scenic region of Marion, this campground aims to provide a base for exploring the natural beauty of Western North Carolina, potentially offering a variety of camping options from RV sites to cabins.
Based on the provided customer reviews, the environment and overall experience at Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek appear to have some variability. One reviewer expressed disappointment with their recent stay, mentioning being placed in a gravel lot where early morning noise from diesel trucks (associated with mountain restoration work) was disruptive. This suggests that while the campground is located in a mountainous area, the specific placement of campsites can significantly impact the noise level and overall ambiance. Local users sensitive to noise might want to inquire about the location of their assigned site relative to any ongoing work or busy areas within the campground.
The same reviewer also noted a large puddle of standing water around their site, potentially due to a broken water line to a nearby permanent camper. This raises concerns about site maintenance and potential inconveniences related to water management within the campground. It would be advisable for local users to inquire about the condition of their specific campsite, especially after periods of rain.
The location of amenities within the campground was also mentioned. The canoes and trash receptacles were reportedly at the opposite end of the lake from the reviewer's location, suggesting that the campground layout might require some walking to access certain facilities. The "game room" was described as "terrible," although no specific details were provided about why. Local users who value on-site recreation should perhaps inquire about the current state and offerings of the game room.
Another significant concern raised was the presence of a side-by-side vehicle racing through the campground with apparent disregard for campers or noise levels. This suggests a potential issue with internal traffic management and noise control within the campground, which could detract from the peaceful enjoyment of the natural setting for local users seeking a relaxing getaway.
A second reviewer, who visited early in the season, noted that the pool and slide were unavailable, which is understandable for off-season timing. However, they suggested that it would be beneficial if the office hours were extended later into the day. This could be a point of consideration for local users who might arrive later in the day or have inquiries outside of typical business hours.
This reviewer also observed that the upper part of the campground was busy and full, with many diesel vehicles passing through, which they attributed to the ongoing restoration process in the mountains. This corroborates the noise issue mentioned by the first reviewer and indicates that the presence of work-related traffic might be a recurring factor affecting the atmosphere of certain areas within the campground.
For those considering cabin rentals at Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek, the second reviewer noted that the cabin they stayed in had "minimal household items," advising future guests to plan accordingly and bring necessary supplies. This is an important piece of information for local users who might expect a certain level of provided amenities when renting a cabin.
Based on these reviews, Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek offers a location near Marion, NC, with potential access to a lake and possibly recreational activities like canoeing (though the accessibility was questioned). The environment is mountainous, which can be appealing to nature lovers. However, local users should be aware of potential issues such as noise from diesel trucks (possibly related to seasonal work), standing water at some campsites, the location and condition of amenities, and the level of provided items in cabin rentals.
The reviews do not provide specific details about other potential services such as RV hookups (electric, water, sewer), restroom and shower facilities, laundry services, or Wi-Fi availability. Local users with specific needs in these areas would need to contact the campground directly for this information.
Similarly, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. Local campgrounds sometimes offer discounts for residents of the area, off-season rates, or packages that include access to amenities or local attractions. It would be beneficial for local users to inquire about any such promotions when contacting Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek.
In conclusion, Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek near Marion, NC, offers a camping option in a mountainous setting with a lake. However, recent reviews indicate potential issues with noise levels, campsite conditions (standing water), amenity accessibility, and the level of provided items in cabins. While the early season might limit access to some amenities like the pool and slide, the ongoing mountain restoration work appears to impact the noise environment. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these points and contact the campground directly to inquire about the specific conditions of campsites, the availability and condition of amenities, and any current operational factors that might affect their stay. It would be wise to ask about campsite locations relative to potential noise sources and to confirm the amenities provided with cabin rentals to ensure a satisfactory local camping experience.

Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek Reviews
So sad that we will not be camping here again. 1st time was a nice trip the next trip was just okay and this past trip was a joke. We were put in a gravel lot with workers there helping the mountains so along with all the others on top of the mountain it was a 5:30 wake up call every morning to diesel trucks. There was a huge puddle of standing water around our site that looked to be coming from maybe a broken water line to the permanent unit occupied camper beside us. The canoes and trash were all at the opposite end of the lake and the "game" room is terrible. We were entertained our whole stay by a side by side that raced through the campground with no regards to campers or noise. I do not like giving bad reviews but maybe it will reach Spacious Skies and they will try to resolve some of the issues. If not oh well.
Apr 18, 2025 · Angela RumfeltEarly in the season so there was no ability to use the pool or slide. It would be nice if the office was open later into the day. The upper part of the campground was busy and full. Many diesel vehicles traveling thru but happy they have a place to stay as part of the restoration process. The cabin we stayed in had minimal household items. Plan before you travel.
Apr 16, 2025 · Shelley Kay Fleming (Red)After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a bit skeptical about my family's upcoming stay. I'm glad that I didn't let the negative reviews sway my decision to stay at the campground. My family stayed in the C area of the campground. Yes, this is the side of a fairly steep hill. Leveling our rig side to side required bringing the passenger side up about 4 inches. While I do agree that perhaps more of an attempt can be made to add additional gravel (or grade the driver side down a bit more) to level the site, it wasn't the end of the world for us. The site we were assigned was a pull through and in the open (not a wooded back in site). The issue some have brought up regarding having to pay for WiFi wasn't a big deal for my family as Verizon's coverage was solid at our site.; LTE and 5Guw was available and we had zero issues with it.Additionally, another review had mentioned that there was a fee for use of the campground pool. My family doesn't typically use this amenity at campgrounds we stay at, therefore, we're pretty much neutral on this; we'd treat something like the pool as Gem Mining or having to pay a few bucks to play mini-golf.The two issues kept me from giving this location 5 stars were...1. Improper site to map location. It's possible that I misread the map; however, we arrived at night and the site circled on the map matched the site number we were given but the actual site was incorrectly numbered in the map. Simple fix for this would be to swap the site plates to match the map. Since we had booked a pull through site it wasn't hard to determine the what the issue was.2. While the bath houses aren't cleaned daily, I would recommend emptying the garbage daily and making sure the shower stalls are free of any sort of garbage someone else may've left behind. This looks to be an older and well maintained campground. We enjoyed our stay in sub freezing temperatures! We were very happy to see how fast the staff repaired a waterline that had ruptured during the night causing water pressure issues down stream.Overall, if we visit the area again...My family and I would definitely consider staying here again.
