Sportsman's Park Camping Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines scenic beauty with convenient location and recreational activities, Sportsman's Park Camping, situated at 61772 US-63, Zumbro Falls, MN 55991, USA, presents a compelling option. You can reach them at (507) 753-2568 or their mobile number +1 507-753-2568 for inquiries and bookings. This campground has garnered positive feedback for its picturesque setting, friendly staff, and on-site river activity rentals, making it a potential favorite for those looking for a quick weekend escape.
The environment of Sportsman's Park Camping is frequently lauded for its scenic qualities. Located in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, the campground benefits from the natural beauty of the region, particularly its riverside location. One enthusiastic reviewer described waking up to the colorful tree line and the flowing river as "so peaceful," especially during the fall when the foliage undergoes its vibrant transformation and the weather is cool. This suggests that the campground offers a tranquil and visually appealing setting, ideal for those seeking a relaxing retreat in nature. The convenience of the location is also highlighted, with a BP gas station and a few small local bars situated nearby, providing easy access to basic necessities and local flavor. Furthermore, its proximity to nearby state parks offers opportunities for additional exploration and outdoor adventures beyond the campground itself.
Sportsman's Park Camping offers a range of services and features aimed at enhancing the camping experience. A significant draw, particularly during the warmer months, is the availability of on-site canoe, kayak, and tubing rentals. This allows campers to easily enjoy the river, providing a pleasant break from the campsite and a fun way to experience the natural surroundings. The campground is also praised for its welcoming staff. One reviewer specifically mentioned Mike, who provided a friendly greeting upon arrival, and Sully, who offered firewood and handled site fees while also sharing his knowledge of the campgrounds and engaging in enjoyable conversations with guests. This personal touch and helpfulness of the staff contribute significantly to a positive camping experience.
While the majority of feedback is positive, it is crucial to acknowledge all available information to provide an objective introduction. One deeply concerning review paints a starkly different picture, detailing an extremely negative encounter with an older male staff member who was allegedly driving a golf cart while intoxicated. This review describes instances of rudeness, personal insults, and a lack of empathy towards a grieving camper and her children. The reviewer recounted feeling so uncomfortable and insulted that they chose to pack up and leave late at night, strongly advising others against visiting the site if this individual remains employed there and demanding a refund and an apology. This serious allegation warrants careful consideration by potential visitors, and it underscores the importance of consistent and professional conduct by all campground staff.
Promotional information is limited to a mention of the cost of tubing ($100) and a campsite ($50) by the reviewer who had the negative experience. It is unclear if these prices are standard or specific to their situation. The positive reviewer did not mention any specific pricing or promotions. Local users interested in the current rates for campsites and rentals, as well as any potential special offers or seasonal packages, should contact Sportsman's Park Camping directly at the provided phone numbers.
In the context of "camping near me," Sportsman's Park Camping presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. On one hand, it is lauded for its scenic riverside location, the convenience of on-site watercraft rentals, and the friendliness of some staff members. The proximity to local amenities and nearby state parks adds to its appeal for those seeking a blend of natural beauty and accessibility. However, the serious allegations of unprofessional and offensive behavior by a staff member, as detailed in one review, cannot be ignored and should give potential visitors pause. It is essential for local users to weigh these contrasting experiences when considering this campground for their outdoor getaway.
For local residents of Zumbro Falls and surrounding areas looking for "camping near me" with river access and rental options, Sportsman's Park Camping offers a seemingly attractive option. The positive accounts of the beautiful environment, especially during the fall, and the welcoming interactions with some staff members suggest a pleasant experience. However, the deeply troubling account of misconduct by another staff member highlights a significant potential risk. It would be prudent for prospective campers to seek more recent reviews or clarifications from the campground management regarding the staff and their conduct before making a reservation.
If you are a local user considering Sportsman's Park Camping for a quick weekend away, it is recommended to inquire about the current staff and the measures in place to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all guests. While the scenic location and recreational opportunities are appealing, addressing the serious concerns raised in one of the reviews is crucial for a positive camping experience. Contacting the campground directly to discuss these issues and gather more up-to-date information would be a wise step before finalizing any plans.
In conclusion, Sportsman's Park Camping in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, offers a potentially scenic "camping near me" experience with riverside access and on-site rentals. While praised for its location and the friendliness of some staff, a serious negative review detailing unprofessional and offensive behavior by a staff member presents a significant concern. Local users should carefully consider all available feedback and seek further information from the campground management to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.

Sportsman's Park Camping Reviews
This campsite deserves all the stars! I hesitantly write this review because I’m selfish and don’t ACTUALLY want anyone else coming here and taking up spaces at the campsite. The location is scenic while also very conveniently located. I typically have gone in the fall when the colors are changing and the weather is cool. Waking up to the colorful tree line and the flowing river is so peaceful. The grounds are near a BP gas station and a few small local bars. Typically, if we venture out we hit up one of the nearby state parks. The on-site canoe/kayak/tubing rentals are very fun in the summer and offer a pleasant break from the campsite. The people working on the grounds are also very welcoming. Mike was the first to greet me when I arrived to set camp for my group and was so friendly. Sully came by later in the evening to offer firewood and collect the site fees. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to the campgrounds and we enjoyed chatting with/getting to know him.Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quick weekend away.
Oct 14, 2024 · Alicia RemerTHIS CAMPSITE DESERVES NO STARS! There is an older guy with long hair and long beard that drives around drunk on a golf cart, not sure what his role is but works at the campground. He approached our campsite earlier in the day. I had questions in regards to the wood. Was the wood we purchase from the campground kept under shelter and also the latest we could purchase wood as rain was in the forcast and I was waiting to see what the weather outcome would be. A few hours later, the drunk guy on the golf cart drove up to our campsite and parked as we were gathering with friends. He welcomed himself to a conversation with us. Drunk guy said he would talk to everyone at the site and with rudness he said exept for me, the one who was questioning him on purchasing wood. What an insult !? After feeling the need to defend myself he then said "I feel bad for your husband, IF you have one!" In front of my children and friends. This in return triggered my son as my husband, the father to my children had recently just passed away. This then triggered me enough to pack everything up and leave at 10PM with my kids. The guy showed no remorse when I explained the situation regard my husband and kids father passing. He continued to degrade me and argue. I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone one EVER!! I would also like all of my money back including all the extra money to make this trip happen! This was the first time we had tried a tubing/camping without their dad! The drunk guy crushed us! :($100 for tubing & $50 for the site.$200+ for additional expenses. And an APOLOGY to me and my kids !!!!I will continue to share my story and the name of the campground as long as this drunk guy works there!!
Jul 14, 2024 · J HJuly 3-5, 2023 my mother in law took myself and my 3 month old puppy (Modelo) camping! Yes, we camp in tents!!Couldn’t believe we got a spot because we got off to a late start but had several sites to choose from! We were greeted as soon as we pulled in by a very pleasant and helpful grounds tenet- and his cats!! Lol $30 for tents and $50 for RV!!! Porta potties-except one- were actually pretty clean. Running water and electricity hook ups! Fire pits!!The kind and generous man who greeted us brought us a small bundle of wood FOR FREE! (We forgot ours)to get us through our first evening! Very quiet place and we had plenty of space between us and our neighbor- who we met the next day and we all tried to go tubing- my dog was terrified and Mom-THANKFULLY-called it off almost immediately. THEY ACTUALLY GAVE US OUR MONEY BACK!!! Found a calm area close by just over the bridge! My dog was so great full!!! And we had a good time. Split a load of wood with our neighbor friend and it was perfect! No showers is the downside- otherwise we would have stayed even longer.
Jul 27, 2023 · Heleena Schaub (Helz)Great place to camp and kayak from/to. First come first served spots, electrical and water are available, no sewer or sewage dump station, (2023 rates-$25/night-cash or check) There are vault toilets on the North end of campground and porta potties on the south end. No showers. They do sell firewood (2023 -$30 for a small trailer load) There is canoe/kayak/tubing rental onsite.
Aug 14, 2023 · Michael MoldeNice quiet campground with water access to kayak the Zumbro River. The host told us it hasn't filled up all summer and as I write this there are lots of sites available. I honestly don't get why. If you are looking for a last minute campground in southeast Minnesota this is a great choice.
