My parents were seasonal for 30+ years, my dad passed away unexpectedly at the end of the season. Knowing they had paid for storage for the camper for the winter there, we went out to winterize it and start collecting things from the site/camper. We were greeted by the owners right away and told we had three weeks to get everything off the site, they needed to get it ready for the next people. They reluctantly agreed to let us leave the camper until the spring, being that our mother was also ill we didn't have time to move the camper. I understand it is their business but the fact that my parents had been such long-time seasonals meant virtually nothing. It was very apparent in the spring that we were old news for them, they moved our camper across the street with a flat tire (they did help us fix that), they also helped us sell some things but then forgot to send some of the $$$, had to call and remind them that they owed $$$. They also charged us more than I thought it was worth, to pull a boat lift out of the water, we spent a lot of summers growing up at that campground but the way we were treated at the end was just cold and unnecessary. Would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to be treated like a person instead of part of their business.I just read the response from the owner to my review. It seems our perceptions on what happened are a little different, which is normal. The one thing I didn't appreciate on there response was being told they suspected we did something illegal. Neither of my parents were cremated so if there was anything spread on their property or the lake it was not by us. - Deb Conway

Looking for "camping near me"? Consider Ponderosa Campground, located at 40460 Wabasha County Rd 90, Mazeppa, MN 55956, USA. You can reach them by phone at (507) 843-3611 or their mobile number, +1 507-843-3611. While specific details about the campground's amenities and natural environment aren't explicitly provided in the limited information given, we can infer some aspects relevant to local campers based on its location and the nature of campgrounds in general, alongside the experiences shared by past visitors.

Mazeppa, Minnesota, is situated in a region known for its natural beauty, likely offering a scenic backdrop for a camping experience. Campgrounds in such areas often provide opportunities to connect with nature, potentially including wooded areas, open spaces, and possibly access to water bodies, although this is not explicitly stated for Ponderosa Campground. For those searching for "camping near me" who appreciate a more rustic or outdoor-focused experience, Ponderosa Campground's location in Wabasha County suggests it could offer a traditional camping atmosphere.

Based on the provided reviews, it appears that Ponderosa Campground has historically catered to both seasonal and short-term campers. One reviewer mentioned their parents being seasonal campers for over 30 years, indicating a history of long-term stays at the campground. This suggests that Ponderosa Campground may offer seasonal site rentals, which can be attractive to locals looking for a recurring getaway or a summer home base. The mention of "winter storage for the camper" further supports the idea of seasonal arrangements being a part of their services.

However, the reviews also raise some concerns regarding customer service and management practices, particularly concerning long-term patrons. One reviewer recounted a difficult experience following the unexpected passing of their father, a long-time seasonal camper. They described a lack of empathy and a focus on preparing the site for new occupants, even in light of their family's circumstances. The reviewer also mentioned issues with the handling of their camper and the sale of some belongings, including a delay in receiving payment. This experience suggests that while Ponderosa Campground may have a history with seasonal campers, recent interactions have left some feeling undervalued.

Another review highlighted issues with management honoring commitments, specifically regarding a move to a lakeside lot. The reviewer, who had been camping at Ponderosa for a total of 11 years (8 as permanent and 3 as weekenders), stated that new management in July 2014 initially agreed to their move but later changed their mind, giving the spot to others. This feedback indicates potential inconsistencies in communication and adherence to agreements under new management, which could be a point of consideration for those looking for a reliable and consistent camping experience "near me".

It's important for potential local users searching for "camping near me" to consider these experiences alongside the basic information about the campground. While the natural setting of Mazeppa and the potential for seasonal camping might be appealing, the reviews suggest a need for caution regarding management practices and customer service.

To provide a more comprehensive introduction, it would be beneficial to have more details about the specific amenities offered at Ponderosa Campground. Typically, campgrounds provide facilities such as restrooms, showers, water hookups, and possibly electrical hookups. Some may also offer recreational amenities like playgrounds, fire pits, picnic tables, and laundry facilities. The mention of pulling a boat lift out of the water in one of the reviews hints at potential access to a lake or other water body, which could be a significant draw for those interested in water-related activities while camping "near me".

Given the limited positive information in the provided reviews, it is challenging to highlight specific features or promotional aspects. The focus of the feedback has been primarily on negative experiences related to management and customer interactions. Therefore, a truly objective introduction based solely on this information must reflect these concerns.

For local users considering Ponderosa Campground for their "camping near me" needs, it would be prudent to perhaps contact the campground directly to inquire about their current services, amenities, and policies. Understanding the present management's approach and the facilities available would be crucial in making an informed decision. While the location in Mazeppa might offer a pleasant natural environment, the experiences shared by previous long-term campers suggest that potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues.

In summary, Ponderosa Campground in Mazeppa, MN, has historically served both seasonal and short-term campers. Its location in Wabasha County suggests a potentially scenic camping environment. However, recent customer reviews indicate concerns regarding management practices, including communication, honoring commitments, and customer service, particularly towards long-term patrons. Locals searching for "camping near me" should weigh these points carefully when considering Ponderosa Campground.

To get a complete picture, potential campers are encouraged to seek additional information about the campground's current offerings and policies directly from Ponderosa Campground. This will help in determining if it aligns with their expectations for a "camping near me" experience.
