SUMMIT VIEW Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" options and considering a cabin rental in the Sevierville, Tennessee area, SUMMIT VIEW, located at 4228 Wears Valley Rd #171, Sevierville, TN 37862, presents a cabin experience that, based on recent customer feedback, warrants careful consideration. While the cabin offers a location within the scenic Wears Valley, a quieter side of the Smoky Mountains, several reviews point out a number of issues that potential renters should be aware of before booking.
The environment surrounding SUMMIT VIEW is described as a wooded hillside in Tennessee, which naturally implies a setting with trees and potential for wildlife encounters, including insects like ladybugs and, as one reviewer unfortunately experienced, stink bugs. While a wooded environment can be appealing for those seeking a nature-filled "camping near me" experience, the reviews suggest that the specific location of SUMMIT VIEW might have drawbacks. One guest noted that the view from the balcony, which is presumably a key feature given the cabin's name, is "severely blocked by trees," which could detract from the expected scenic experience. Additionally, the approach to the cabin might be challenging to locate, especially in the dark, as the address initially leads to a mailbox off the main road, requiring careful adherence to emailed directions to find the actual cabin.
The services encountered by recent guests at SUMMIT VIEW appear to have been reactive rather than proactive. While a maintenance man did respond to a complaint about a non-functional kitchen sink, the issue itself (a stuck spray button on the faucet) should ideally have been addressed before guest arrival. Similarly, the initial door code provided to one guest did not work, necessitating a call to the office to obtain a new one. Another service-related issue was the discrepancy between the advertised welcome packet of local coupons and its actual absence in the cabin. Furthermore, information such as the WiFi password was not readily available within the cabin and required some troubleshooting by the guest to locate it on an Alexa device, suggesting a lack of clear communication regarding essential amenities.
The features of SUMMIT VIEW, based on the reviews, present a mixed picture. While the cabin is described as "just big enough for two people" by one guest, suggesting a cozy space, others point out several maintenance and cleanliness concerns. Issues with window coverings include broken blinds in the bedroom that compromise privacy and a lack of coverings on other windows and the door leading to the deck. A malfunctioning refrigerator door that would not close properly is another reported problem. Cleanliness appears to be an area of concern, with one guest noting dust on top of the refrigerator and a "huge cobweb up near the ceiling in the shower." The presence of a hot tub on the balcony is mentioned, but one reviewer expressed reluctance to use it due to its outdoor location and potential for unseen creatures underneath the cover. The kitchen was reportedly stocked with utensils and cookware, but a skillet was missing for one guest, requiring a call to guest services. The availability of WiFi is confirmed, but accessing the password was not straightforward. The lack of reliable cell service (spotty AT&T service mentioned) is also a feature to consider for those who need to stay connected.
Promotional information for SUMMIT VIEW is not provided within the reviews. However, one guest mentioned paying $525 for a 2-night stay and another paid "a little over $600" for a week in early October, leading both to express dissatisfaction with the value received given the numerous issues encountered. These price points suggest that SUMMIT VIEW is positioned as a mid-range rental, and the expectations of guests at this price level were not met. Potential local users considering this "camping near me" option should weigh the reported costs against the described condition and amenities to determine if it aligns with their budget and expectations. It would be prudent to inquire about any current promotions or discounts directly with the rental company, but also to thoroughly investigate recent reviews from multiple sources before making a booking.
The overall impression of SUMMIT VIEW based on the provided reviews is one of potential disappointment if expectations are not managed. While the location in the Wears Valley area offers proximity to the Smoky Mountains, the cabin itself seems to suffer from several maintenance and cleanliness issues that significantly impacted the guests' experiences. Problems with privacy due to inadequate window coverings, malfunctioning appliances, and cleanliness concerns detract from the potential enjoyment of the stay. The obstructed view from the balcony further diminishes a key advertised feature. The positive aspects mentioned are the responsiveness of maintenance for the sink issue and the eventual discovery of the WiFi password, but these are overshadowed by the more significant problems reported.
The experience of one guest who had a "infestation of stink bugs" on their last night, leading them to leave early and book a hotel, is particularly concerning for potential renters, especially during warmer months when such issues might be more prevalent in a wooded environment. This incident, coupled with the other maintenance and cleanliness concerns, suggests that SUMMIT VIEW may require significant improvements to meet the expectations of guests paying a premium for a cabin rental. Local users seeking a comfortable and hassle-free "camping near me" experience in a cabin might want to explore other options in the Wears Valley or Sevierville area that have more consistently positive recent reviews regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and overall value.
In conclusion, while SUMMIT VIEW offers a camping cabin option in the Wears Valley area near Sevierville, TN, recent reviews indicate several notable issues concerning cleanliness, maintenance, privacy, and obstructed views. Potential local users searching for "camping near me" cabin rentals should carefully consider these reported problems and weigh them against their expectations and budget. It is strongly recommended to read multiple recent reviews from various sources and potentially inquire directly with the rental company about the current condition of the cabin and their efforts to address the concerns raised by previous guests before making a booking decision. Exploring alternative cabin rentals in the area might lead to a more satisfactory and enjoyable "camping near me" experience.

SUMMIT VIEW Reviews
The cabin was reasonably clean and equipped but there were a few issues. The blinds in the bedroom had several slats that had the ends broken off, allowing someone from the outside to see inside. These need to be replaced. The other windows and door leading to the deck had no covering at all.I had to deal with ladybugs getting in but it is a wooded environment, so it's not unexpected. I sprayed Raid around window and door frames (inside and out) and that helped. Next time I rent a cabin I will also bring a vacuum to clean up the dead bugs. The fridge door would not close completely on its own.The kitchen sink had no water flow. The maintenance man came out and discovered that the button on the faucet outlet that activates the spray feature was stuck and had to use a knife tip to unstick it. This needs to be fixed. The door code I was initially given did not work so I had to call the office to receive a new one.All in all I would actually give it a 3.5/5 because for $525/2 nights I expect things to be a little more orderly.
Nov 08, 2024 · Mark JansenI'm giving it a 3 because I booked this cabin without reading the reviews first which is something I always do. First thing you should know is if you Google the address it will bring you to a mailbox with the address on it, if you're going to fast or it's dark you can easily drive right by it. The emailed directions were accurate from that point on to get us to the cabin. As I stated I didn't read reviews first after booking I found some and them weren't very favorable so I came with low expectations, having said that it wasn't as bad as I expected but not as nice as I hoped it would be.It's a cabin up in the hills in Tennessee so I didn't expect it to look like a newly built house and it doesn't it could probably use a makeover on the outside the inside was ok, definitely just big enough for two people. However there are other larger cabins on the same road leading to Summit View that look at least from the outside to be newer and nicer. I also wished the trees were trimmed off the back of the balcony because the beautiful veiw off the balcony is severely blocked by trees. Probably not a whole lot they can do about this, but just an observation. Some things that would have made me give it a 5 star are.... And you will be able to see in the pictures.1. There was no welcome packet of coupons for local things to do as advertised.2) Nothing in the cabin had the wifi password on it and cell service is spotty, was barely able to make calls on AT&T service. I called guest services after hours and the person said oh it should be on the router....wrong answer... I then noticed an alexa enabled hub on the fireplace mantel with a message saying welcome, so I said hey alexa what's the cabins wifi password and bingo it displayed it. In my opinion that information should have been included in the email I got.3. The advertisement says the cabin is fully stocked with utensils and cookware. Everything else seemed to be there except a skillet, all we could find was a sauce pan. We called guest services and they said they would bring one out tomorrow. We brought food to cook but decided to just eat out for the two days we'd be here. We brought sandwich meat to make sandwiches if we got hungry while in the cabin. The top of the refrigerator was dusty I made an x in the dust that you can see in the picture, the blinds in the bedroom were in bad shape, the left one couldn't be raised or lowered because it had no rope or handle to open the blinds, the right one had about half an inch of rope showing and I was able to lower it but not able to open the blinds as the handle was also missing. There was a huge cobweb up near the ceiling in the shower as you can see in the picture. The balcony seems to be in good shape, there is a hot tub but we weren't about to get in it lol. If it was inside maybe we would have considered it but I'm not fond of but not a whimp about creepy creatures and wasn't trying to find out what may or may not be under the hot tub cover. I try to be fair when giving reviews but for what this cost, a little over $600 the first week of Oct. I expected better.Update...I'm changing my rating to a 2. On our last night we had an infestation of stink bugs envade our cabin. I noticed and killed about 7 in a five minute time span. We weren't due to check out until 10am Wednesday morning but hurried and packed and left the cabin Tuesday around 4:30 pm and got a hotel room down on the Parkway. I would definitely recommend reading reviews and even checking to see when the cabin was built. The pictures on the company website don't accurately depict what the cabin looks like today. My pictures do.
