Sunny Side Acres Introduce
For local users in and around Kenney, Illinois, who are exploring options for "camping near me," Sunny Side Acres, located at 2933 IL-54, Kenney, IL 61749, USA, presents a campground with a mix of reported experiences. Reachable by phone at (573) 227-8669 or mobile at +1 573-227-8669, this campground offers a location approximately 30 minutes from Decatur. Based on the available customer reviews, potential visitors should be aware of both the positive aspects and significant drawbacks before making a decision.
In terms of the environment, one reviewer notes that Sunny Side Acres is "Quiet!" This suggests that the campground may offer a peaceful and tranquil setting, potentially appealing to those seeking a respite from noise and a more relaxed atmosphere. This quiet environment could be a significant advantage for individuals looking for a serene camping experience close to home. However, the other review does not elaborate on the natural surroundings or the overall aesthetic of the campground. Therefore, local users should consider that while quietness is a noted feature, further information about the landscape, shade, or general ambiance is not available from these reviews.
Regarding services, the reviews provide contrasting perspectives. One customer explicitly states, "No bath house, so keep that in mind." This is a crucial piece of information for potential campers, as the absence of a bathhouse means there are likely no public showers or restroom facilities with running water available at the campground. Campers considering Sunny Side Acres should be prepared to be self-sufficient in terms of hygiene and sanitation. This lack of a bathhouse might be a significant deterrent for some, particularly families or those accustomed to more developed campgrounds. On the other hand, another reviewer mentions that the campground is "Great for the traveling working men/women." This suggests that Sunny Side Acres caters to individuals who may have their own facilities within their RVs or campers and are looking for a longer-term, quiet place to stay while working in the area. This implies the potential availability of longer-term site rentals and possibly some basic utility hookups, although the specifics are not detailed.
The features of Sunny Side Acres are also viewed differently by the reviewers. The positive aspect highlighted is its quietness, which can be considered a feature for those seeking a peaceful environment. Additionally, its proximity to Decatur (within 30 minutes) could be a feature for individuals working in or needing access to the city while preferring a quieter living situation. The fact that it's deemed "great for the traveling working men/women" suggests that it might offer amenities or a setup that is particularly suitable for this demographic, such as potentially longer-term leases or ease of access for larger vehicles. However, a significant negative feature is the report of "faulty power" that "surely seems like a fire hazard." This is a serious concern regarding safety and the functionality of essential utilities for RV campers who rely on electricity. The reviewer also mentions "nobody staying at the actual campsite to help with any issues," indicating a potential lack of on-site management or assistance for campers experiencing problems. The difficulty in getting issues resolved ("felt like pulling teeth trying to get something done") further detracts from the overall appeal and suggests potential challenges in receiving support during a stay.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the mention of being "30 minutes from Decatur" could be seen as a locational advantage for those needing to be near the city. The characterization as "Quiet!" might also serve as a promotional point for those specifically seeking a tranquil camping experience. Conversely, the negative review regarding faulty power and lack of on-site support acts as a significant deterrent and a warning to potential campers. The fact that it's considered suitable for "traveling working men/women" could also be a specific target demographic for any promotional efforts, although no such efforts are detailed in the provided information. Local users searching for "camping near me" will need to weigh these contrasting viewpoints when considering Sunny Side Acres.
For local users in the Kenney and Decatur areas, Sunny Side Acres presents a mixed bag. Its quiet environment and proximity to Decatur could be appealing. Furthermore, if you are a traveling worker with your own self-contained RV, the campground might offer a suitable, longer-term option. However, the serious concerns raised about faulty power and the lack of on-site management are significant red flags that should not be ignored. The absence of a bathhouse is another crucial factor to consider, as it will impact the comfort and convenience of the camping experience, especially for tent campers or those without full facilities in their RVs. Potential campers should carefully assess their needs and priorities against these reported conditions. It might be prudent to contact Sunny Side Acres directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current status of the power situation, the availability of any on-site assistance, and to clarify the facilities available, especially regarding restrooms and showers.
In conclusion, Sunny Side Acres in Kenney, IL, offers a quiet location that is conveniently located near Decatur and appears to cater to traveling workers. However, potential local users searching for "camping near me" must be aware of the significant negative feedback regarding faulty power that could be a fire hazard and the reported lack of on-site management to address issues. The absence of a bathhouse is another critical factor that will influence the suitability of this campground for different types of campers. While the quiet atmosphere might be appealing to some, the potential safety concerns and lack of amenities warrant careful consideration and further inquiry before choosing to stay at Sunny Side Acres.

Sunny Side Acres Reviews
I can’t bring myself to recommend this campsite, the power is faulty and surely seems like a fire hazard on top of nobody staying at the actual campsite to help with any issues. Any issues that were brought up felt like pulling teeth trying to get something done. If you value your camper and your sanity, please stay somewhere else.

Aug 02, 2024 · Ryan RoGreat place to relax after work, cheap, and awesome owner. Huge spots for any rig size
Jul 06, 2022 · Joe TravertinesOwner has stolen my money and won't return my calls. They damaged my camper with rocks from the lawn mower and then said it was too bad. We filed an insurance claim and will let them deal with it. Terrible water pressure, just overall terrible. I told the owner when I paid the month in advance that I would probably leave early and he said just to call him and he would take care of it. When I try to call I get no answer. The lawn company has no insurance and the campground doesn't require them to. They are reckless.
