Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC Introduce
For local residents and travelers seeking "camping near me" with convenient access to the attractions of Washington DC, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts located in Lothian, Maryland, presents itself as an option. However, based on recent customer feedback available online, it's crucial to approach this campground with realistic expectations regarding its environment, services, and features. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview, highlighting both the positive and negative aspects reported by recent visitors to help local users make informed decisions.
The environment of Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC appears to be a point of concern for some guests. One reviewer explicitly states that the place is "run down" and predominantly functions as a "trailer park for locals" with a limited number of spots available for those passing through. This suggests that the aesthetic and overall atmosphere might not align with the typical expectations of a camping resort focused on transient visitors. Another significant environmental issue raised is the presence of "ridiculous potholes" throughout the campground roads. This poor road condition can impact the driving experience within the resort and potentially pose a risk to vehicles, particularly RVs. Additionally, low overhanging branches are mentioned as a potential hazard for scratching trucks and RVs, indicating a lack of adequate maintenance in some areas of the property.
The density of the campsites is also a notable environmental factor. According to one review, the sites are so close together that it's possible to "shake your neighbor's hand out the window." This lack of space between sites can significantly impact the sense of privacy and tranquility that many campers seek. For those accustomed to more spacious camping arrangements, the close proximity of sites at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts might be a considerable drawback.
In terms of services and features, the reviews present a mixed picture. On the positive side, one guest specifically commends the staff as "friendly and easy to get along with." Another reviewer echoes this sentiment, noting that the one staff member they encountered at check-in was "nice." This suggests that while interactions with staff might be limited, the personnel encountered are generally perceived as pleasant. Additionally, a "veterans discount" is mentioned as a benefit offered by the resort, which could be a significant advantage for eligible local users.
However, significant concerns are raised regarding the cleanliness of the facilities. One reviewer describes the bathroom and shower areas as "disgusting." In contrast, another guest mentions the "bath house (3 individual rooms with toilet, sink and shower)" as staying "pretty clean." This discrepancy in reports suggests potential inconsistencies in the maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities, or perhaps a difference in the specific facilities used by each reviewer. Nevertheless, the negative comment is a serious consideration for prospective visitors who prioritize clean and sanitary restrooms and showers.
Another notable point regarding services is the apparent lack of visible employees beyond the check-in process, as mentioned by one reviewer who stated, "Did not see one employee other than at check in." This could imply limited on-site support or assistance available to campers during their stay. While not explicitly stated as a negative, the absence of readily available staff might be a concern for visitors who anticipate needing assistance or have questions during their time at the resort.
One reviewer also raises a concern about the value for money, suggesting that the price charged is too high for the perceived quality of the place and recommending that it should be "half of what it is." This indicates a potential mismatch between the cost of staying at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts and the overall experience, particularly concerning the condition of the grounds and facilities.
Features of the campground are somewhat limited based on the reviews. The mention of individual bathroom units (each containing a toilet, sink, and shower) is a positive aspect for those who value private facilities. However, beyond this, specific recreational features or amenities that might typically be expected at a "camping resort" are not highlighted. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the basic infrastructure (sites, roads, bathrooms) and the service provided by the staff.
No specific promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal offers, or package deals should contact Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC directly at (443) 607-8609 or +1 443-607-8609 to inquire. Given that a veterans discount is mentioned, it is possible that other discounts might be available. It would be prudent to ask about any current promotions when making inquiries about availability and pricing.
In conclusion, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC offers a location within reasonable proximity to the nation's capital, which might be appealing to those wanting to combine camping with visits to Washington DC attractions. The friendly staff and the availability of a veterans discount are noted positives. However, potential local users should be aware of significant concerns raised by recent visitors regarding the run-down nature of the campground, the poor condition of the roads (potholes, low branches), the close proximity and potential lack of levelness of some RV sites, and the cleanliness of the bathroom/shower facilities. The apparent lack of visible staff beyond check-in and the perception that the pricing does not align with the quality are also important considerations. While it might serve as a basic overnight stop for some, those seeking a well-maintained and amenity-rich "camping near me" experience might want to explore alternative options in the region before making a reservation at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC Reviews
Just no. This place is run down! It’s mostly a trailer park for locals with a few spots for those passing through. The sites are so close you can shake your neighbors hand out the window. The bathroom/showers are disgusting. Did not see one employee other than at check in. The price should be half of what it is for the quality of the place. On the positive side, one one staff member we saw at check in was nice. Just keep driving.
Apr 06, 2025 · Jamie RGod: Staff is friendly and easy to get along with, bath house (3 individual rooms with toilet, sink and shower) stays pretty clean. Veterans discount.Bad: low overhanging branches that will scratch your truck/rv; RIDICULOUS potholes. Simple math says this place brings in over $200k/month before expenses. There's no reason not to get some asphalt laid. The rv spots on the hill are tight to get into and they aren't remotely level.
Mar 29, 2025 · Daniel woodPlace went to the crapper after Duncan’s sold. Went one time after the sale. I’d never return. What a sad way to go. Sell to some corporation who only cares about the dollar. What was once an amazing weekend get away is no more. I wouldn’t waste a penny on these corporate money hungry goons.
Feb 18, 2025 · Thor OdinsonThis was a stop on our way home from SC going to NJ. Sad to say that this place is poorly maintained. After it rained the and there were leaves everywhere and when walking our pups I stepped into a pot hole and twisted my ankle. The roads were horrible full of holes. Spots are very tight. We had to ask to move because the smell was horrible, someone next to us needed a pump out and dogs barking in trailers, home alone for hours. I could goo on... This was our last stop and the worst place we stopped at after a month of traveling.
Dec 02, 2024 · Deb StingerMy husband and I stayed here for about 3 months for his job and we had a great time. The staff were really friendly and helpful and our neighbors were friendly too. I really enjoyed the nature trail and walked my dog on it 2 or 3 times a day. I see a lot of complaints about potholes on the dirt road but the maintenance staff filled them in not long after we started our stay. We didn’t have any issues and enjoyed Maryland and DC.
