Mountain View RV Resort - RV Park Royal Gorge CO Introduce
Mountain View RV Resort - RV Park Royal Gorge CO, located at 45606 W U.S. 50, Cañon City, CO 81212, with contact phone numbers (719) 275-0900 and +1 719-275-0900, presents itself as an option for those seeking "RV parks near me" in the vicinity of the Royal Gorge in Colorado. Based on the available online reviews, the resort offers a mix of positive environmental aspects and specific policies that potential guests should be aware of.
From a scenic perspective, Mountain View RV Resort appears to offer a desirable environment. One positive review highlights the "beautiful location for great sunset views and the snow-capped mountains in the distance." This suggests that guests can expect picturesque surroundings, enhancing their RV experience. The park is also described as "very quiet and laid back," which can be a significant draw for RV travelers seeking a peaceful retreat. Furthermore, the mention of "big pull thru sites" and "level gravel sites" indicates that the park is equipped to comfortably accommodate larger RVs, offering ease of access and setup, which are often key features for those searching for "RV parks near me" that cater to various RV sizes.
In terms of services and features, the positive review notes the availability of "full hookups," a crucial amenity for many RVers, providing water, electricity, and sewer connections at the site. The review also mentions good cellular service for AT&T and T-Mobile users, which is important for staying connected while traveling. The presence of a gate that "stays shut" with a code for entry suggests a focus on security, potentially providing guests with a greater sense of safety during their stay. A staff member named Red is also mentioned for guiding guests to their spots, indicating a level of personalized service upon arrival.
However, it is essential to consider a contrasting negative review that raises significant concerns regarding the park's policies, particularly concerning late arrivals. This reviewer recounts a frustrating experience where they were denied entry to the park after 5:00 pm, despite intending to arrive around 9:00 pm for a one-night stay. The reviewer was informed of a strict policy of gate closure at 5:00 pm with no re-entry allowed after that time. This policy is described as "over-the-top and outlandish for RV travelers," especially considering the implications for guests who might need to leave for groceries or meals and return after the stated closure time. The reviewer also mentions a sarcastic and unhelpful response from the staff member on the phone.
The negative review further points out a discrepancy with another park's policy, which allows arrivals up to 30 minutes after sunset. The experience left the reviewer, traveling with two young children, without accommodation at short notice. The reviewer also anticipates a response emphasizing the need to read the rules but argues that such critical policies should be prominently displayed during the booking process. Additionally, they mention a perceived unwelcoming attitude towards small children based on other reviews, although this is not directly experienced in their interaction.
Considering these contrasting experiences is crucial for anyone searching for "RV parks near me" and evaluating Mountain View RV Resort. While the park offers appealing aspects such as a quiet environment, scenic views, full hookups, and a sense of security, the strict gate closure policy and the reported inflexibility regarding late arrivals are significant drawbacks that potential guests must be aware of. This policy could be particularly problematic for travelers who anticipate arriving outside of the stated hours due to long travel days or unforeseen delays.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Therefore, individuals interested in potential discounts, special offers, or seasonal rates should contact the Mountain View RV Resort directly using the provided phone numbers or visit their website if available. It would also be prudent to inquire about their specific policies regarding check-in times, gate access, and any other regulations that might affect their stay.
In conclusion, Mountain View RV Resort - RV Park Royal Gorge CO offers a potentially attractive setting for RVers with its quiet atmosphere, scenic views, full hookups, and secure environment. However, the strict policy regarding gate closure at 5:00 pm and the apparent lack of flexibility for late arrivals, as highlighted in one detailed negative review, are critical considerations. Prospective guests should carefully review the park's rules and policies before booking, especially if their travel plans might involve arriving after the stated closure time. Direct communication with the resort management is recommended to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information and to address any concerns regarding their policies and services. While the park boasts positive environmental and amenity features, the restrictive access policy could be a significant deterrent for some RV travelers seeking "RV parks near me" with more flexible arrival options.

Mountain View RV Resort - RV Park Royal Gorge CO Reviews
Unfortunately never got the chance to actually stay. We were on our way to another destination and were going to do a one-night stay here in between. My husband booked it and the day of our drive up, we knew we'd be a bit later and wanted to just give a heads up and get information on how to navigate the site a bit later (9 pm). So, we made a call to the site and the person on the other end told us that no, we could not come later, as they close and lock the gates at 5 pm. And also laughed when my husband was surprised he hadn't seen that in the booking itself and basically offered no solution or help in where we might stay otherwise. We were dumbfounded that he said that "you could leave after 5, but you can't get back in." Imagine if a guest went to grab grocery items or have a meal and came back to locked gate at 5 pm! I'm sorry, I have a personal policy not to leave poor reviews because everyone has bad days, but I found this truly confusing and frustrating, as we also had our 2 and 4-year-old children, and it left us with no place to stay at that moment! Thankfully, we could find a very nice spot at Lake Pueblo State Park last-minute that happily took our money and allowed us entry (and exit if needed) after 5:00 pm! They're policy apparently states that arrivals 30 minutes after sunset (9pm for early summer or 8pm around labor day), would not be allowed in the park. We had stated that we should arrive around (likely before) 9pm- still no allowance whatsoever. Would not recommend this place. Unfortunate! Looking at other poor reviews, I know the responder will rant about how we should have read the rules and policy. I don't fully disagree on that point, however, it should be in any listing as well. They will likely say they "offered to let us drydock outside the campground", which was nothing more than them saying "you can park in our parking outside the gates". Realistically, we'd have been getting there still in right at or just before the stated time with small children, but no. And apparently according to reviews, small children aren't welcome either, so I guess that makes no difference to them. So we'd have been paying the site fee to sit out in a parking lot with our small kids because they didn't feel it was allowable to let us in likely before their own stated cutoff time! It very much felt like this was something they do often, which made it feel even more odd as it's clear from reviews that others have had the same issue, making it feel even a bit "scammy". Moreover, the sarcastic, bad attitude of the person on the phone was completely unnecessary and simply translates to poor service. READ THE RULES and find print. Apparently, we didn't, and it bit us in the end, however, the rules seem over-the-top and outlandish for RV travelers.
May 06, 2025 · Summer StaffordVery quiet and laid back park. Big pull thru sites. Full hookups. Level gravel sites. Beautiful location for great sunset views and the snow capped mountains in the distance. Will definitely stay here again when coming thru. At&t and T-Mobile work here. We don't have a Verizon phone, so can't tell you if it works or not. Red guided us to our spot. Nice and clean park. It also has a gate that stays shut but you have a code to get in. Felt very safe.
Apr 27, 2025 · e wThis RVPark is one of our favorite for the location and quiet setting. The Mountain View name is appropriate as the views are spectacular. We love to watch the hoses and dogs in the adjoining yard. Plenty of hiking trails and outdoor activities to keep you busy.Looking forward to our 2 months here this spring/summer.
Apr 06, 2025 · Martina SligerVery nice park. Super clean and well maintained. Pet friendly which is huge for us! Very nice showers and office /shop. All gravel roads around the park and very nice concrete pads at every site with picnic tables and plenty of room for chairs.Short drive to all the touristy stuff around the Royal Gorge area (like 5 minutes) and only 5-10 minutes back into Canon City if you need something. Also super friendly staff, especially Red who helped escort us to our site and also help me disconnect my Toad!
Jul 15, 2024 · Michael LydonI will start with the good before the bad1. The campground is in a beautiful area2. Very clean and well maintainedNow for the bad, when we arrived we parked next to a HUGE bump that we didn't see and there were no signs saying bump. We followed the owner behind his golf cart to our cabin and went over the bump at 3 miles per hour and it cracked our muffler in half. When I spoke to Paul he said if you went 5 miles per hour that wouldn't have happened. So we got blamed for their terrible bump. Also in the cabin it says if you take the key there will be a 5 dollar charge. We wanted to keep the key for memories so we left 10 dollars in the cabin for them. We then get a phone call after we checked out saying he is charging us 20 dollars for the key. We said we left 10 dollars and the sign said 5. He said it costs .ore than that.. we wouldn't have taken the key if we knew it was 20 bucks. He then hung up on us after we told him look we didn't complain about the bump and even left extra and he continued to charge us the 20 bucks. You pay almost 10 bucks for 5 slices of wood and the store hours is posted 10 a.m. but I went to talk to them at 10:15 and the office was still closed and he got upset when I saw him working in the office and knocked on the door. This was our first campspot experience and was disappointed. We will be back in the area but will not be choosing Mountain view for our stay.
