Tallahassee East Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking "camping near me" in the Tallahassee area, Tallahassee East Campground, situated at 346 KOA Rd, Monticello, FL 32344, USA, presents itself as a potential option. With contact numbers (850) 997-3890 and +1 850-997-3890, this campground offers a location within reasonable proximity to Tallahassee, providing an escape into nature. Based on the available customer reviews, the experience at Tallahassee East Campground appears to be varied, with some guests highlighting positive aspects while others express significant concerns. It’s crucial for local users searching for "camping near me" to consider these differing perspectives when evaluating this campground.
One positive review describes the grounds as "beautiful," specifically mentioning a "lovely lake and dock" that offers opportunities for fishing and relaxation. This suggests that the environment at Tallahassee East Campground may appeal to those who appreciate natural beauty and water-based activities. The presence of a "large shared area" suitable for outdoor games, bonfires, and gatherings indicates a potential for social interaction and family-friendly activities within the campground. This reviewer also noted the cleanliness of the shared bathrooms as a significant positive, which is often a key concern for campers relying on communal facilities.
The availability of different accommodation types, including "deluxe and basic cabins," is also mentioned in the positive review. The reviewer found both types of cabins to be "clean and ready" upon arrival during multiple stays. This suggests that for some guests, the cabin rentals at Tallahassee East Campground have provided a satisfactory level of cleanliness and preparedness. The reviewer also commented on the clubhouse, noting that while it may not be modern, it serves its purpose, implying that essential facilities are available for campers.
However, a contrasting review presents serious concerns regarding the cleanliness and condition of the cabins. This reviewer reported finding "animal feces on the beds," cabins that were "not cleaned even a little," with "trash all over the floor," and a room that "wreaked of mildew." These are significant issues that would understandably detract from a positive camping experience. The same reviewer also described the beds as "practically just 2 ply wood" despite a nightly charge of "$80+," which they felt was excessive, particularly given the circumstances of evacuating for a hurricane in Milton. Furthermore, this review pointed out the need for guests to bring their own sheets and the sole reliance on a "public restroom" for cabin occupants.
Considering these contrasting viewpoints, the environment at Tallahassee East Campground seems to have the potential to be pleasant, with a lake and shared outdoor spaces. However, the upkeep and cleanliness of the accommodations appear to be inconsistent based on the provided reviews. Local users searching for "camping near me" who are considering cabin rentals should be particularly aware of the stark differences in the reported experiences.
In terms of services and features, we can infer the following based on the reviews:
- Accommodation options: The campground offers both basic and deluxe cabins, catering to different needs and potentially budgets. However, the quality and cleanliness of these cabins seem to vary significantly.
- Lake and dock: Providing opportunities for fishing and relaxation by the water.
- Shared outdoor area: Suitable for games, bonfires, and group gatherings.
- Shared bathrooms: Available for all campers, and at least one reviewer found them to be clean. However, cabin renters may rely solely on these facilities.
- Clubhouse: While not described in detail, it serves a functional purpose for campers.
Features that might be expected at a campground, but are not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, could include:
- RV sites: It is common for campgrounds to offer RV hookups, but this is not confirmed in the provided text. Local users with RVs should inquire specifically about availability and amenities.
- Tent sites: Similarly, the availability of dedicated tent camping areas is not mentioned.
- Potable water access: Essential for all campers.
- Waste disposal: Necessary for maintaining a clean environment.
- Fire pits or grilling areas: Common for cooking and campfires, but not specifically mentioned for each cabin or campsite.
- Picnic tables: Often provided at campsites or cabins.
Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not contain any details about current offers or discounts at Tallahassee East Campground. Local users searching for "camping near me" who are interested in potential promotions should:
- Contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about seasonal rates, special deals, or any discounts for local residents.
- Check online travel or camping platforms that might list Tallahassee East Campground and any associated promotions.
- Look for any potential website or social media presence for the campground where deals might be advertised.
Given the mixed reviews, local users considering Tallahassee East Campground for their "camping near me" experience should weigh the potential benefits of the natural environment and cabin options against the reported inconsistencies in cleanliness and accommodation quality. It would be prudent to seek more recent reviews and potentially contact the campground directly to get a clearer picture of the current conditions and services offered. If cleanliness and well-maintained facilities are a top priority, prospective campers might want to inquire specifically about the measures the campground takes to ensure a positive guest experience. Ultimately, the decision will depend on individual priorities and tolerance for a more rustic versus a more amenity-focused camping experience.

Tallahassee East Campground Reviews
Let’s be real—this is camping, not a luxury hotel. Bugs, dirt, and the great outdoors are part of the deal, and that’s exactly the charm. My family has stayed at this campground multiple times, and it’s always been a great experience. We’ve used both the deluxe and basic cabins, and each time they were clean and ready for us when we arrived. The clubhouse isn’t fancy or super updated, but it gets the job done—and honestly, you shouldn’t be spending your camping trip inside anyway. The grounds are beautiful, featuring a lovely lake and dock where you can fish or just relax. There’s also a large shared area that’s perfect for outdoor games, bonfires, and gathering with family or friends. We even used a small speaker and had no issues while enjoying the space.Shared bathrooms were clean, which is a big win when you’re camping. Overall, this place offers a solid camping experience. If you’re expecting hotel-level amenities, this may not be your thing—but if you appreciate nature and the basics done right, this spot delivers. We’re already planning our next trip!
Apr 19, 2025 · Samantha O’DellAnimal feces on the beds, The cabins were not cleaned even a little trash all over the floor, room wreaked of mildew. The beds are practically just 2 ply wood while charging us $80+ a night while evacuating for milton. You have to bring your own sheets and there’s only a public restroom.
Oct 10, 2024 · Neomi Johnsonevacuated to this campground from st pete, during hurricane Milton, upon paid via phone credit card for 5 days not knowing the outcome of hurricane, stayed in a park model cabin musty smell, tarp on roof broken door, got called back early as being a first responder , when explained to store staff reason I was requesting reat of paid days back they denied refund ,only stayed one night, paid for 5 . no compassion even during a evacuation, hurricane. will not refer this campground to anyone.
Oct 11, 2024 · LUANNE DUBEPretty little campground right off the Interstate. Monthly rates are available, and they have a section for the longer term campers that's quiet and tucked away. There is a beautiful community center with a lounge, a full sized pool table, a laundry facility, a little store, and a shower facility. Walking trails, a little pond to fish at, a lovely playground, dumpster on site, and a pool are all complementary. Many spots have full hookups and the lot is easy to navigate; roads and parking spots are dirt, not paved. Their team members are very friendly and helpful.
Feb 02, 2024 · Amber StarlingThis once way a beautiful campground. We were there one night. Staff friendly. Bathrooms clean. Pool area clean. But grounds very run down and overgrown. Sad to see. Hopefully someone can eventually restore it to its former glory.
