You can reach Alice and Doug, the hosts, at (828) 479-9791 or +1 828-479-9791. Based on the enthusiastic reviews from previous guests, this introduction will delve into the environment, services, and features of this camping cabin, highlighting its appeal for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in a natural setting.
The environment surrounding The Owls Perch is consistently described as beautiful and scenic. Situated near Robbinsville, NC, the cabin likely benefits from the stunning landscapes of the Nantahala National Forest and the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. One reviewer specifically mentions a "deck provides great view of the creek," indicating that the cabin is located in close proximity to a flowing creek, offering soothing natural sounds and picturesque scenery. The emphasis on disconnecting from technology further suggests a location that is likely peaceful, quiet, and removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.
A crucial aspect of the environment, and one that potential local users must be aware of, is the accessibility to the cabin. Both reviewers mention the challenging nature of the road leading to The Owls Perch. One advises using a car that "does well with going uphill on gravel," while the other describes the road as "difficult and unpaved." Importantly, the cabin name itself includes a "(5" clearance needed)" note, explicitly indicating that vehicles with low ground clearance may not be suitable for accessing the property. Following the hosts' directions "to a T" is strongly recommended to navigate the terrain successfully and stress-free. This unique access requirement underscores the cabin's secluded nature and is a vital piece of information for anyone considering a stay.
In terms of services and features, The Owls Perch appears to offer a rustic yet comfortable experience. While described as "attached to their main living facility," guests still report a sense of remoteness and privacy. This suggests a thoughtful design that balances accessibility for the hosts with the seclusion desired by renters. A key feature is the deck with its "great view of the creek," providing an ideal spot for relaxation, enjoying the scenery, and listening to the sounds of nature. Inside, the cabin boasts a "super comfy" bed, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring or simply unwinding.
The reviews also highlight the hospitality provided by the hosts, Alice and Doug. One guest specifically mentions "wonderful help from Alice and Doug," suggesting they are attentive and supportive. Another recounts arriving after dark and Alice kindly waiting up to guide them to the cabin, indicating a high level of care and commitment to guest comfort. This personal touch can significantly enhance the overall experience, making guests feel welcomed and valued.
For those looking to truly disconnect, The Owls Perch seems to offer an environment conducive to doing so. One reviewer explicitly recommends it "if you want to disconnect from technology!" Another mentions "no service" (likely referring to cellular service), but notes that Alice provided access to a landline, which they used successfully. This reinforces the cabin's appeal for those seeking a break from digital connectivity and an opportunity to fully engage with their surroundings and companions.
The cabin is described as "rustic in the best way possible" and a "cozy spot for you and a significant other." This suggests a charming and intimate setting, ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway or individuals wanting a peaceful solo retreat. The "loud sounds of the creek" are mentioned as a soothing natural lullaby, further contributing to the relaxing atmosphere.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the consistent positive feedback and the emphasis on the unique features – the creek view, the comfortable bed, the hospitality of the hosts, and the opportunity to disconnect – serve as strong implicit endorsements. For local users considering The Owls Perch, it might be beneficial to inquire about seasonal rates, minimum stay requirements, or any special packages for local residents when contacting Alice and Doug directly. Given the specific access requirements, it would also be wise to discuss vehicle suitability during the booking process.
In conclusion, The Owls Perch offers a unique "camping near me" experience for those in the Robbinsville, NC area or surrounding regions seeking a secluded and rustic cabin retreat. Its beautiful creek-side environment, comfortable amenities like the cozy bed and scenic deck, and the exceptional hospitality of Alice and Doug are consistently praised by guests. The emphasis on disconnecting from technology makes it an ideal escape from the demands of modern life. However, potential visitors must carefully consider the 5-inch vehicle clearance requirement and be prepared for the unpaved and uphill road leading to the cabin. Following the hosts' directions is crucial for a smooth arrival. For local users looking for a romantic getaway or a peaceful nature immersion, The Owls Perch presents a highly recommended option, provided their vehicle is suitable for the terrain.

I cannot recommend this location enough if you want to disconnect from technology! Beautiful scenery, wonderful help from Alice and Doug, and a great escape from the city life. Be sure to use a car that does well with going uphill on gravel, and follow their directions to a T! Nonetheless, the cabin itself is attached to their main living facility, but still feels remote. Deck provides great view of the creek, bed is super comfy, and it’s great as a cozy spot for you and a significant other.
Sep 23, 2024 · Andrew NoelThis place was awesome! It was our favorite place we stayed along our trip from NY to GA. We got there after dark, and Alice was kind enough to wait up and show us to the cabin. There was no service, but Alice showed us the landline which we used successfully. The place was rustic in the best way possible. The bed was so comfy, and falling asleep to the loud sounds of the creek was just heaven. The road to get there was difficult and unpaved, but Alice’s instructions made the adventure stressfree. This place was a dream to visit, and I would love to come back! Highly highly recommend.
Jun 01, 2024 · Reilley PeckAn exceptional spot to recharge and annoy the nature, meditate and just relax. Very clean, very comfortable, everything you need is in the cabin, hospitable hosts. Highly recommend!
Nov 19, 2024 · Ekaterina FernandezLast night my husband Todd and I stayed at the Owl's Perch and loved it! Our first time in an Airbnb and it was great! Very clean and very cute! Alice, our host, was very friendly and helpful! She gave us brochures on the things we'd like to do in the area and gave us many good tips ! We slept with the windows open and listened to the river outside the cabin. We also had our mountain bikes with us and very much enjoyed riding our bikes on the roads near the Owl's Perch! Would enjoy staying there again! Thanks Alice!
May 23, 2023 · Patty RickettsThis is an amazing little off the beaten path cabin in the woods. I can’t really explain how it feels to stay there and no pictures will do the beauty of this place justice. The sound of the river In the back will literally cleanse you of your worries and take the weight of life with it down the mountain into oblivion. My wife was moved to tears and she was so thankful for the getaway for her birthday. Our hosts were amazing and more than accommodating. You will not have cell service but honestly you won’t need it. The landline is plenty. 5 stars isn’t enough. A few tips:1. Start heading in before it gets dark2. Get food before heading in (it’s not scary far from town but it’s a trip)3. Although it’s accessible by car I will add 4x4 is not necessary but will help ease a bit of worry if you’re not used to gravel paths4. There is no WiFi but they do have cable and DVDs. Bring your own or download your favorite movies before you get there5. Follow the provided directions! We are glad we did because we would’ve gotten lost for sure if we hadn’t!Once again I have nothing but positives and I think we will be coming back to this place or the junction for another stay within a year!
