Tickfaw River Village Recreational Storage and Campground Introduce
If you are a local resident in the Springfield, Louisiana area looking for a 'camping near me' experience, Tickfaw River Village Recreational Storage and Campground, located at 29388 LA-22, Springfield, LA 70462, USA, offers a seasonal camping option with some appealing features, particularly for families. You can contact them at (985) 551-7252 or their mobile number +1 985-551-7252 for inquiries. However, it's crucial to consider the mixed reviews from recent visitors to get a comprehensive understanding of what to expect.
One positive aspect highlighted by a guest who stayed during a car show event is the potential for a fun and engaging atmosphere. The campground apparently hosts events that can include food trucks, bounce houses for children, and music, suggesting a lively and family-friendly environment during such times. This reviewer specifically mentioned it being a "perfect little summer campground for a great family time," with their 8-year-old enjoying the pool and playground.
The presence of a pool and playground is indeed a significant draw for families camping during the warmer months, offering dedicated spaces for children to play and for everyone to cool off. This suggests that Tickfaw River Village aims to cater to families looking for recreational activities within the campground itself.
However, this same positive review also points out several notable downsides. One significant concern is the lack of air conditioning in the bathrooms and shower house, which is described as a "bummer in the summer," especially considering the potential price of staying at the campground. The Louisiana summer heat and humidity can make non-air-conditioned facilities quite uncomfortable.
Another issue raised is the cleanliness of the pool. The reviewer observed that the pool became very dirty with many people using it and did not see any staff cleaning or tending to the pool area throughout the entire weekend. This lack of maintenance could be a significant concern for guests prioritizing hygiene and water quality.
The pool bar is another area that received negative feedback. Guests are apparently not allowed to bring their own drinks to the pool, limiting them to the offerings of the pool bar. The selection at the bar was described as limited to "lite beer," and a mixed drink (a $12 mudslide in a small Styrofoam cup) was perceived as having hardly any alcohol in it, leading to significant disappointment given the no outside drinks policy. This could be a major drawback for guests who prefer a wider selection or stronger drinks and resent the inability to bring their own beverages.
In stark contrast to the positive experience during the car show, another recent review paints a very negative picture of customer service, specifically regarding interactions with the owner. This guest arrived with their family for the 4th of July weekend, a time typically associated with celebration and relaxation, but reported being met with "hostility" within five minutes of arrival.
The core of this negative experience revolved around a perceived rule against retrieving drinks from a personal ice chest, a rule the guest claims they were never informed of beforehand. The owner's reaction was described as aggressive, including yelling and threatening to "tote us out," which the reviewer felt was completely unwarranted and unnecessary.
Adding to the frustration, this group of friends had collectively paid $100 in entrance fees and also had an open tab at the establishment, suggesting they were intending to spend money at the campground. The guest expressed understanding for having rules but emphasized the lack of clear communication upon arrival. While their friends may have been briefed on the no outside drinks policy, this particular guest had no prior knowledge and had never spoken to the owner before the incident.
The reviewer, who has eight years of experience in the service industry, including three in management, strongly criticized the lack of clear communication and respectful customer service from the owner. They expressed extreme disappointment in how they and their family were treated, stating that they are not typically one to leave negative reviews but had never been yelled at so aggressively by a business owner before.
Furthermore, this negative review includes an additional note stating that, after speaking with others who have visited Tickfaw River Village, this was reportedly "not the first time paying customers were treated poorly by the owner." This recurring theme of negative interactions with the owner is a significant red flag for potential visitors.
Considering these contrasting recent reviews, the environment at Tickfaw River Village appears to be one that can offer seasonal family fun with events, a pool, and a playground. Its location in Springfield, Louisiana, likely provides access to the natural beauty of the Tickfaw River area. However, potential guests must also be aware of potential downsides such as non-air-conditioned restrooms, a pool that may not be consistently clean, a restrictive and potentially disappointing pool bar, and, most concerningly, reports of hostile behavior from the owner and poor communication of rules.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in these reviews. Local users considering Tickfaw River Village for their camping needs should weigh the potential for a fun, event-filled summer experience against the reported issues with facilities and customer service. It would be advisable to contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current policies, the cleanliness and maintenance of the pool and restrooms, the offerings of the pool bar, and, perhaps most importantly, the approach to customer service and communication of rules upon arrival. Asking specific questions based on the concerns raised in these reviews will help you make a more informed decision about whether Tickfaw River Village is the right choice for your 'camping near me' experience.
Ultimately, while Tickfaw River Village may offer some appealing amenities and a potentially lively atmosphere during events, the significant concerns raised about the owner's behavior and the upkeep of certain facilities should give potential visitors pause and prompt thorough investigation before booking a stay.

Tickfaw River Village Recreational Storage and Campground Reviews
Great little place to camp in the summer. We stayed during a car show event, it was a great time with food trucks, bounce houses for kids, and music. They did have a whole party that happened thar started at 9pm and was pretty loud until 2am but thankfully our baby slept right through it. This is the perfect little summer campground for a great family time. My 8 year old loved playing at the pool and on the playground. The bathrooms/shower house isn't air-conditioned which is kind of a bummer in the summer (especially for the price) and the pool got really dirty from all the people and I didnt see a single worker cleaning it or tending to the pool area at all the whole weekend. Another downside was the pool bar. You aren't allowed to bring your own drinks to the pool and the poolbar only had lite beer. I had a $12 mudslide in a small Styrofoam cup that hardly had any alcohol in it at all which was also a huge bummer if they didn't allow you to bring your own drinks. Get a bigger selection and put more alcohol in the mixed drinks... (I usually get big buzzed off of 1 1/2 beers so to not even be convinced that there was alcohol in my drink was :(...) Overall a great time, though I do hope that they might take a little bit more care of the cleanliness of the pool area for future events, improve drinks at bar and eventually put ac in the bathrooms.
May 28, 2024 · Kayla PrudhommeMy family's experience at Tickfaw River Village was incredibly disappointing. We arrived with our children excited to celebrate the 4th of July weekend, only to be met with hostility from the owner. Within five minutes of arrival, we were yelled at for simply retrieving a drink from our ice chest, something we were never informed was prohibited beforehand. The owner's aggressive behavior, threatening to 'tote us out', was completely unwarranted and unnecessary. To make matters worse, among our group of friends, we collectively spent $100 on entrance fees. Additionally, we did have an open tab, which may be the most frustrating part of this incident.I understand that every establishment has rules, but there was no clear explanation of these rules upon arrival. I would have never intentionally broken said rules if we were informed. Apparently, our friends were briefed on this before we arrived, but we had no idea. The owner insisted that he had already informed, but this was false. I had never spoken to him prior to this encounter.Communication is key to running a business, and the lack thereof at this establishment led to an unpleasant experience for us. I am not one to leave a negative review, but I have also never been yelled at so aggressively by a business owner.I have personally worked in the service industry for eight years, three of which I spent in management, and know that clear communication and respectful customer service is not difficult to provide. We are extremely disappointed in how we were treated today.* I would also like to add:After speaking with others who have visited, this is not the first time paying customers were treated poorly by the owner.
Jul 04, 2024 · alexis fickesWe camped there on Memorial Day weekend 2024. The campsite had a level concrete pad but did not have a picnic table, BBQ pit, or fire ring. We lost water pressure multiple times on Saturday. The pool was cloudy, and poolside trash cans had a foul, putrid stench with liquid draining onto the pool deck. An intoxicated "member"(not a camper) was cursing and harassing the "camper" children in the pool. No management on site and the poolside bar continued to serve this intoxicated "member". If you want a family oriented campground that appreciates your business......Keep looking...this is NOT it.
May 29, 2024 · Paulette RichouxWe stayed memorial weekend. Everything was great until the last night there. Intoxicated adults at the pool were acting out of control, not only bullying kids, but adults as well. We asked for management. We were told one manager was there but he was intoxicated and had no solution to the problem. We were told the other manager was on his boat bc he said he had a long weekend. Then we were told another manager was at Walmart. Once the manager came back from Walmart she did not have the decency to come speak with us. Which to me is uncalled for especially since we chose to stay there instead of spending our money elsewhere. When you run a business you should be concerned about any complaint your receive instead of making assumptions of what you thought happened and just taking the word from intoxicated adults. You should always get both sides of the story bc there’s always two sides. Instead of addressing the issue you chose to make a Facebook post stating that kids were bullying kids when that wasn’t even the case. The bartender kept giving drinks to the intoxicated adults. Which by the Louisiana Dram Shop law it’s illegal to continue to serve drinks to someone who is clearly intoxicated. But everyone should already know that. Not only did they allow the intoxicated adults to drive in and out the campground multiple times where kids are out and about but they also drove themselves home which could’ve caused an accident. Drunk driving kills. Seems to me like this campground is ran by people who allow their friends/family to come get trashed and run the campground while no manager is around. Instead of approaching the complaint like an adult we got the run around and still have not been contacted by anyone from the campground which speaks volumes. Out of all my years camping I have NEVER experienced anything like this. Usually, campgrounds remove the intoxicated person either themselves or they bring the law in to handle the situation. Im extremely disappointed and was really hoping we could have future visits here but unfortunately we will not be returning.
