Tin Cup RV Park - Mahomet, Illinois Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Mahomet or Champaign County area of Illinois? Look no further than Tin Cup RV Park, a local campground offering a range of options for both short-term visitors passing through and those seeking a longer stay. Situated at 1715 Tin Cup Rd, Mahomet, IL 61853, USA, Tin Cup RV Park provides a convenient and accessible location for your camping adventures.
Tin Cup RV Park can be reached by phone at (217) 586-3011 or via mobile at +1 217-586-3011. While specific details about the park's environment and features aren't extensively available online, customer reviews offer valuable insights into what you can expect during your stay.
One recurring positive aspect highlighted by campers is the exceptional customer service. Reviewers consistently praise the helpfulness of the owner, Quentin, and the office staff. This suggests a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where your needs are likely to be addressed promptly and efficiently. One guest specifically mentioned Rick, the maintenance man, who went "above and beyond" on multiple occasions, indicating a dedicated team committed to guest satisfaction.
Tin Cup RV Park appears to cater to a diverse range of camping needs. Several reviews mention long-term tenants, suggesting that the park provides a stable and potentially community-oriented environment for those seeking an extended stay in the area. For travelers just passing through, the park also offers overnight or short-term options, as indicated by a guest who stayed for a couple of nights in mid-October 2024.
The park offers drive-thru sites, which are particularly convenient for larger RVs. However, one reviewer noted that the utility hookups (sewage at the front, water and electric at the rear) on these sites might not be ideal for smaller RV setups. It's advisable to inquire about site configurations when making your reservation to ensure a comfortable hookup experience.
In terms of amenities, Tin Cup RV Park provides a laundry house equipped with multiple washers and dryers, along with a table and even some games and puzzles to help pass the time during your laundry cycles. This is a significant convenience, especially for longer stays or those on extended road trips.
For families, there is a playground located behind the office, offering a space for children to play and burn off some energy. While one reviewer didn't personally check it out, its presence indicates a family-friendly aspect of the campground.
However, it's important to consider some of the less positive feedback shared by recent visitors. One reviewer described the women's restroom and shower house as "disgusting" and "very cold" during their mid-October stay. They reported issues with cleanliness, including leaves on the floor, hair in the drains, and grime on various surfaces. The reviewer also noted a lack of a latch on the stall door separating the shower area from the main bathroom, raising privacy concerns. This feedback suggests that the condition of the restroom facilities might be an area for potential improvement.
The same reviewer also mentioned that while the park was mostly quiet, the individual campsites felt small in width, and they could clearly hear a neighboring baby crying inside their own RV with the doors closed. This indicates that soundproofing and site spacing might be limited in some areas of the park.
Additionally, the presence of "sketchy" looking long-term tenants made one reviewer hesitant to venture far from their site. While this is subjective and might not reflect the experience of all guests, it's something to be aware of.
Despite some of these concerns, the positive feedback regarding the helpfulness of the staff cannot be overlooked. Excellent customer service can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and addressing any issues that may arise.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Mahomet and surrounding Champaign County area, Tin Cup RV Park offers a conveniently located option with helpful staff and essential amenities like laundry facilities and a playground. While some aspects, particularly the cleanliness and condition of the restrooms, might require attention, the positive interactions with the park's personnel seem to be a consistent highlight for many visitors.
Before booking your stay at Tin Cup RV Park, it would be prudent to inquire about the current condition of the facilities and the layout of the campsites to ensure they meet your specific needs and expectations. Consider calling the provided phone numbers, (217) 586-3011 or +1 217-586-3011, to speak directly with the staff and get the most up-to-date information. You can also confirm details about site sizes, utility hookups, and any recent improvements or changes to the park's amenities.
As a local camping option in the "camping near me" category, Tin Cup RV Park presents a mixed picture based on recent reviews. The strong emphasis on customer service is a significant advantage, and the availability of long-term and short-term sites caters to different needs. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported issues with restroom cleanliness and site spacing to make an informed decision. By contacting the park directly, you can gather the necessary information to determine if Tin Cup RV Park is the right fit for your next camping adventure in the Mahomet, Illinois area.

Tin Cup RV Park - Mahomet, Illinois Reviews
Tincup RV Park is a wonderful place to camp or stay long-term. The owner, Quentin, is very helpful and the office staff is also excellent. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting to stay in or around the Champaign County area.
Mar 30, 2025 · AlecStayed a couple nights passing through the state, mid October 2024. Nice, clean & mostly quiet park overall. Excellent customer service from every employee we encountered! Rick, the maintenance man went above & beyond 3 dif times, helping me with 3 dif situations. Thank you again Rick, we appreciate you! As others said, there are many long term tenants, some look rather sketchy so we didnt go far from our site. We stayed on the entry hillside, the drive thru sites are all set up for big rig style so the sewage hookup is towards the front of the site while the water & electric are at the rear, which doesnt workk well for smaller rv's. Also the sites are very small in width, we could hear the neighbors baby crying alot, from inside our RV, doors closed.. there is a really nice laundry house with 4 or 5 ea. Washers & dryers, table to sit at, box of games & puzzles to pass the time. The womens restroom/shower house was disgusting & very cold for the time of year, should have had heat on. I tried to attach pictures to show how dirty it was, but do not have an option to do so, will try again later. It did not appear to have been cleaned for months! Leaves on the floor all througout, dry hair clumps in the shower drains, grimy shower curtains, floors, walls, sinks & toilets were nasty! The stall style door that separates the shower area from the main bathroom, does not have a latch to keep it closed. So no actual privacy when getting dressed. There is a playgound behind the office but we did not check it out.
Nov 18, 2024 · C. H.We were greeted warmly. Knowing we were going to arrive late, we were able to pay in advance, and we were given a great spot to allow us easy arrival and easy departure. Bathrooms were great lots to do!
Sep 27, 2024 · Erika ZinkanI’ve been trying to get somebody to answer the phone all day. I tried to use your online app, but it was unable to do so because I never got an email either not impressed.
Apr 09, 2025 · Tamara JonesVery clean. But very small spaces 2 feet between our slide and the neighbors slide in lot 3. Main reason for low score is neighbor in lot 5 their dog is off leash and aggressive. Came under their camper to attack our dog and myself. Now can't wait to leave in the morning and don't ever plan on returning.
